What about a Final Smash that requires skill?

I'm thinking of 15-ish seconds of unlimited 3-Star powered Star Punch. (Which would be equally powerful to Jiggs' rest from Melee).

Perhaps an added bonus where ANY other hit will make your opponent dizzy, thus giving Little Mac the chance of Star Punching them.

I hope it isn't inappropiate of me to post some fan art.

The reason why Little Mac's reveal was delayed was because at the time he was on a different type of battle arena.

Well...

Little Mac is a very deceiving name. :troll:

A combination of a Dempsey Roll and a Star Punch sounds neat. Something along the lines of charging forward with the Dempsey Roll across the stage and then finishing it with a Star Punch.

...That actually sounds kinda badass, I might go animate that...

Just thought id share this with you lot if you havent seen it already...

Is this trouble for Mac? Or is Sakurai Slighly tryna rule out Tekken/Namco's Chars?

It's more about fighting characters from fighting games, Nintendo has gone on record saying that they don't think Punch-Out!! is a fighting game, but rather a strategy/puzzle game. Which makes sense. Don't remember where I found this though :p

I've always thought of Punch-Out as a sports game because they are boxing.

Punch-Out! doesn't count as a fighting game in the sense he meant.
It's fair to say Tekken/Streeet Fighter/Soul Calibur characters would not really work well in SSB because of how different they would play from they're actual games. Fans of said series would likely not like the condensing of the complex battle systems of those games to that of SSB (or at least hardcore fans).

Children see this! *gets disturbed*

On topic, Little Mac is not the best character to put in smash. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, I enjoy projectile characters, and unless he throws his boxing gloves, I'm not gonna use him.

I think a roster with around 50 characters is bound to have someone you like better anyway.
Not wanting him in because he doesn't fit your fighting style is not a pretty good reason against him.

Besides, we already have Captain Falcon, and Marth, and those two are still fan favorites despite tier placement. Little Mac is going to be equally well received, if Sakurai manages to make an interesting moveset for him.

Also, a roster relying on too many projectile using characters make the game boring in the end, as you'll find stuff flying around everywhere, or people just spamming from aside.
That's why PSASBR became so boring to me. Approximately half the cast uses guns, and the half remaining had some other form of projectile.

I had this weird dream last night that Mac was revealed but his design was completely different. He looked like Soda Popinski with Little Mac's skin and clothes. It was... disappointing to say the least. I felt dead inside. I was sooo happy when I woke up from the dream. I think I actually smiled and said "F-yes!!!"

A little while later I realized... "Damn it, I still have to wait for Mac to be revealed now." Now I'm anticipating his reveal more than ever. I wish I never had that dream.

A new argument against Little Mac has appeared.

"After Sakurai revealed that he doesn't want to include fighting game characters people are saying little Mac wont be in."

I don't think he talking specifically about fighting games but just as an example that characters should have unique abilities. A fighting game character fights which is what everyone else does so there is nothing special in that sense.

According to the Punch Out!! page on TVTropes, its developers view the series as a puzzle series moreso than a boxing one, which is a far cry from a fighting series in and of itself. That argument holds as little water as virtually all others against Little Mac.

This.

Reading Iwata Asks: Punch Out edition, it's clear to me that they see it as a game based on quick reflexes and puzzle solving rather than fighting. So I don't think it affects LM's chances.

True... and Punch-Out!! games are not like other traditional fighting games like Street Fighter and Tekken. Plus we also have a boxing ring stage that suspiciously looks like something from Punch-Out!! games. I don't think this would be like Brawl's Smashville where we had an Animal Crossing stage without Villager.

I'm pretty sure the "Lil' Mac is too big" argument holds more worth than this one.

Agreed. Punch Out is as much of a "fighting game" in the context that Sakurai's talking about as The Legend of Zelda. People are just getting caught up with the fact that Mac's punching things.

I personally disagree with what Sakurai's talking about-- I think it'd be just fine to import other fighting game characters into the Smash system. Nobody would expect them to control exactly like they do in their original games... it'd still be fun to see how they translate.
But whatever!

Out of the many characters I'd like to see in SSB4, I think Little Mac has the biggest chance. Especially after seeing that Boxing Rink stage on the WiiU version. The resemblance is uncanny.

As many others have said, it would be cool to incorporate Doc Louis into his character. A codec would be best, in my opinion.

Bonus points if Doc mentions Club Nintendo, Nintendo Fun Club, and/or chocolate.

Somebody on gamefaqs posted this. The stars are what sinks it for me. It is absolutely a punch out stage. Does that mean we will absoulutely 100% get little mac? No but this does increase his chances I'd imagine. The punch out games had a bunch of "Circuits" to fight though this one is a "Super Smash Bros. Circuit" if you will. It's actually pretty darn clever.

First off, the audience is human, so you can rule out any possibility that this is a Kirby themed stage (all Kirby boxing rings have Kirby characters instead). The marquee's in the background are all dot styled, which is consistent with the marquees in Punch Out Wii, and even the title screen and round indicators for Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

All logos in Punch Out Wii are adorned with clusters of stars, which are usually in 3's because triple star punches are the most powerful punch in the game, as well as the "leaf vines" on the sides (forgive me; I don't know the term for this) and a ribbon at the top. The logo in the ring, while being smash themed, shares all of these characteristics.

Minor/Major/World Circuit Emblems: http://i.imgur.com/oWzpteX.jpg

The ring ropes are also identical in both color and configuration as the Major Circuit ring in Punch Out Wii. Similarly, the corners are all identical colors and positions as the Punch Out Wii corners.

Also, it's worth noting that the final fight in Punch Out Wii, Mr. Sandman, has a very particular entrance for both his Title Defense and Contender fights. He approaches the ring while there's a green laser light show that goes on behind him. Well, check this out...

Same green laser show.

It would be real silly to think this is not a Punch Out themed stage. There is an abundance of intentional details that suggest otherwise.
My body wasn't ready....

OK, question: Would you like Little Mac to use attacks from his opponents in a similar fashion to Ness/Lucas?

I'd prefer if he didn't, honestly. He just wouldn't feel much like Little Mac, you know? That being said, if he did borrow some moves, I'd probably get over it.

That would be a huge turn off for me. So I preferred he didn't.
But I wouldn't be surprised if Sakurai's "Quest for uniquene movesets" would cause this... I guess I'd just have to deal with it I suppose.

Only if doing so leads to the creation of a new Punch Out game that's just like Mega Man where you would punch your way through eight different robot boxing master stages to defeat them and take their power in order to defeat other robot boxing masters!

Awesomeeeee

I love it!

... except where's King Hippo?! Is he the Dr. Wily of this game?
He's the Yellow Devil in this game.

Dr. Wily is obviously Mike Tyson! They have so much in common!

Plot twist Mac is an Android.

But no, since I see this character already in the game and I'm just waiting for the reveal, I want to say some things I'd like moveset wise.
I'm pretty apathetic about it mostly, but I'd like him to have Donkey kong's neutral B. Except you see him gain a star after every, what, 2 secs of charging?
And the final blow is a triple star punch. More effective than Donkey Kong's I'd hope. That said i'd like lots of quick, not so tough jabbing combos. That sort of character.
And as for a final smash? I'd want Giga Mac. Big ole friggin Lou Ferrigno lookin *****. I can just see him smashing jigglypuff.....tis beauty..

It would work for some attacks like the Bull Rush (I think that's it's name). Maybe for an attack or two it would work. Most people don't know this,. but Ike's Eruption is actually a magic ability in the game and he never used it. Basically, it's not the first time they did it.
