So I'm at FC return. It's the weirdest tournament with the weirdest ruleset/bracketing I've ever heard of. For whatever reason I had to play someone in bracket pools I had already lost to. If it hadn't been for that I probably would have been in top 16.

Regardless, I got to play doubles on stream against GimR and Wizzrobe (G&W & Sheik team with two players who know what they're doing with their respective characters is a scary thing) with ZeRo commentating. It's the first time I've played doubles with my partner, but it was still a great experience. I'm looking forward to watching the match again so I can get better.

Edit: Yooo I just got to commentate doubles semi-finals with Acestar! That was super fun!

One thing people should be careful about in the Link MU is that you should be careful gimping Link when he's above you (i.e. recovering high). One mis-spaced aerial could mean your stock, even at low-ish %.

Me neither (at least in the social). Whenever I tried to ask, no one ever seems to be around at the time. I actually have yet to play any of you guys because of it and it's pretty irritating to say the least. I should probably start messaging and looking elsewhere to get decent people to play from now on. But now I'm back home, so I won't be able to play for at least another couple of weeks.

Too true, though landing the Dair after the double jump can be pretty difficult. I've landed one on a peach player in one of the replays Zane uploaded if you feel like having a look (I landed a couple more of those in other recent replays I've sent him that have yet to be uploaded). It easily made up for me playing badly most of the match lol.

I was in a 128-man tournament today, should have gotten into that top 16 bracket but too bad. I lost to Sheiks twice 2-1. On the plus side I did avenge Cat by beating this Bowser -- he went Pikacu game one though.

Speaking of Dair, I played around a lot with tether trump Dair during friendlies. Very satisfying to land. The problem if is if they buffer a ledge get-up you're stuck back on the ledge without invincibility. Yet people forget to buffer an option often, in which case you can turn a game around by taking a stock at 60...

Well if such an inconceivable thing were to occur then that would totally invalidate all attempts to derive any kind of player skill from wifi matches, and we know that's just not true. Could you imagine the panic that would cause in the trousers of all the wifi heroes out there? Imagine that one of the greatest measures of a player's skill was suddenly invalidated simply due to the online condition. The utter shock and dismay the world would be consumed by is unfathomable.

I'm so glad we live in a world where such unpleasant thoughts are able to remain as such, a passing fancy of horrors most foul.
Thank goodness everyone runs wired connections on god-like FIOS with no packet loss, frame drops or input delay.

I can't help but notice that most people have a really bad habit of spamming spot-dodges and rolls whenever they wiff a move near you (probably because they don't want to get grabbed by Link). It's relatively easy to exploit once you figure it out, like at the end of this video:

Your response over the clips I submitted, which I actually did not even ask Zane to upload in the first place, is pretty telling.

I'm playing this game for fun, and sharing stuff that I think is entertaining. You're the one getting your panties in a bunch over FOR GLORY FOOTAGE. SERIOUSLY. I agree completely with Dumbfire that For Glory is fraudulent in general.

Now to more seriously elaborate, Link by design is good when he can force approaches (arrows BEAT REACTION TIME so your opponent HAS to be proactive to avoid them) and has a response to his opponent being in virtually any position. The grab game buffs AND the D-tilt buff now more than justify the risk of him trying to contest midrange, ESPECIALLY since Link has some of the best anti-airs among tether grabbers in this game.

Links hard matchups right now are like...Sheik, Pikachu, and Sonic. And they're no worse than 4/6 out of his favor. I'd say he's pretty definitely high tier from a matchup perspective. One of his previous worst matchups, Fox, is now 55/45 his favor (Fox can't pressure his recovery that well and is super light and easily KO confirmed off both D-tilt and D-throw). You cannot underestimate how huge his buffs are, when they probably improved basically all his matchups by 10 points or more (except vs Sonic, who is a little too good at escaping strings by design).

I sent Zane stuff to watch because I thought it was entertaining. I never explicitly said to him "PLEASE UPLOAD THESE" in fact when he asked me which replays belonged to me, I told him specifically "you don't have to upload them if it's a hassle". But he's a nice guy and uploaded stuff for me anyway I guess.

But in all seriousness, I'm mostly laughing at the salty response over FOR GLORY footage. I personally think some of the ways I ended stocks were pretty funny, and actually are nice demonstrations of cool things Link is capable of.
