And it's guaranteed on most chars except ****ty weird ones like Fox. Remember to use the zair so you can jump from the ledge instantly.

I started testing this and I didn't realize just how many variables have to be accounted for here. I've spent a few hours on it and I'm not quite halfway through the cast. I have some promising results regarding several MUs already, though. I'll do a formal write up for the meta discussion and tag you once I finish.

After a tournament today, I stepped into a train at 22:00 to get home. Right before the time to leave, the staff announces: "All trains to [scheduled destination] will not ride due to a power outage." That was the entire message. After 2 more trains that did not leave (and a hilarious message that literally said "There are no alternative options at the moment" -- i.e., "You're all screwed") I was told to take an hour long train to a destination the opposite direction, only to take another train going to my destination on a different path. Here I am, home, 4 and a half hours later :c I spent more time in trains than at the actual tourney >.> Worse I did not eat all day. (I mean that literally: I had no food whatsoever due to circumstances.) Now I am enjoying a lot food and wondering when I'll get to sleep. Most stations I was at were basically deserted -- really an odd sight. Actually we have a monthly here held in an abandoned school -- I love that stuff.

Thank God I'm back home so I can be cruelly flamed, bullied, beaten, and denigrated by you elitist Link mains.

Good job man at least you got to quarter finals i wanna say but still good at least, but gotta suck you had to spend 4 hours on train

I'm glad I've brought up awareness for that setup =) remember it's only a matter of time until people figure it out and buffer a get up option so every Link out there should be looking into good ways to punish those get ups once people catch on!

Had a lot of fun and learned a lot.

In my experience only ledgehop Zair convincingly catches rolls (I tried normal get-up grab too, but only if the roll is slow and they shield after briefly will that work). Ledgehop Fair will catch get-up attacks and a variety of things will catch the jump. Not also this by Foxy:
But if you do time the tether reel in perfectly such that you grab the ledge the very moment after the opponent does, it won't matter if they buffer a ledge option because you'll have that option covered too. When you do a perfect tether trump you find yourself in an extremely beneficial situation. If you buffer a normal ledge get-up, the opponent is still forced to buffer a ledge option otherwise they will be trumped. Hitting away from the ledge to let go of it does not count as a ledge option and any attempt to do so in this situation will just get them trumped. If they are trumped then you will find yourself on-stage ready to punish their recovery because you know that they can't go to the ledge again, otherwise they will completely leave themselves open to being hit due to not receiving any invulnerability frames. If instead they do buffer a ledge option (ledge attack, ledge get-up, ledge roll, ledge jump) you will be in a prime position to punish any of these options as you will already be on-stage and you will know for a fact that one of these options must be used to avoid the trump (in the event that the trump does happen, you can react to that, but for now you should be focusing on punishing their ledge options) and you will know for a fact that one of these options must be done at a very specific time which makes punishing much easier.
