Might as well learn the matchup though. I personally kind of avoid online play though because I'm not good enough to differentiate online from offline

Like, I don't mind playing against Link, I just hate playing dittos because it turns into a camp fest most of the time. I mostly play Dr. Mario and Falcon, and while my Link has been moved to tertiary status (you can thank the patch for that), I wouldn't mind busting him out in other matchups (as long as your name isn't Sheik or Fox lol).

Yeah, imo, Sheik and Fox (and maybe Rosalina) are pretty much Link's -2 matchups. Everything else seems to be pretty do-able, even if it is like -1. I would love to play your Sheik sometime though, I've only ever played like 2 good Sheiks in Smash 4, so I need the experience. :3

Online, with a decent connection can be fun as long as you don't take it seriously. Bad connections are just hell for Link. The button lag SDs suck.

I hate using Link in button lag. Anything offstage means death and he can't go by hit confirms so all KOs boil down to guesswork.
Normal wifi is okay but I'm talking laggy wifi.

You can say that for just about everyone though. I honestly found that in super lag situations that super heavy hitters are King. Luckily landing something that hurts that bad is stupid effective

The faster, rush down characters definitely get hurt the most by lag. I've given up trying to play Fox online because the lag just completely shuts me down. Link and Luigi are at least doable.

I'd imagine the lag would be pretty bad. It is kind of making me dread playing online when I move back to Europe in a week. All the people I know who play Sm4sh are here is the US. Not going to be fun playing them.

Link's recovery is very unforgiving; other characters can have some button lag offstage and do fine. Losing hit confirms really sucks for Link since he has good chains but they require reads. I agree characters like Ganon do better in lag but Link is an extremely technical character.

It's weird, I played Serac and the lag was noticeable, but when I played you, it felt like offline play. You said lag still existed though. Maybe I'm used to incredibly garbage connections that I can't tell when the lag is there.

I guess I'll find out how bad the lag will be once I get back to Ireland. Going to be playing Splatoon a lot too, so hopefully it won't be too bad. The Sm4sh competitive scene in Ireland seems decent and it looks like it could gain momentum in Iceland too (the two countries I'm most likely to end up in). I reckon Iceland will lag quite a bit, sadly.

Have you tried using a custom Kirby? That's the only way I even touch those crazy kinds of challenges. Otherwise everyone seems to be saying to clone Dedede and use his inhale ability. *shrugs* That challenge pisses me off, so I didn't bother with it.

The sadistic designers thought ahead and don't allow custom Kirby for that event. Customs do help stupid events like the one with 2 giant Warios and you as Wii Fit.
I beat all the events with rewards, including the appetite one, now for the Glacitica Knight trophy. Now I'll never touch it again.

Damn. That really is sadistic of them. It's been so long since I did the events I couldn't remember. I think I may even just have given up on the reward and completed it on easy or something because I know I've completed the final event, if not gotten all the rewards.

That final one had me rage quit more than once.
