A round of random capsule toys submissions:

Roo
Debut: Streets of Rage 3 (March 18, 1994)
System Debut: Sega Genesis
"A boxing kangaroo trained by a clown. Roo was forced to fight for the Syndicate by his trainer, but after Axel, Blaze, Eddie, and Dr. Zan defeated the clown, Roo fought against the Syndicate alongside them. He later became a bartender."

Aika
Debut: Skies of Arcadia (October 5, 2000)
System Debut: Sega Dreamcast
"Vyse's childhood friend and a fellow air pirate. An upbeat and energetic tomboy, she has a fiery temper and an obsession with finding treasure. Ironically, despite being a pirate, she is afraid of water and can't swim."

Valiance
Debut: Bayonetta 2 (September 20, 2014)
System Debut: Wii U
"Valiance is the most ambitious and brave of the Cherubim. Valiance's sword, the Valiantium Blade, is said to have the power to cut in two anything in Paradiso or Inferno, and is prophesized to one day assist a team of over a hundred heroes in saving humanity from an invading evil."

I wasn't sure about including Aika (since there's a chance of her becoming playable later), but I figure that she'd get one of these if she's playable, and I wanted to make sure that all of the main trio of Skies of Arcadia got something. (admittedly, I haven't played Skies of Arcadia given how expensive it is, so I'm not sure if other characters are equally important) Also, a good chunk of Valiance's description is copied from Bayonetta 2, since I couldn't resist the reference.

Job #157: Golden Axe Stage - Adder's Lair

Adder's Lair is the headquarters of a fearsome tyrant Death Adder himself, which takes place in a devilish/demonic valley with lava and an active volcano, even being partially based on the final stage from the original Golden Axe game and set in the Royal Castle of Southwood Kingdom. This particular version and it's aspects are based on it's incarnation as one of the race tracks in Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed.

In Battle of AGES, players are fighting in an ominous castle with a few rocky platforms and lava surrounding the place, with it sprouting out from a volcano below as magma pillars to burn off fighters. The giant skeleton with it's hands opened outwards and blue flames coming out of them, referencing the first game's character select screen, and stone statues of both Death Adder & Death Bringer, final bosses of arcade and Genesis/Mega Drive versions, are all seen as cameos in the background. After a certain time has passed, a giant dragon similar to the Great Dragon from Beast Rider (except with dark scales like Megabrax, Death Adder's guardian in the same game, and has some elements from a rideable monster in the classic games), will appear as it flies into the stage, acting as both a moving platform and a stage hazard/boss (similarly to Ridley in SSB4's Wii U version for a Pyrosphere stage and Brawl as a Subspace Emissary boss respectively, Rayquaza in Brawl and Rathalos as an assist trophy in Ultimate), often flying into the sides of a stage, damaging fighters as it charges back and forth. While flapping in the side, a dragon will attack fighters by either swiping it's tail, breathing a series of fire balls or roaring out a giant soundwave to stun them for a while.

For a tracklist, well... we usually have those in a different job following the voted stage, so I'm sorry to tell Qwerty UIOP Qwerty UIOP that it's a little bad time right now.

Qwerty, it's best to wait a full day before posting twice in a row; posting several times in quick succession can come across as spammy.

Not sure how often we can submit capsule toys, but assuming that it's safe to do so...

Pixie
Debut: Megami Tensei II (April 6, 1990)
System Debut: Famicom
"Pixies are small mischievous creatures that like to play pranks on humans. Rumour has it that they reward stalwart and dedicated companions with a great blessing."

Jogurt
Debut: Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention (March 20, 1992)
System Debut: Sega Genesis/Mega Drive
"A carefree and cheerful creature, Jogurt is not the most effective combatant. If he manages to defeat an enemy, he will get a Yogurt Ring, which only serves to make the bearer resemble him."

Acceptance
Debut: Bayonetta 2 (September 20, 2014)
System Debut: Wii U
"One of the lowest ranked angels in the hierarchy. Legend tells of Acceptance placing the souls of the dead on its back and carrying them away, ignoring their past deeds. The souls' pleas for a second chance are also ignored."

I'm going to submit some more capsule toys; this might be my last submission of these for a bit, but I wanted to finish up with the Platinum Stars stage cameos and get the last playable character from Sonic Adventure 1 in here. (though I'm aware that we have a TON of Sonic characters listed; you could probably pick any three series, combine them, and Sonic would still have more capsule toys)

Glamor
Debut: Bayonetta 2 (September 20, 2014)
System Debut: Wii U
"A serpentine angel, Glamor's claws are sharp enough to cut through a jet plane like butter. While normal humans cannot see it, its presence has been felt, with its sheer bulk being enough to destroy an entire street."

E-102 Gamma
Debut: Sonic Adventure (December 23rd, 1998)
System Debut: Sega Dreamcast
"One of Eggman's many battle robots, E-102 Gamma gained sentience after a chance encounter with Amy Rose. He seeks to 'free' his brethren by destroying them, liberating the animal that is being used to power them."

Igor
Debut: Revelations: Persona (September 20, 1996)
System Debut: PlayStation
"The mysterious proprietor of the Velvet Room, Igor provides vague commentary on the journey of the protagonists throughout the series. He is helped by an ever-changing line-up of attendants, and his nose is so prominent that one of those attendants wrote a song about it."

    • Debut: Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom (April 21st, 1990)
    • System Debut: Mega Drive
  • Rika
    • Series: Phantasy Star
    • Debut: Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium (December 17th, 1993)
    • System Debut: Mega Drive

    • Debut: Spatter (December 1984)

The first two I submitted to round out the sort of quartet of the iconic girls from each classic PS game, and the third one is because he is a funny tricycle boy and I like these kinds of deep cut arcade Capsule Toys

Moving on:

Just keep it to a max of 16 tracks

Job #159: Submit a Golden Axe assist

I have nothing to say here, other than please keep in mind that whoever wins will be disconfirmed

Job 159:
Death Adder (Golden Axe)
1646250224850.png

Death Adder
is the main antagonist of the Golden Axe series, having multiple appearances throughout the games. A fearsome descendent of the evil giants that survived the battle against the gods many years ago, the serpentine Death Adder seeks nothing more than to conquer the world and rule as emperor.
He allegedly appears as the central antagonist of the first game (meaning the secondary antagonist who hides the main).
He is also Death Bringer's student and he is also final boss of Golden Axe games.

When summoned, he would use the same attacks from Golden Axe games, where he swings with his axe around himself. He also charges at opponents with great force and short distance. He also borrows one move from the Duel game.
He as an assist, he has a super armor that ignores players' attacks when attacking, making him durable.
(While swinging his axe, he also prevents characters from recovering when he stands on the edge of stage)

Thief

These annoying little fellas will dash around the stage, just being general nuisances. But they can be hit, and hitting them enough will cause rare items to drop. They come in blue and green, and will drop different items depending on what color they are.

Tyris Flare

Another player character who appeared in all the way back in the original Golden Axe and the protagonist of Golden Axe: Beast Rider

As an assist Tyris will very quickly run around the stage dealing fast attacks with her sword and can use fire attacks like Dragon's Fire which is a blast of flame and Flame Pillar in which 2 pillars of flame appear in front of her and 2 behind her.

ALRIGHT NOW FELLAS

(there will be a point in which I will have quoted the entirety of Hey Ya! in these posts)

It's time to look at the results!

First off, Tonygameman's tracklist for Adder's Lair wins!!!!

Secondly, the Thieves will be our Golden Axe assist!

And that's that for our Golden Axe content. One more job before our next character:

Job #160: Submit a minigame based on a SEGA property

This is it: our third and final minigame. Just like the last two, this one will be based on a specific SEGA IP. Also worth noting is that it's still recommended that the minigames follow the same basic concept of shaking up the regular gameplay in some form, rather than a complete and total shift. I'd recommend you look at our two current minigames to get an idea of what we're looking for here. ok now bye

Burning Rangers (I'm submitting for OrpheusTelos OrpheusTelos )
Job #160: Burning Rangers

View attachment 341121

Burning Rangers is a 1998 Sega Saturn game from Sonic Team about a group of futuristic fire fighters. Your main objective in each level is to put out fires and rescue civilians from burning buildings. When developing the game, Yuji Naka said that he wanted to create a game focused on saving people’s lives rather than killing them, which will be the main of this side-mode. If you wanna take a break from beating the tar out of each other and partake in some good ol’ fashion wholesome heroism, this is the mode for you!

This minigame is structured somewhat similarly to Smash 3DS’ Smash Run in that you’re exploring a large, labyrinth-like burning building with up to four players. You’re automatically equipped with a burning blaster, an item exclusive to this mode that helps you extinguish fires. Every time a fire is successfully put out, it’ll drop a few energy crystals. And what are these energy crystals used for, you might ask? For rescuing civilians, of course! Teleporting civilians to safety costs 5 energy crystals, and the main objective here is to rescue as many of them as possible while putting out all the fires. If you take damage, you’ll drop all of your energy crystals and have to pick them up before they disappear. You’re competing against other players to see who can rescue the most people and extinguish the most fires. Much like the Crazy Taxi mode, the civilians you rescue will be various SEGA characters who aren’t already playable. Also to emulate Burning Rangers’ voice-navigation system, there won’t be a map to tell you where you are. Instead, your menu guide (in this case, Professor Asobin or the original game’s navigator, Chris) will guide you in the right direction.

Once everyone’s finished putting out all the fires and rescuing civilians, you’ll all have to team up to face down against the boss whose been causing the destruction within the building. These will of course be randomly selected from the six bosses that are in our lineup. Once the boss is finished, the game is complete and you’ll be scored based on how well you did. Whoever racks up the most points saving civilians and putting out fires will be declared the winner. Also important to note that the music accompanying this mode during the firefighting section will be Angels With Burning Hearts or We Are Burning Rangers

Karaoke (Yazuka)

Yeah. The fan favorite, and often memed, Yazuka minigame has made its way to battle of ages. Works pretty much like it does in the original games, but with some Battle of Ages flair. There will of course be some Yazuka songs, but also other series. Sonic and freinds jamming to City Escape? You bet. Joker belting out Life Will Change? Of course! Characters preforming the Daytona Theme? What else.

Amigo Beat up Beat(Samba de Amigo)
For those of you who don’t know, Samba de Amigo is a SEGA rhythm game released for the Dreamcast. This works in the same way as the karaoke idea from Darkonedagger but the gameplay is more similar to Kingdom Hearts Melody by Memory. In completing certain challenges, you can unlock new songs to play in the form of SEGA CDs.

Jet Set Radio Turf Tag Battle
jet set tagging.jpeg

Whilst we may have Beat already representing Jet Set Radio, I feel like the game mechanics would work well using Battle of Ages gameplay.

Just like in Splatoon, the goal of the game is to have covered the most turf with your tags by the time limits end. This game can be played in a free for all or in teams.

Corn, Gum(if she becomes playable, we'll swap her for Piranha, Mew or Cube) and YoYo will appear to scatter graffiti cans. Players will then grab these cans and attack the tag site to score points, with moving targets such as helicopters and Captain Onishima earning additional points. You'll need to collect cans in order to be able to tag however, so scoop up those dropped cans quickly.

Naturally the occasional gang war will break out, and KOing your opponent will drop a huge amount of additional cans so those lagging behind in points may want to go for a more aggressive strategy. However points are only scored for tags, not KOs so bare that in mind when choosing to attack your rivals.

Job #160: New Mini Game - Columns

A original idea came from @Darkonedagger, besides gem ideas for certain franchises like Chaos Emeralds (Sonic), Rice Balls (Alex Kidd), Morolians (Space Channel 5), Ideyas (NiGHTS), Puyos (Puyo Puyo), bananas (Super Monkey Ball), capsules (Shenmue), spray cans (Jet Set Radio) and potions (Golden Axe).

A puzzle game that Sega seems to love to re-release. The mini game would play pretty much exactly how the original game did, a tetris style match three puzzle game. Perhaps there could be themed versions for each franchise.

This isn't a franchise that could really be represented in most other ways. So it would be good to include it here.

Capsule Submission time!
2 of them are YoshiandToad YoshiandToad 's and one is mine.
  • U=Mazzler
    • Series: Paddle Fighter
    • First Appearance: Paddle Fighter (March, 1991)
    • System Debut: Mega Drive/Genesis
U=Mazzler is a horse headed air hockey player from Paddle Fighter and the first opponent the player faces. His special ability is being able to clone the puck. This is probably the most obscure Capsule Toy idea I've thrown out but it's such an oddity of a game I want to acknowledge it somehow in the game.
  • Thud
    • Series: Dark Edge
    • First Appearance: Dark Edge (March, 1991)
    • System Debut: Arcade
Prior to Virtua Fighter, Dark Edge was an attempt by Sega to create a brand new 3D fighter. The technology used sprite scaling. Thud himself is a sunglasses wearing, american samurai who duel wields two swords and can control the power of thunder and lightning. He also looks a little like Street Fighter's Guile.

- Sketch Turner (Comix Zone)
- Series:
Comix Zone
- First Appearance: Comix Zone
- System Debut: Sega Mega Drive/Genesis

Description entry: Meet Sketch Turner, a starving artist and freelance Rock artist, who makes a new comic under name "Comix Zone". The comic's story is about New World Empire being attacked by alien forces, which it was inspired by Sketch's weird dreams and nightmares.
One night, a lightning bolt striked down and he got sucked into Comic, while Mortus warped into Real world just to threaten the main character. Sketch needs to get out from comic by breaking barriers of comics and travelling through Post-Apocalyptic Earth Depicted in the comic, badass isn't it?
Also, he defeats a lot of enemies and bosses like in Beat'em Up way and he meets Commander Alissa in middle of the game. However, at the end, he needs to save her at the end of the game. After adventures in comic world, Sketch defeats Mortus and goes back into Real World. At the end, he forgot to save Alissa.
