Let's collabrate on hosting NJ tournaments

NJ tournaments have been extremely dry, almost non-existent, and I'm basically deprived of smash as it is. I have hosted successful tournaments, but the location makes it hard for the turnout to ever get big. I know there are a lot of NJ melee players that are still active. If we can find a prime venue location, I'm sure we can revive the NJ smash scene, or at least slowly.

Anyone interested in a Melee tournament in south jersey in Egg Harbor Township, NJ?

It's a bit farther than normal for North NJ'ers though. NJNY Brawl heads keep complaining about it being too far for them but it's a legit venue and I can start hosting Melee there if you guys want.

Hmm, Egg harbor township is a bit out of the way and I'm central Jersey. That must be one heck of a trip from Pennsylvania

The EHT venue is about 45-50 minutes from Philly going towards Atlantic City. I don't live in Philly anymore, I live next to Atlantic City.

I know south jersey is not really a consideration for these things, but the easiest thing north jersey wise for us would be around Edison since its right up 95. Does anyone have anything going on there?

edison would be a great spot. it's right in the middle of everyone.

Edison in Middlesex county, yes.

Edison in Sussex county not so much.

NJ has a lot of hard to get to spots. Central is the most fair since most smashers live in North or south Jersey, they can all travel to a central location. South Jersey smashers have a good 2+ hour drive to get to north jersey tournaments and vise versa.

I think it all depends on where you can get the venue, Central is probably the most fair for south and north jerseyers, tough I wouldn't mind Egg Harbor.

If you did start hosting at Egg harbor chibo, and could get some good turnouts I would make the trip to them.

Looks promising. It's the same distance from me as no johns (70 miles) so I won't be able to be the TO at that venue. But I'll make the trip to the tournament if one of you northern smashers sets something up there

There may also be a venue in southern jersey in Pitman (It's about 15-20 minutes from Philadelphia) www. pitmanarcade.com.

I already know someone has contacted them about Brawl tournaments, but I decided to separately contact about the venue just in case. I'll also post the response I get here.

Look's like they're willing to set something up. From what I was told over the phone it should be pretty cheap but maximum occupancy is like 40 so it would probably only be a local if anything. I told the manager I'd call them back once I got some more info. Need to make sure I have people that will go before I set something up.

Tournaments in central Jersey would be fantastic. Since Oorah, is somewhat more active I might be able to go to those.

Ever since Saffron City tourneys fell off the Earth its been hard to find any reliable tournament spots within Jersey.

I remember that the Princeton tournament was pretty nice I was curious whatever happened to those. I would try to hold one here in my school but parking is terrible so I'm gonna pass =(.

Though I'm always, always down for smashfests =3

Trying to revive some melee in South Jersey, theres alot of people who play who don't post on the boards or even have accounts.

I've been trying to find time to host smashfests our tourneys, but I've been poor/busy lately haha.

Maybe some time in August we could arrange something before most college's start up again.

(Note most of the players are average don't be expecting a hidden gem, unless there's one I don't even know about of course)

But just the prospect of players getting together and advancing the jersey community, back into well an active community sounds fantastic!

It looks like a brand new store, so I don't know how many locals that come to their events, but I'm contemplating going to check the venue out.
If some of you from North Jersey end up going to check it out, maybe it could get a good turnout.

Obviously since their starting time is 7pm, it's probably not a large scale tourney or anything serious.

The only reason why no one showed up was because the scene died there. No one had smashboards accounts and everyone moved on to other things. I used to go to melee tourneys there and it was literally just a couple of my friends. but he should let us host bigger stuff.

New update on northern NJ tournaments. All in one collectibles is willing to host on our terms. however, not on the 27th. they have an event that day already. since i'm heading up to school in rochester that week, i won't be able to run anything for the rest of the year. so if you want to run an event (ILM) contact them and talk to Mike (the owner) and he's more than willing to run an event.
