I'd STILL pick these ones to best represent the series. At least, best rep it to me. How I felt each generation was like

Gen 1

Gen 2

Gen 3

Gen 4

Gen 5

Either that or starters from each

What about Keldeo? Gen 5 support maybe?

Plus as a final smash, he could form change.

Is it me or should Blaziken along with Grovyle and Mudkip be in as the Pokemon Coordinator? Ruby/ Sapphire was where Pokemon Contests were added

Tyranitar. There are not only starters, human like and more cute characters in the Pokemon world. Tyranitar, a heavy Pokemon which would fight similar to Bowser. Plus it made in Black 2/ White 2 pokedex. Pikachu didn't even make it

Also, would Eevee be a good choice?

People only want 1st Generation Pokemon

The sad truth is the only pokemon that most casual fans want to see added are the original 1st gen pokemon. The original 150 pretty much. The newer pokemon doesn't do it for most people, they are not well known like the pokemon from red/and blue. Good luck to the new generation But I don't see any of these new type of pokemons getting in.

People only want the iconic OG pokemon not the new stuff.

I see this to be true unfortunately. There are extremely popular, unique and awesome Pokemon that are not in the 1st Gen. There are almost 650 but people only want a character from the most previous and then only 1st gen.

For newer pokemon slots, my most logical guess will be a pokemon from generation V. Seeing how Lucario from D&P was chosen, my choice would be Meloetta (part normal/psychic & part normal/fighting.) One of her traits is literally related to Zelda by switch forms. Shes not that tall, probably the same height as pikachu. She could hover on the ground instead of flying in the air. Her mechanics can be also similar to Zelda by having two move sets (one in her psychic form and her fighting form with "Down B" making her change forms).
Thats one of my ideas.

It's a shame because the original 150 Pokemon are very uninspiring and boring compared to later generations.
I agree look at what we have

Just 3 Of Its Pre-Evolution

A Pokeball

A Blob Of Goo

A Pile OF Vines

And some of them are just animals

Voltorb was kinda funny for them to add like that. He was a trap pokemon made specifically into thinking he was an item.

He's the "Mimic" of pokemon.

I'd like to see all generations represented. Here's what I'd do:

Pikachu, Mewtwo (i)
Lucario (iv)

and two trainers
May - Two gen iii Pokemon + Donphan (ii)
N or Gen V trainer - any gen v Pokemon

Obviously not very likely, but I'm serious that Donphan would be a good choice for a Gen ii rep in a trainer format, and it was in the Hoenn dex, so that's probably the way to go.

Amusingly, Foongus and Amoonguss are the 5th generation's Voltorb and Electrode, as they all act as fake items in the RPGs. I guess having Poke Ball designs really helps fool players.

I'd have to say Lilligant.

Cute as a button, great dancer, what's not to love?
