Everyone's rent's being raised in the apt I'm moving out of. That ******* new owner is raising rent over 26% after the floods and a lot of people are having to move out because of it. And there are very few places anywhere near here. So everyone whats the maintenance people to fix stuff since the rents are going up and the apt manager and maintenance people are real b****y from being overworked. Blah.

It's hard to make ends meet :urg:

Is this :shaker: supposed to be a salt shaker, wth? The "salt" :salt: looks like a tampon: there I said it.

This is my first time realizing Heero is a 2013 person. Man I feel old. :(
You're only as old as you feel- *oops* sorry.

@ TropicalTaco TropicalTaco sorry I missed you. Maybe tomorrow.

The pic of the day shows the SS Beetle but Sakurai's phrasing suggests it's an item and not Link's side special. I'm still hoping for a good gale boomerang (probably the only person :/) .

Ah! So it's actually just an item? That's good to know... I was about to be more than a little pissed, lol.

Edit: After looking at the pic a little closer, it also appears that Link is very clearly in the "holding an item" animation.

The hardest question I've been asked today...

What do you like more? The Legend of Zelda series or the Super Smash Bros. series?

Ended up going with the former because you can't beat good ol' OoT, SS, and TP. :p

That is a very hard question. There are a lot more Zelda games than SSBs but I play SSBs a lot.
Hmmm... I guess I'd say SSBs by a small margin because it's one of the few games I find challenging. Some games start challenging but later can be done with my eyes closed.

Where exactly are the Apex videos for the Link boards. Wont have use for them, but I still would like to view them. Someone hiding them or something? Or do I have to ask to that person where they're at.

Zelda series hands down. The worst fight and argument Zelda fans can get into is "Which game is better: OoT or Majora's Mask?"

Sure you have some elitist snobs like the melee players who cling to OoT and say it was the best Zelda game ever made and if you disagree you're dumb, but there's so many Zelda games, with so many fans, people like them are so easily drowned out. Because Smash has only three games, those who yell the loudest in support for their game are still heard the most and hold a lot of the power.

Imo, let's make a Smash game with only Zelda series characters. It plays the same way too. It'd be better than subjecting Zelda fans to another crappy Smash game where their favorite franchise characters are so bad, they reside in their own classified tier.

+1 to Bomber outspoken microrant.

This. Very much this. I saw at one point there was a huge mod package that was reworking everything in brawl (stages, characters, songs) to be all Zelda based. Of course, it suddenly halted and there has been no news since. Ike was Biggoron Sword Link, Marth was Ghirahim, Mario and Luigi were the Lon Lon Ranch guys. Delfino plaza was Ganon's castle. *sigh* Left to dream, now. :\

Honestly that local poll I found should be labeled "Super Smash Bros. Melee vs. The Legend of Zelda Franchise". It wasn't anything to take seriously, really. However, as always it's annoying that many who took the poll didn't even take into account the other two Smash games.

Edit: Of course the Melee fanbase would band together because they play to dominate and to win, so they're currently winning the poll. Zelda fanbase seems to just play their game for fun and I vastly prefer just enjoying a game.

The Zelda franchise has that feel to it that Smash doesn't have. With all its complexities in the making of the game including its gameplay, plot, and feels that's a trait that one can never experience in Smash. Pounding your friends in 4-slot free-for-alls is fun as well as playing Fox only on Final Destination, but the intensity of the mood that arouses Zelda simply outweighs every other gaming franchise I've played.

IMO MM was the best Zelda game. What happened to all the awesome stuff it introduced like Mask transformations? On occasion Link will become Wolf Link or wear Zora armor but MM had 4 fully developed races Link could instantly morph into plus the other mask powers and situational transformations like Fierce Deity ('I' before 'E' except after 'C' and in random words like 'weird', 'foreign' and 'deity' :psycho:) and Giant Link. That should have been expanded on in following Zelda games.

I'd like to see a full game that plays with smash controls like Subspace but has a story and is fleshed out. That could be really cool for Metroid, Zelda etc. Subspace was basically like a better Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. I really liked that exploration Kirby style paired with fighting game controls and complexity.

Yeah, Majora's mask was probably my most magical Zelda experience, but nothing beats the hugeness and feel of TP for me. I just can't get past how big it all is. The world just feels more real and believable I guess. I would say a game that plays like smash/Subspace wouldn't be completely impossible as we're seeing a DW Zelda game being currently developed. Ya never know.

On an unrelated note, I finished my commission for SAU and am sending the completed score (and mp3) to the conductor now! I hope it is well received...

While I enjoyed TP's darker feel and WW's story, I gotta admit that from WW down to today I've been enjoying the Zelda series less in general (So much handholding :( ). It's been more enjoyable for me to go back in time in the Zelda series, starting from MM, than to play forwards in it. Zelda has been doing a lot of handhelds lately, and they don't get me nearly as much as the console versions (Admittedly I never could force myself to finish OoS/OoA or Link's Awakening xD). I'm pretty much just waiting for the WiiU Zelda to decide if I really do just like the depth that the console versions provide or if the series is starting to lose its shine to me in general :/

My personal favorite was MM for it's atmosphere, and the way it made me feel as a person. There are also several songs in the game that helped me relax enough to cope with some serious depression in my life a long time ago, so I'm quite madly in love with the soundtrack.
The first Zelda game I beat was Adventure of Link because it was the first one I played and I got super into it, not realizing most people consider it to be the hardest game in the series. Dad and I had both gold carts so he ran through the first one while I played the second whenever I could, and I kinda wish there was more love for side-scroller Zelda.

I didn't have a Snes as a kid, so Alttp doesn't have the same nostalgia drip for me, and I honestly still find it an incredible game on it's own. My first full playthrough was the four sword edition on GBA so I had the extra boss to deal with as well. (Love that fight, and wish he was in more games)
I beat Awakening and both Oracles by borrowing the games from a friend (even fought ganon in the oracle link-up!) and I ended up getting MM before OoT.
The only Zelda games I haven't played and beat are BS Zelda on the Satelliview (who here even has?), the three CD-I games (ragequit all three at different intervals), and the stupid Tingle in rupeeland games (srsly why bother...)

I can't in good conscious that any of the main Zelda games weren't worth the time I gave em.

Zeldas, like most games, have gotten very easy. Not just in the sheer difficulty to survive but also the hints and explanations of where to go and what to do.
Yeah, I'm not going to lie, the DEAD OBVIOUS hints that I've seen so far in ALBW have greatly disappointed me. Running through the first two dungeons pretty much turned my brain onto snooze mode. However, I have to give props to Nintendo for the 2D Link idea. I just hope that they'll try to incorporate the mechanic into a challenging Zelda title in the future. :(

TBH I'm really surprised that so many of you like MM as your favorite Zelda title; MM is definitely my fav Zelda title, too. I was never interested in video games until I saw a playable demo of it in a store, and my experience playing it led my parents to rent a N64, and then eventually to start buying me systems. I didn't get MM until later down the road, but it's always been one of my favorites.

However, in terms of my favorite between the Zelda and Smash series, I'd have to say the Smash series is my fav. When I was 12-18 some of my friends were jocks, some were complete nerds, but the one thing we could all agree on was playing Smash, ha ha. We put in so much time playing together.

I haven't played A Link Between Worlds yet. Sometime when prices drop I'll buy a 3DS and get some games for it, one of which will be ALBW.

If I had to rank the Zelda games I've beaten:
MM, TP, ALttP, OoT (Master Quest included), Link's Awakening, SS, LoZ NES, Four Swords Adventures, OoS, OoA, ZeldaII, Four Swords (bonus for ALttP on GBA)

My ideal next Zelda game would be a direct sequel to TP, in that style mixed with a Majora's Mask like premise. Sort of like TP is a different OoT so the next Zelda would be a different MM (TP is to OoT as the next Zelda is to MM).
But IDK what Nintendo will end up doing. They've waited so long and given no details. Who knows, maybe Link will be a girl in it. I really hope it leans realistic and not Toon style. I think since they released a HD WW for the Wii U it means the next Zelda won't be Toon style.

TBH, I'm not aware of Izaw having any notable rankings in events. I'm going to sound like Afrotwist (older Link player from Europe) here but I think Izaw was popular because he over hyped himself. Like this thread: http://smashboards.com/threads/izaw-matches-new-matches-against-a-pro-dedede.173455/
That DDD doesn't even know how to shield grab. He calls it a "truly PRO Dedede" but even back then the DDD is terrible. He just ignored the video thread and hyped himself over nothing. IMO Mr.R is the best European Link.

It's not hard to beat bad people even with -3 MUs but it doesn't mean anything. It's like if I said "Rizen beats a truly Pro MK http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7QUtddZt70 " and made a thread about it. :ohwell:

More to the point I think Izaw has an extremely flashy but unsafe playstyle that works against scrubby players but good people would tear apart. People think they can approach with DAC and go aggro with Link but a simple shield grab beats it. Link's all about spacing. ATs should support spacing.

^ Haha, I know exactly what you're talking about. I tend to do unnecessary flashy stuff with Link a whole bunch. I partly blame Izaw since, he was the talk of the town when I started to play a whole bunch of competitive Wi-fi and would usually refer to his videos on what to do. xP

Also, the featured videos at the end of your youtube video make me lol. RIZEN KILLED TUPAC

I certainly agree but I have found there are lots of shiny gems in his playing that can be applied to safer playing. You're right about the hype, though. Everything from homemade documentaries to threads to big money matches. It's not all misplaced, though; I've seen some amazing things in his playing and I can't say it's all luck; though I suppose that's what you get with unsafe playing. Get 3 stocked by a metaknight within 2 minutes then come back and 2 stock the same metaknight on the same level.

It's also very easy to cherry pick what matches a player shows for good results. I admit I do that and frankly everyone does. If you play well with good spacing you'll have a lot more close games and better outcomes. It's possible to get some good flashy games in and show them but overall a lot less successful.
I think this is why people are afraid of Ganon; when he goes on a rampage it's scary. ...But that very rarely happens :/

Izaw? The guy who beat world-professional top pro players Rebaz and Haze? The guy whom hasn't even won a single tournament with Link? The guy whom thinks flashiness is the key to success? THAT IZAW?!?!?!???

LordXavier (arguably best Brawl Link) and Lord HDL (a Melee Link) have both been my biggest influences as a P:M Link. Utilizing Link's spacing tools is incredibly important in addition to maximizing his movement, and I look deep into both Brawl's and Melee's Link metagames to adopt into my P:M playstyle. Playing flashy is always fun though, so I have to credit Izaw for that.

To be fair, Izaw might have done stuff I don't know about and he did bring attention to Link. :ohwell:

IMO the best Link right now is LordXavior. Scizor and ALSM are up there too. This is based on me not knowing what Legan, Mr.R, Deva and Kirinblaze are doing and assuming they haven't used Link for a while. I'm pretty good but I don't have the big region tourney results; more locals and wifi.

BUT you go out of your way to help nublets get better so that's got to count for something, right?

As for Izaw, his jab cancel was ridiculous. I've seen him pretty consistently (multiple times a match and in multiple matches) land up to three sets in a row and still make something of it. He also was pretty good with jab locks.

More unrelated news, but the conductor liked the piece I wrote! There was a minor technical issue with the saxophones; altissimo notes were a bit high for this level of musicians; but that was easily reworked so we're going to sight-read it with the band this Monday! Which means I most likely get paid! Haha. Flying pretty high right now! Being at a professional level in other areas of my life makes me less sad about being so bad at brawl XD

Here's some slight evidence Link will get buffs in SSB4:
https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAAYUKlITh2Nfg
"Pic of the day. Both Link and Pit use bows, but when they fire simultaneously, their arrows meet and cancel out closer to Pit. Besides attack power and projectile speed, there are many elements that affect tactics, such as accuracy, vulnerability after attacking, and even seemingly unrelated features like a character's physical abilities."

"Oh, I don't listen to players who enjoy my game competitively, but all I do is talk complex strategy on my Pic of the Day page."

TBH, from what I've seen of the items I really like the direction they are headed. This time around they seem far more about zoning and strategy. Will they find use in truly competitive Smash? No. But for more casual leagues like the one I'm running at my uni, the items will add a lot of layers of strategy. It'll be quite fun.
