Well today's been full of feeling liek ****. Sore throat all day, then when I get over that, I get under the weather. It's stupid how all I really needed was rest, but I take a hot shower before hopping in bed, and for the past hour and a half, I've been unable to sleep and I feel better now. I swear man, water has teh healz.
If the Dynasty Hyrule Warriors game isn't the next wii u Zelda then it might be kind of fun. It better not be though...
Edit, http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...asty_warriors_and_its_coming_to_wii_u_in_2014
"The game is due for release some time in 2014, and Nintendo President Satoru Iwata was keen to stress that this isn't the next instalment in the Zelda franchise, but an entirely separate title."
Thank the goddesses. (Ha, the misspelled 'installment')
I hope that that ends up being a cheap game OR that it will have better looking graphics when it is released than that. It also looks way too easy. Also, note moblins randomly spawning right by Link at 0:34. I'm appalled Nintendo would make an ad like that, honestly.
Granted, they haven't even got a name for it yet, and it could be a game being developed by a third party (which would be awesome imo). So hopefully it's just early in development.
Keep in mind this is the proud company who brought us great games like Link's Crossbow Training and Mario Basketball. This lives up to their spin off standards:
Is this seriously going to be a video game? Jesus! It looks okay.. I guess. I don't think the Wii U is going to be very successful like how well the Wii did. Maybe the Wii U will knock all games out with Smash 4. What do you guys think?

It's not a matter of opinion about whether it is going to be less successful than the Wii; it is already established fact.
The main draws for the Wii were motion sensing capabilities and Nintendo's monster franchises (Metroid, Mario, Legend of Zelda, Smash Bros). Most everybody that I talk to that is still a gamer says they either bought the Wii for Smash Bros or that Smash Bros is the only game they still are bothered to play on the Wii.
The Wii U has been out twelve months. Name me the games that come from monster Nintendo franchises that are out on it. ...That's very few games for a system that has been out for twelve months.
TThere are games that will sell Wii U's, though (The new LoZ, Smash Bros). However, those are all out still in the blue yonder. So the best is still ahead for the Wii U, but it has had a lackluster performance so far and that will logically hurt it for even when the new games come out.
^Wii U could still pull a 3DS; that had a terrible start.
The Wii U has Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D World but not many good 1st party games, true. They need good games; it's that simple
3DS recipie for success: good games + a significantly dropped price.
So, everything the WIi U still needs, Rizen.
Oh, and Nintendo needs some serious PR for the Wii U. There's still a large number of potential consumers who are misinformed about the specs (which aren't amazing, but aren't terrible like they are said to be) and the Wii U being a gamepad, as though it is some sort of add-on for the Wii.
Yes, that is true, however; the Wii already came with all those speical devices and such. The only thing the Wii U can do is just try to come up and make better games than the Wii. I'm not going to believe that the Wii U can. Heck, the Game Cube was a bigger success than the Wii itself. The only thing that will kind of convince me to buy a Wii U is Smash 4. And the game looks exactly like Brawl, only better graphics and more characters I assume.
Nintedo needs to team up with game designers and bring back the successful games. Like Goemon <3, Pokemon Stadium, Sonic Battle, Glover, Dragon ball Z game without the new bs style of DZ. Bring back the old! Old is beautiful~
@ Rizen, I agree, Nintendo needs to increase games but with a goodgame-play experience. And how are you feeling now? Hope you're doing better =O
Oh yeah... Forgot about the PS2. Loved that console! And I don't know Rizen.. Game Cube was a better success than the Wii. I mean, all the games were amazing!

Since it's on topic, I made a thread about why next gen console games need to have more effort put into them on another site:
I want to rant a bit and discuss why the next gen consoles (PS4, Xbox One and Wii U) are doing poorly relating to their games. Frankly I think a lot of this applies to movies and TV too.
After looking up Xbox One and PS4 game reviews and pairing that with what I already know about the Wii U, it's obvious that most next gen games are falling short of past generation games.

My Wii U evaluation:
It's no secret Nintendo has not delivered many great games for the wii U. Big franchise like Zelda, SSB4 and Metroid are vaguely hinted for the future but most of what the present holds seems like half-assed more of the same (Super Luigi U) or games reviving the past (Wind Waker HD).
It has some decent games like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Zombi U, Sonic Lost World, DK Country Tropical Freeze and others (I haven't played all these and am basing this partially on reviews). But I feel they are not delivering like they should be.
It's not the golden age of gaming. Game quality, as in effort and making something special, has been declining for a generation and now it's catching up with the companies. Looking back at the SNES and PS1/N64 eras they had a lot more games that were fresh, new, well made and creative. Now it seems like most games fall into one or more of these 5 categories:
1 Riding on graphics with little else. An example of this is Knack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FD3Km5KZl-Y
Looks like they need to flesh out the story, characters and gameplay.
One of my pet peeves with games is that they sacrifice other elements for good graphics when they should have AI, controls, camera, story, gameplay, etc even better than previous gen consoles but they end up worse.
Crimson Dragon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aeGy2ezbZg
This isn't the N64 era; by now game developers should know how to align and program a camera.
Ryze, Forza 5, a lot of games fit in here.
2 Half-***ed attempts to use the popularity of other things and not put any thought or effort into the game.
IMO Zombi games have been done to death many times over (pun intended). With fitness games and many party games, if you've played one you've played them all. Same goes for many sports games, cross overs etc. This applies to a lot of movie based games (as in shown in the theater movies) as always.
Games like FFXIII-2 (so I've heard) and other sequels would probably be better to not have been made. To summarize, these games wouldn't have existed if not for a big money-making movie or franchise and probably shouldn't have been made anyway.
3 More of the exact same thing:
Sorry to games like New Super Mario Bros (etc) but these have all blended together for a lo-o-ong time. I've beaten the NES Mario 1, 2 and 3, Super Mario World, New SMB for DS, New SMB Wii and have played many of the Mario Land Game Boy Games. Frankly SMB3 and World remain my favorites. Why Should I play New SMB Wii U or more so Luigi U?
Similarly, Super Mario 3D World is basically Super Mario 3D Land. What happened to innovative Mario games? Anyone remember Super Mario 64 when that 1st came out? Then Sunshine for the Game Cube and Galaxy for the Wii? Why is the Wii U 3D Mario something that could have been done on the Game Cube (with better graphics though)? Where's Super Mario Universe? Give us something new that actually shows what this gen councils can do!
This applies to many racing games, fighting games, party games, and almost every genera. While it's difficult to be truly creative, many games really aren't even trying anymore.
I remember Beetle Adventure Racing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beetle_Adventure_Racing that was a great, original racing game that broke the mold. It can be done. Games like Forza 5, recent Grand Trismo games and others feel like yet another version of 'you've played one, you've played them all'.
4 Looks like, has as many options as, plays like and should be with, previous gen games.
For comparison Killzone Shadow Fall: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmXDqH26EMo
I have to say this game looks gorgeous and did a lot of things right. Sadly most games don't look nearly this good. What often happens is a new generation of consoles comes out, boasting killer graphics, better capabilities and all that, then maybe 1 out of 20 games actually hold them up.
I remember when the Wii launched, Twilight Princes launched with it to show skeptics that the wii could include motion controls into a hard core, beautiful looking game. Then very few games lived up to that and we got a lot of c*** like Soul Calibur Legends *shudder*.
If you look at many of the next gen games compared with the previous gen's good graphic games there often isn't much difference. Maybe the overall image quality is boosted but not nearly enough to justify the technology improvements and all the stuff that has been boasted about next gens. The same often goes for the amount of content, features and quality of controls.
This is a good place to throw in that Final Fantasy games since FFX have had less overall monsters except for clones with different coloration; what's the deal?
There's no excuse for regressing like games have.
5 Milking past success:
The HD Wind Waker remake is a good example. I am not criticizing the fact that WW/Ocarina of Time/etc were remade or games like Darksiders 2 were released again or even how old games can be downloaded again (Okay, maybe I'm criticizing Ocarina of Time remakes/re-releases because there have been so many of them: N64, GC Master Quest Promo, GC Zelda Collectors edition promo, Wii Virtual console, wii U virtual console, and finally 3DS remake). My criticism is that very few good new games are coming out! Old games are great but there should be a lot more new games with original premises and all the effort put into these great old games but with next gen graphics!

Bottom line is games cannot ride completely on graphics or the consoles' personal gimmicks. Game developers need to actually put effort into games again. You can tell when a great game has had the staff put their heart into making it the best game possible. Games like A Link To The Past, Final Fantasy VII, Rayman Legends, Smash Bros Melee and others.
The company who wins the console wars will be the one who gives gamers a reason to buy their system. At the end of the day, gamers just want great games!
Back at the what?.. Anyway, I feel the reason why game designers aren't. Really putting in the work, because of how people complain about the graphics... What are we Owls? It's a game, let the desginers take their time on the game-play, not the graphics! Sure it will make the game look more nicer, but what about the game itself? Honestly, I believe the reason why games aren't the way they use to be, because of how people demand this and that, and it shakes the game desginers and makes them think too hard, and then they release a sorry game. I mean, what more is there to it? People complain and 'think' they're going to fix the problem, but all they did was make the problem even worse. I have a feeling that smash 4 isn't going to be that great... Maybe Meagan and that Wii fit trainer will be the only thing good about the new game. And have you seen the new Killer Instinct game? I've officaily lost hope for the next gneration of gamers. Heck, the new gamers are a face palm to us old gamers and game lovers.
Although the flip-side of this is if you're paying $500 for an Xbox One you expect good graphics for that kind of money. And Nintendo fans generally care less about graphics but PS and Xbox fans care more because the previous gen focus was supposed to be great res. Just playing the devil's advocate here.
I agree that graphics are focused on too much in terms of resolution without actually looking at how much effort was put into the originality, art, concept and so on. And even more so, looking at how good the game is regardless of graphics.
If I could, I'd make a video game. I'd then list all the important aspects of a game: graphics, gameplay, dialogue, genre, etc. I'd then take a poll and have the players place in order what they thought was important for a game. I'd take that data, see what took priority over what, then take that value and apply it to my funds. I'll sell the game (for profit or loss) and if people complain, I'll make an official statement saying "This was YOUR game that YOU created." So lets say out of everyone who voted, the tallies showed that Grahpics were voted the most important and the gameplay last. So I'll dedicate 1% of my budget to gameplay, and when they compain the game sucks, I'll just say "It may be a crappy gameplay but hey, we dedicated 90% of our budget to graphics like you wanted."
Well, good luck with having good game-play, because game designers are just going to go beyond HD. marks my words on what I just typed. It will happen. So, keep wanting better graphics and forget about the game itself. Honestly, why don't game designers just make a perfect HD Case, so you can enjoy the game. :D Best graphics you can ever see and it doesn't involve game-play, so you can just stare at the graphics. Have fun~
I think people are getting that games need more than graphics and I hope developers realize this soon. The bad sales and lack of hype for current gen consoles and games shows that developers need to start making great games again.
