Rize, I'm still at home, I never planned on going to WHOBO, well at least not after I shot off my mouth about those MM's. Plus with the stuff that's been going on this weekend at home, I couldn't have gone anyway because I was needed here. Maybe next year once Smash 4 comes out. I'm beginning to feel that I want to use Smash for as a vehicle to teach me how to have a winning attitude and actually accomplish something, but most of all overcome my fear of becoming good at something and standing on top of the rest of my peers. I have that legitimate, but stupid fear of success, only because I don't want to wind up alone because of it. :(

But anyway, Smash 4, I'm hype, gonna main Link, TL, and Random. I'm gonna be a top contender in the country!

^An important thing to remember is to play who you want, because you want to, and have fun.
Sorry things are not working out how you want. I know the feeling of being needed and missing other stuff because of it. :(
I practiced with a friend yesterday and predictably I'm really rusty (especially at Melee, since I can't practice it at all on my Wii anymore). Got a tourney next week and I'm hoping to have fun (losing)!
^Good Luck :bee:. Sorry I can't help you practice on wifi.

BTW, what is your avatar?

I'm pretty sure I'll be fine come next weekend. All I have to do is survive the school week (which goes by quickly as it is), and by Thursday, I'll be in Baton Rouge doing my own thing, and then running my tournament on Saturday. I also found a new venue at a game lan place out by my house. It's so amazing! I'm pretty sure I'm going to start having some of the best run monthlies in the state now because of my venue. I can't wait to get to work on it.

His avatar is the new bat pokemon from X and Y, I forget the name.

Smash has been a huge troll to me. I wanna main Link, but I'm always somehow more gifted with another character. Project M has been the hugest troll, where Link had to be my SECOND BEST character whereas his girlfriend just happened to be my best. :/

Smash 4 better be the game I can use Link. I need the Triforce of Courage to allow me to do so. D:

It would be nice if Smash 4 was like P:M. I like the mechanics of P:M alot, which is why I'm highly considering getting into it more.

You could keep him as a secondary. Anyone who's seriously attempted to use Link will tell you, Link is crazy hard to use. IMO he's -by far- the hardest character to learn and use properly and I play ten characters well
http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/8383/rizencharacters89122.jpg
(+Bowser and MK)
Link can't just auto pilot tactics; he must constantly be reading and reacting accordingly with 3 complex projectiles and his closer moves, switching from moving camp to melee to projectiles and back with Zair as a generous median. He can't just hop and press 'B' to camp either, lol. He's also extremely unforgiving.
I wouldn't blame anyone for not using Link if they don't want to, lol.

We're all hoping Link will be viable in SSB4.

If you still want to improve your Link and keep him on the side we can help you with that :)

Yeah, it's called Noivern, a Flying/Dragon type. They have so many good new Dragon type Pokemon, and I like them all, just in time for them to be countered by Fairy types, lol! xD

The life of a Link main. It just seems to hard-counter everything you try to do because...well..you main Link.

I pretty much am hoping Link will be a viable character, but not a top tier one, because otherwise the Link forums will just be swamped by Link fanboys and I won't feel as special about being a hardcore one, ha ha.

Link should be a good character, at least top mid tier. Look at his tools and moves. If they actually made them useful, he'd be a good character to play.

Yeah, if only they altered the projectiles so they could be used as great zoning tools, fast back air that can combo into itself, gave him a slightly more difficult to gimp recovery, made him faster in the air and on the ground, and made his hurtbox smaller he'd be a mid/top tier character!

Oh, Toon Link.

Yeah, Bomber, why aren't you repping P:M Link more?

It sounds like you need to do some hype MMs to me

My problem is the PM community isn't that strong here in Louisiana. Though since I'll be hosting tournaments at a game lan, I'll try and get the casuals into it so there i some sort of P:M scene.

I don't know. I haven't heard anything about a tier list. I've just been told that everyone is remotely good on their own, so it just sounds like it's a matter of skill.

Link I believe is upper-mid tier in P:M. He was buffed so much from his Melee counterpart with even a few of his Brawl traits that he's become incredible. Though I'll note he's not that much easier to use, seeing as though his spacing and tech game is pretty intense. Even Hylian and InternetExplorer have a lot of room for improvement.

The same amount of effort you put into Brawl Link, you would get far better results from P:M Link.

(I feel really bad for showing my bias on a Brawl-related forum. Sorry my fellow knights. :( )

I don't think that anybody who knows about P:M disagrees that it's better competitively than Brawl, especially for Link, ha ha. As long as you aren't drooling fanboyism and are drooling sense I don't mind what you say.

Get out, son.

Nah. There's literally no one around who plays or has P:M and I can't use it off of my defunct Wii (only normal Brawl, ha ha--believe me: I've tried). I did get to play it with a friend before he left on a super long trip and Link was super fun to zone at midrange (I think this was during or before the 1.6 update? as I said, I've barely played it). Comboing stuff like dair and fair out of boomerangs, man--loved it.

At least I can download Melee to my external harddrive--also this is probably totally against the rules but if anybody can link me to a legit place I can get it, I'd appreciate it.

Imo, easy and quick fix. Pick up Smash 64 and Link. You space correctly or die.

What do you guys think about the stages shown in the screenshots?
http://www.smashbros.com/us/
BF and SV will probably be neutral but SV looks to have a slightly more complex platform movement.
The Wuhu flyover might end up tilting like Lylat.
The wii fit stage might be neutral or maybe have things appear like Wario Ware.
IDK who the boxing ring stage will work.
The metroid stage is looking cool.
Sonic seems to have a stage based on Green Hill Zone or Lost World.
Skyloft might be like Delfino.

All the stages look beautiful :)

Mini Rant Time regarding Smash 4:

I'm a Melee player, sure, but it pisses me off that 90% of the competitive Melee fanbase is already finding reasons to hate Smash 4 before it even comes out. A game doesn't have to be COMPETITIVE to be FUN. Heck, how do you think Brawl became far more popular than Melee ever did? Go ahead and berate Smash 4 and worship Project M as much as you want, but you'll be surprised when the former game comes out and turns out to be the best game of 2014. And heck, what happens when Smash 4 has more competitive potential than Melee?

What idiots.

I think it's just that generation of players. Just seeing how the people in the melee community are in my state, I wouldn't doubt if that sample holds consistent with the rest of the country. They just feel they (and their game) are better than everyone and everything else. They feel nothing will ever best them (or their game), and anyone who doesn't agree with them is just a scrub. By definition, they are elitist. Every community has them, some more than others. They also will carry more pride now since melee is considered a fighting game and was worthy enough to make it into EVO permanently. You just need to brush those guys off. They really can't do anything except trash talk you and try and start ****. I'm talking from personal experience. As much as I've let those people get to me in the past, I find it's not worth it. They will have their fun with you and then crawl back into their holes. You have to keep in mind, they could care less what they are doing is childish and really scrubby, so it's up to you to decide whether or not you will let those kinds of people effect you.

I've decided to pick up P:M because Brawl isn't fun for me anymore, and I feel I will have more fun and better luck at being good in P:M. Yeah, I'm going to make fun of Brawl from time to time, but only for some harmless fun. I won't go super serious like some people and take a dump on you for playing a game you find fun and I don't. I am actually looking forward to Smash 4. There's going to be those critics, but as the saying goes: haters gonna hate. You ignore them, and move on with your life. They are just being big whiners and are an embarrassment to their community.

^this.

Smash 4 could be more balanced than previous SSBs games. This time the developers are more aware of past mistakes and including more people into the balancing.

I don't disagree with you Bomber but while I don't start fights with these big boys, it still frustrates me immensely so I had to rant it (especially due to the fact my Melee club of 200+ people hates the game with a passion). I don't participate in arguments over Smash 4 and Project M, but it gets unimaginably annoying when I see this type of nonsense in almost every discussion regarding Smash 4.

Ano, I'm not really active on Smashboards anymore. I'm referring to mostly Facebook Smash groups now.

There's a lot of hating around :(. Low tiers get hate, Australia got a lot of hating in another thread, Brawl, many things... I think people don't realize how much of a cancer hating is on a community if they've never experienced it. Lol I had a mod tell me to not report posts for 'hatin'. It's sad. :c

The Link boards are always awesome though :awesome:

Link boards are awesome. TL skype chat is awesome. So much better than when I was on the PT boards.

And yeah, the smash community has a lot of nice players and a lot of mean players. Its sad to see that the mean players get highlighted more than the nice ones, and we've allowed their kind of attitude to spread and become the dominant culture of smash.

Lol if anything Wolf and Zelda are my next best characters and PT's in my B tier.
S
Link
A
Zelda, Wolf
B
PT, G&W, Ganon, Bowser
C
MK, Random

Hopefully I'll get my stuff moved back tomorrow and be able to wifi in a day or two. This is taking FOREVER and nobody tells me anything :c. A few minutes ago people finished putting the boards in under my kitchen cupboards. I had the bottoms barricaded so my cat and turtle wouldn't crawl down there and get hella dirty.

I think at this moment in time, my PT and TL are equal, and that's not saying much. My random is just.... random. lol. But I do enjoy when people are gullible enough to random ditto me, I typically come out on top.

My PT has dramatically improved. It's probably near par with my Link right now. Which is helped out by the lack of Link I've been playing at all recently.

Also, my Wolf is unusually C-sticky lately. FSMASH AND DOWNSMASH SPAM OHMYGOSH ITS NOOBSPAM

But it always wins on WiFi, n00b or no

At my last tournament, I went all random and I got random Zelda and man did I do some amazing tricks with her. I only did so well because the person I was playing against went random too, and got Link (tehe). I almost worried for a second because I was expecting to get walled by projectiles. When I realized that wasn't going to happen, I just unleashed Din's Hellfire upon him and performed some pretty cool combos.

My tier list for all Smash games:

SS
Zelda (P:M)
S
Marth (Melee), Link (Brawl), MK (Brawl)
A
ZSS (Brawl/rusty...), Peach (Melee/rusty...), Falco (Melee), Captain Falcon (64)
B

I need to at least learn Link in every game, no? :p

I don't see Link in 64 on that list... *glares*

Still dead serious, playing Link in 64 will teach you many fundamentals you can carry over to every smash game.
