This is what I'm worried about as well. On the one hand, I have no reason to distrust that particular information and yet I still can't make sense of it. I'd wonder if tomfoolery existed but in this event, it shouldn't, should it? There's nothing in this game to allow for that?

So Wott's post was relatively helpful. Gonna just go with the flow. Will worry more about phases other than Morning when we're in them.

One thing that is still kind of tripping me up though is how scumhunting is actually intended to work in this game. No flips, and apparently we mainly eliminate scum by beating them in matches so they can't advance? How do we decide matches? And how do we decide byes based on no info? Anyone wanna give me the super Cliff's Notes on how that all unfolded on D1 and D2 (or at least D1)?

Very little of this game seems to be a mafia game.

It's not really much of a mafia game and there's been a lot of headcracking from a few people's parts to get people to continue playing and to keep reading people because those elements still exist in this game and there's been resistance on that part. A lot of morning phase 1 was spent dealing with that, actually, and even then there are still a few rebels (Soup, Gheb, and Kantrip to name a few).

I'm sorry about the cliff's notes, most people here barely remember the game themselves I imagine. All I know is that you replaced into the grimiest slot in the game after he basically said "scumhunting is bad guys," got pressured for it by my slot, and then dipped because he's a *****. This game's kind of a blur for me, I just know I don't like Kantrip, Gheb, or Rake, that Soup is iffy for me, that most of the active posters are town from my point of view, and that Shoco is a ****.

Rake supposedly got a text last night. Considering that the OP only mentions one role with a phone and that that role belongs to mafia, this essentially means mafia tried to contact him last night. This means either the mafia don't know each other, that particular mafiat can send messages out to anyone in the game (but I don't see why he'd send a message to Rake), or Rake is mafia and is feigning ignorance.

Would Rake really take the initiate as mafia and go "hey, if i feign that i got a text, maybe it will somehow coincidentally clear me." Doesn't seem like a mafia rake thing to do. I think I'm leaning on the side of ****ery the more I think about it, though I couldn't tell you what idea mafia had trying to contact a townie.

Current gameplan is to figure out how to play the game. I have no reads other than Wots been helpful to me and he doesn't have to be, and that Kanty going full gut on his reads is no bueno. Whenever Kanty has played well as town, it has been by being relatively analytical (I'm thinking of Persona mafia specifically).

I know nothing about shenanigans between my slot and Rake outside of the fact that Gheb hilariously beat Rake by spamming the same move over and over. Gheb's wifom game in rock-paper-scissors must be dope.

Side question: What is the actual point of throwing matches? I've seen that brought up a couple of times, that if you think you're fighting a townie, try to throw the game. I don't get it. Shouldn't you just always try to win just in case you're not fighting a townie?

With a contacting role: that contacting needs to achieve something. i'd think

if it hits a townie like it did me; no big deal it's a useless message doesnt give town much but knowledge they already had via mod.

We already knew about this. The only thing it does is confirm that the phone guy moves at night while poisoner moves at lunch. This means the pro and the dev move probably at match and at morning phase respectively.

Soup's...interesting. I don't mind him overall but certain aspects of his play keep nagging at me, like auto-dropping the information he has about Terra or the fact that he was appealing for trust early in the game. Every time I think I might be able to trust him, he seemingly goes full ****** and breaks it almost immediately and I don't like that.

Nah he was likely fishing for Kantrip and really Kantrip alone. I doubt you were the reason at all for why he targeted you.

What I'm curious about is why he didn't target Pawn v Rake, the most interesting match of the day honestly.
