Well The Tokyo Game Show is going on, and Nintendo aren’t coming to show. Doesn’t mean no Brawl news! Koonami, of Metal Gear fame have sneakily shown off some screens of Snake, who’s been otherwise absent in news since before the relaunch off the Dojo.

Thanks to <a href="http://smashboards.com/member.php?u=68664">Venus of the Desert Bloom </a> from our forums, we have a rough translation.

I couldn’t read the first kanji after “mochiron da” save for “dai” which usually means big (ex. daigaku = college or university). The second kanji seems to be either “ki” or “sa” but I do not believe “daiki” or “daisa” are words.

Second picture
“Mario is from the year 1981…” First line.

Yet again, the kanji and hurigana are smudged and unable to read so the three-set kanji are not in the translation. However I do make out “ha” or “ho”, and two “u”’s.
I could not make out any of the kanji at all save for two of them and even then, I could get them to fit in context.</blockquote>

As happy as I am to see completely new Snake pictures I'm even more excited to see Mr. Saturn as well as the Home Run Bat return as items in Brawl.

Also, on that same picture (the last one) it looks like Snake's butt was a little hungry :S

Well when it comes down to it the frequency of the Snake dailogue sequences do show a sign that he may have a role in Single player, strengthening the argument that multiple branches will be available and possible unlockable branches.

I was thinking it could be like starfox command where one branch is there and other are unlocked, and like Pokemon Snap or Starfox 64 where doing certain actions allow you to trake a different route and a new chapter (like picking a certain princess for instance). That way unlocking characters would open new story lines and opening new storylines would unlock new characters.

oops,I got off on a tangent. Snake? Snake! Snnaaaaaaakee!

Kanji word in the first screen is "Taisa" which is the military rank of captain.

So it would be: "Of course captain, this is Mario."

Not when you realize Snakes Icon is 17. It saddens me. The music however, and the character unbeleviable. So does this mean Sakurai's going to start revealing unockable characters?

I knew todays update was gonna be Snake I had a feeling. I also had a feeling it was gonna be a big update triple at that hell yeah. This is so cool Im glad Snake is a playable characterin Brawl.

Just thought of that. Maybe half the roster is hidden, since ya know from SSB64 to Melee we we had a increase in numbers and percentages of newcomers.

Anyways, that's AWSOME! He uses that in MGS3, but it's a shame he won't use a knife and slit his throat. Aww well, this confirms Snake will use Close Quaters Combat like his mentor and man he's cloned off, Naked Snake/Big Boss did in MGS3, and like he will do in MGS4. I can't wait for this one! His grabs, possibly box shield [likely; and if not a taunt], etc. Also, in MGS3, Naked Snake/Big Boss' weaponless attacks went kick, punch, somewat harder kick. In MGs1 and 2, Solid Snake and Raiden went kick, punch, spin kick. In the top right pic, he is confirmed to do the spin kick. Definitely, so it will defiitely be a mix of his MGS4 moves, MGS 1 [twin snakes as well] & 2 moves, and Naked Snake's/Big Boss' MGS3 moves. "Pretty tasty"

Anthadd from the Starmen.net forums translated the first two screen shots:

"I don't know. That first codec transmission, the one with Mario, appears to say "Of course, this is the colonel/captain. His name is Mario."

And I think the second one is "Since[1] we first acknowledged him in 1981, he's been winning acclaim across the world."

[1] If I've translated this correctly, I'm using the temporal since (i.e. "Since Friday") as compared to the causal since ("Since you're stupid")."

And here's Tomato's (also from Starmen.net) version:

"Of course I do, Colonel. That's Mario.
Ever since his first apperance in 1981, he's garnered worldwide acclaim."

I'm going to say when Mario gets blown out of the stadium he somehow enters into Snake's world.
