My process for threads without support lists has been to go from posts made after July 15th - the day that KMDP
posted the initial counts for everyone - and then add the new supporters that jump in after July 15th to the original total. Midna is marked as having 11 supporters in this thread's opening post, and didn't get any new ones after that date (in fact, there hasn't been a post in the thread since June), but I took a look back to the earlier pages and I'm seeing more than 11 on the first page too. So maybe the wrong thread got counted for the original post or something?
But yeah, you're definitely right! Looking forward to seeing her actual total. This is why it's good to get a second count!
Surprised it wasn't more, some people seemed very undecided to me. One guy lent their support for her to be an AT again, so I didn't count that. Overall I know a few people on SB that love her that never showed to that thread so I'm assuming the number is larger, but for now it's 38.

I'm going to insert the original draft of the OP, to save space on the actual OP.
A few days ago, I found myself interested in finding out who was the most supported character on Smashboards. So, I took it upon myself to find out. This is a ranking of (almost) all characters who have a support thread for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This list is accurate to the 15th May 2018, and I probably won't update it (since it was a massive three day undertaking and I have better things to do )
There are 351 Characters with threads, by my count; some may have slipped through the cracks, and some of the support counts may be slightly inaccurate (hey, I'm only human).
The list includes characters presumed disconfirmed, but not characters who are confirmed playable.

All in all, there are 6,635 "I Supports!" counted. I personally counted a large number of them, but I didn't count all of them. People are welcome to count Supporters themselves to correct me, if they take issue with a character's placement.
Heh... had I known that Layton was one supporter away from tying with Rayman and Lip I would have probably mentioned that we did get one more supporter, being at 125 as well now. Oh well. Being supposedly in the top ten at Smashboards this month is pretty neat too.
Unless there's a joke I'm missing or the supporters are specifically supporting a Sonic that won a medal in one of those Mario vs Sonic at the Olympics games, shouldn't it be Metal Sonic?
If this hasn't been updated yet. Layton's at 126 supporters now.
Alright I'll leave you to it now, until next month. Let me know if you need any more updates in regards to the state of the Layton and Ganon support threads.
You probably should have separated the question how many newcomers you expect into unique and echoes. I don't expect that many new characters, but I do think we have decent number of echoes left

I briefly thought of having the answers to that question be stuff like "1 New, 1 Echo" "1 New, 2 Echoes" but realised pretty quick how untenable that is.
Didn't think of the obvious answer of splitting it into two questions.
