Funky felt kinda out of place.... personally I'd rather just have Donkey and Diddy in Mario Kart

I'll agree that Funky was very out of place in Mario Kart, and even though K. Rool would feel just as adventitious, I'm willing to accept him appearing in just about anything these days. While it may not help his chances in Smash Bros. at all, playing as K. Rool in Mario Kart would be the next best thing.

Funky was added to Mario Kart largely just because he was easy to make from DK's existing model. That, and it's fitting, given that he's likely the one who designed the Kongs' karts in the first place.

On the subject of Dedede, he's another character I'd expect to see before K. Rool gets revealed, kind of like Diddy, so he has more people to beat up (this time, a fellow king).

So i just spent the evening playing DKC2. It's the first time I've picked it up in about a year and a half or so. I played around on some of the early pirate-based levels a bit, then jumped right into the K. Rool battle (I was using my old save). I'm man enough to admit that it took me about a half a dozen tries, but I did manage to beat K. Rool without taking any hits.

One thing that I realized while I was playing is K. Rool has another ability---one we don't discuss very often. In DKC2 and in DK64, he has the ability to turn invisible at will. Not sure how that would translate to Smash, but it's something you don't normally see people talk about.

And I'd just like to toss this out there again: Blunderbuss dash attack. That is all.

Okay, the invisibility is neat.

@Xhampi: For awhile, you actually got me excited about King K. Rool showing up in Mario Kart 8. Of course I shouldn't have expected that, but whatever.

Ever fought him in the core? I don't recall him doing anything in particular that could carry over into Smash, but it would be satisfying to knock K. Rool out a few dozen times for revenge.

He can always shoot flopping fish out of his blunderbuss as a taunt.

Didn't have it unlocked on the save I had; but I seem to remember that fight. Didn't he just stand still and launch stuff for a few solid minutes?

I always figured his final smash or something of the like would involve a fake credits roll that actually does damage, if that's up for any discussion. Either way, it's nice to see the huge K.Rool rally because the original villain of DKC is certainly deprived of his former splendor, and an appearance in Smash would remove that problem entirely, I'd say.

I remember someone saying something like that, but then I thought of my own little twist. He would play dead and anyone that's facing him when he does is forced to taunt and then he would get up and b-line into everyone taunting.

That was my hypothetical Final Smash from months ago in this thread, and I still absolutely adore it, especially in comparison to just him dropping cannonballs. Yeah, he does that in his boss fight too, but the Kredits are iconic to the point where they're mentioned in his Brawl trophy description.

I could of sworn I was the one that mentioned the idea of Kredits first. My version was K. Rool would play possum, and then the screen shifted to the right. Then a bunch of parody names of the development staff scroll upwards, while off screen everyone is getting the **** kicked out of them. Then when the words "The End?" shows up, a large explosion happens KOing everyone.

Yeah, that was yours. Mine was that the characters start taunting uncontrollably while the Kredits scroll upward as giant platforms that lift them off the screentop to their deaths.

My ideal Final Smash? It works differently depending on the situation.

If the King is in first place, the attack does absolutely nothing.

If the King is not in first place, two Kremlings come running onto the stage carrying a huge bell. They ring it and scream "Saved by the bell!" The match immediately cuts to the no contest screen. Draw!

I can only imagine what implications this would have on the metagame. Trololololol.

Yeah K Rool's Kredits sequence was one of the most memorable bits of Donkey Kong Country. It stunned me on my first playthrough when I was younger and, believe it or not, I lost. Dirty tricks always prevail!

Would anyone besides me prefer to see the Blast-O-Matic as his final smash?
I'm curious to see how it would work. Would it come in from the foreground or the background? Perhaps a in cutscene?

If K. Rool doesn't have a play dead taunt, he should at least have it as his crouch. His teabagging would single-handedly make him a top tier character. ;)

K Rool should pass out while every opponent does their victory clap, as fake credits roll K Rool Wakes up and smashes the crap out of everyone.

Wow what a coincidence - I haven't seen your post but the one I came up with in my vid is almost exactly like yours. Actually there's a lot that can be done with the credits. Here are some examples:

Instead of carrying players up to star/screen KO them, the names could bash into players, then break apart into individual letters and fall to the ground, which K. Rool could use to pick up and throw as projectiles after he's done playing dead.

Alternatively, K. Rool could choose to stop playing dead, which stops players from taunting uncontrollably, but in return, he'd be able to grab nearby staff names to use at his disposal, things like:
- throwing it as a large projectile (by pressing Z)
-Kredits Shield! (by holding B)

-and of course, who wouldn't like to see K. Rool whack his opponents with text?

Actually, why not combine everything? Blast-o-matic destroys stage, rising Kredits provide the only source of footing for players (they can still get screen/star KO'd), cannonballs and Kremlings (with the help of Dumb Drum) rain from the sky, and the Flying Krock zips by the screen bashing opponents? This is completely feasible and reasonable! :awesome:

Was looking at sprites doing more height stuff because I am hopeless, and I noticed K. Rool is really Kreepy.

That Smoke from DKC2 looks more like Skulls...

Sorry but K. Rool is too mature for Smash's lighthearted atmosphere.

This is too mature for Smash? I think not!

You know, the funny thing about the Kredits is that K. Rool acting like he's defeated really isn't any more unique than seeing all the other Smash Bros. fighters play dead. The only major difference is the phony credits that's seen before K. Rool's final onslaught.

I think K. Rool would be a good choice, and is a possibility off of his popularity.

However, Dixie Kong is just as viable (and she may just be a bit more relevant to the series at this point).
