Agreed with G Reg, when you can perfect shield everything that comes your way then you can joke about Brawls tech skill. The problem I think is that tech skill has the connotation of moves like waveshine, which isn't always the case.

no, im not. in fact, i just dominated a tournament in your area, i dont think you were there

im not saying brawl is more technical than melee or anything, but brawl tech is required to win matches, especially when it comes to shielding, rolling, utilization of move-buffering, dodging , air dodging, and auto-canceling. there was only like 2-3 people in your area who somewhat did all these things effectively, and even then, most of them lost matches simply due to killing themselves, another product of bad tech. people joke about brawls tech skill, but i dont see those people winning any tournaments or doing anything impressive.
2 points:
--The people in my area are a thriving group, but I dont play much with them. The people with who I DO play include a guy who recently won 2 of the tournaments that included the same crowd u describe. All of this to say, I acknowledge and agree with the fact that the people in SoVa simply arent THAT good.
--To say that ANY fighting game doesnt require ANY tech skill is wrong, but at this point, the people who antagonize Brawl's lack of tech skill are IMO justified in saying that it plainly has none (If Lim f(Brawl Teck Skill) as BTS --> 0 is 0, then BTS might as well be considered 0; just go with me on this). Moreover, the people who ur saying were at least moderately good were probably the people around who just play for the money (i was able to get a consensus on this). All it takes to win money is to be slightly better than everyone else. Thus, there is no motivation to be exceptionally good in Brawl (if such a thing is possible). With respect to this thread, a jab --> d-air...i mean really...how hard could this be? It, for me, is good support for how this game requires minimal tech skill. Please dont use the people "in my area" to assume anything about the competition I personally play. However, I do agree with them that Brawl is not worth the time to try to be exceedingly good.

I dont think anyone said Jab to DAIR is extremely technical.
Obviously it has its own unique timing, but its nothing special.
