Is version difference ever enforced at tournaments?

I've been to only two tournaments so far, but in both, nobody seemed to care whether each game was v1.00 or v1.02. If the version is not enforced, then am I allowed to use a trick that only works in v1.00?

Axe and myself, have actually been exploiting multiple possibilities on this, but we don't exactly know how to address everyone about it...

such as Young Link's extended recovery in older versions, Samus/Peach Missile/Turnip priorities. Link/Boomerang glitches... are basic examples, but you know what I mean. :)

SO yeah please, I think something like this should be thought of, it'd help us low tier players some too.. :p

I've been thinking about this too. The most common version found at a tournament is 1.02.

I was thinking of implementing a rule like..."If a player wishes to play on a version that is different from their assigned setup, it may be switched as long as both players agree. If both players do not agree, they will play whatever version that is on the setup that TO assigned them to", or 1.02. Or something like that.

If anything, the mechanics in 1.00 only help to boost low tiers a little bit. I just wish there weren't such version inconsistencies because I want to be able to take advantage of 1.00. Maybe I should just stock up on a dozen and monopolize the setups >:D

People would have to attach sticky notes that assign what version is on each set up. If they don't, they will have to turn the system off and look at the underside of the disk, which will slow the tournament down.

In one or some version(s) of the game, if a missile hits a turnip, it passes through it, whereas in the others, the turnip stops the missile.
Pretty much what fly said, in (I think it's 1.0) missile, goes through the turnip, while in the newer versions (1.1-1.2) Missile+Turnip collide/trade..

I don't recall which version, does which, etc.. (it's been a while) so ^ I may have versions reversed etc.. but yeah, pretty much this..

and i'd agree I like the older versions, cuz it helps us lower tier players..

Haha yeah that's the only thing that keeps everything from being compact. I might seperate it in the next version.

1.0 should be the standard for balance reasons.

Bowser needs flame cancel.

Zelda needs smashes (and jab I guess) that can't be SDI'd.

Missiles need to beat turnips.

Rapid jab infinites (we're using that word loosely) help balance Pokemon Stadium.

What about Fox's drill? I imagine 1.02 also makes that easier to SDI, and I don't like the idea of being wrecked by the drill, although I am an advocate of fun 1.00 tricks.

yo 1.0 for life. If you can't flame cancel, boomerange jump, extended boomerang recovery, or have fox auto-tech falcos dthrow then I just ... no.. no no no no no no.

Yea I think if someone wants to use 1.0 it should be allowed if they bring their own disc.

I especially agree with what KK said in regards in the low tiers. Bowser needs the flame cancel and Zelda needs the jab and smashes... there already pretty bad characters... why nerf them?

Falco's dthrow and Ganon's nair were changed? I didn't think there were any differences that actually affected common tourney characters... What exactly is this Fox auto-tech, and why have I never noticed it?
