im a little insulted...

im not one of those brawl pessimists, i cant wait for it and love everything about it.

but as a link player, who has a friend who abuses every inch of marth... i am insulted that characters like fox, sheik, ganondorf, and others have actually seen the nerf stick yet marth has only seemed to improved.

i know i havent played the game yet but im dazzled at what sakurai was thinking, in ALL the matches ive watched i have only seen marth lose once and it was because he suicided.

my expectations remain great but.... why... why is marth still the overpowered god he was in melee?

WHY

Because you're an idiot, or you wouldn't say he's overpowered before playing the **** game.

Conclusion: QQ more noob.

Because it's the player and not the character, I'm preety sure Marth is worse in a way, or every char is better in a way we are over-looking

Exactly, I find it REALLY hard to believe that the characters who were more powerful on Melee will be OP on Brawl, the developers obviously know that and will try to balance them, even if they're still powerful they won't be as much as before, that's my prediction of course, I can't know for sure, but BAWWWing over it doesn't do anything, the game is complete and it won't change.

IDK WR3K, some things about marth seem to have been hit with a nerf bat... I'm just glad that my main, jigglypuff, seems to be mainly improved... but since sakurai has, thus far, nerfed all the top and high teirs and buffed all returning low and bottom teirs, I have faith that marth isn't still as great... I forsee his dthrow into fsmash not happening as easily... and if he can't spam attacks or L-cancel his precious areials, I don't see him being as good by virtue of that alone

Stop complaining, Link is Stronger and Faster, his only real Diffrence other than that is his boomerang..

Im happy that Marth didnt get too many nerfs, as for all the other characters out there that got nerfed, there are new characters out there! Go try Wolf, or Lucario (Most broken recovery sence Flying)

Lucario seems faster than Mewtwo and also the altered gameplay can nerf or buff characters depending on their gameplay, so every single QQ thread is just stupid, except if it comes from Japanese people (or people that imported the game) and that have a good while of experience with the game, not just 2 days.

PS: Tier threads are worse by the way, pathetic and moronic, at least the OP here didn't fall at this trap.

Listen to that guy, he knows what he's talking about. This isn't Melee, this is Brawl, and guess who was on top when Melee came out? That's right, Roy, and Marth was considered to be crapstatic. Duh.

In Melee, Marth is very good due to edgeguarding and (primarily shffl'd) combos. In Brawl, it looks like edgeguarding will be much harder (and I think that Marth's lovely bair might have been nerfed a bit), and I doubt that we will see long Isai-style combos with increased DI and reduced hitstun. Plus, shffling is half-dead: no more L-canceling, although it looks like ground lag has been reduced, and short hopping now goes higher than before.

I'm glad that Sakurai's team didn't over-react and nerf Marth. I'm pretty sure that the new physics engine nerfed him enough by itself.

Marth is incredibly broken in melee, but im sure Sakurai has balanced him out some how... if not good luck with recovering.

Answer your question... be Marth, vs a lvl 9 Link, with your handicap at 4 and the com at 7. Then come back and tell me Marth is too powerful.

Also, I would like to give you my deepest sympathies. Finding out the the triforce slash is Toon Link's final smash is quite crushing. It completely takes the magic out of normal Link's triforce slash and I am truly sorry for what has happened concerning that matter.

atleast they are both link... lol, now it WOULD be crazy if a non loz character all of the sudden did the triforce slash, that would be horrible.

at the same time, link does look like he can counter marth's game pretty well with the new physics and projectile strategies, i just hope marth stays "good" and maybe the game is more balanced by itself.

however i still worry deeply for characters like ganondorf who may still suffer in competitive matches especially against marth

Would you like to know what I'm insulted by?
Your awful capitalization errors and lack of punctuation in your use of contractions.
Just saying.

It's easier to combo with Marth in Brawl I think. His moves feel faster and you have more control of him in the air. His range has decreased a lot though. I dunno, I think we just need to give it time and we'll find a way around Marth. Aside from that I think we won't really have to worry about a tier list too much...a lot of characters seem pretty even. That is, certain characters like Bowser and Kirby have been buffed while Sheik is nerfed majorly. Just give it time.

Clearly he has a thing for effeminate, blue-haired heros who wear hair bands. D:
Hahaha... As a Marth player though, I must say that from the look of videos, he does look improved, and he really didn't NEED much improvement. =/

either marth didn't change at all, and all characters got nerfed pretty badly, or all the characters are the same and marth is overpowered.

Or Marth IS an overpowered powerhouse, AND all the characters got nerfed pretty badly. Heh Heh

then why discuss characters "goodness"?
Read:
when players play for a long time, and are each at an equal level, some characters have more potential to outplay others, even if its cheap
Some characters are just plain better than others. Obviously that doesn't mean someone who's never played the game before can pick up a high-tier and never be defeated—you do have to learn the character. But there are characters that, by design, have advantages over all the others, making it easier to win with them when facing an opponent of equal skill to yourself.

Marth lost his uber sword size... he lost power in the tip, he can no longer juggle from his Fair (at least not like in melee), he lost his broken grab range and his ForwardB no longer makes him "float" to recover...

I think thats enuff... the whole broken aspects of him were fixed.

Also no more wavedash = no more crazy tippers out of nowehere.

Darn, I love juggling people around Hyrule with my Fairs and Uairs.. and Nairs.. eventualy ending with a Dair...

Crazy tippers out of nowhere will always (to some degree) exist as long as the C-stick is around.

Actually, Hydde, I've seen Brawl videos where Marth kills at the same percentages as he did in Melee with his tip. His shorten range does help balance him out, though. Well, I for one am glad that Marth is still a beast and I'm going to main him just like I did in Melee along with Mario, Ike, Pit, and Sonic.

I'm disappointed Link has seen the Nerf card, when he didn't really deserve it, he was the most balanced player in the game!

marth is far more nerfed than some might think.

the damage to his across B recovery is absolutely immense for a person who mains marth

his combos were his biggest strength, and they seem to be mighty damaged

Stop going into threads and giving people the idea that Marth isn't good.

He still is. He got a buff in terms of attack speed and he still can combo. Also even though he lost range, all of his attacks got better to compensate. Some are faster, others are stronger, and some are both.

His u-smash for example is ridiculous now. Stop saying Marth can't combo now. He can still combo, just not insane MvC2 type combos. But that's a system change not a personal nerf. Marth is one of the few characters that can still rack up damage effectively in Brawl.

D-tilt combos into itself and dancing blade got waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better and is now his main combo tool.

And he can still gimp recoveries. Also his neutral b is now useful for recovering and has great range. It breaks shields quite easily.

People it's not up for debate ok. Marth is still a monster.
