Sarah: It was estimated that he had been gone for more than eight hours when I asked. It would not do any good. Even the police are baffled.

... Sarah takes the Ashleys to the police department and informs them that Baby Ashley has an idea. They are skeptical, but a few who remember her assistance in searching for Ashley attest that she could help. Before long, they come across a clearing in the forest, and baby Ashley insists that they are in the right place.

Sheriff: There's no cave for miles around... (Spits on the ground as he checks maps and charts)... Pudgy cheeks has led us on a wild goose chase!

Sarah: Ashley, I think you made a mistake... (The area is rapidly engulfed by a mist that looks ordinary.)

Sheriff: This was a waste of time. There are far more probable areas he could be.

As he readies to reorganize the search, a cave opening becomes visible through the mist, but only to the Ashleys...

Baby Ashley tugs on Ashley's hand and points to it. While the group is distracting, they both enter the cave. "Gunther?" Ashley calls.

Sarah is puzzled by the sudden disappearance of the Ashleys.

Sarah: (Scrambling) Pardon me. have you seen my daugthers? They were just here (response of a headshake...) ...Excuse me. Did you see Ashley?... Ashley?... Ashley, where are you? Ashley!... The police stir from her calling, and look around, some equally baffled by the abrupt vanishing since they saw her too...

There is no response, but growling can be heard from away, echoing through the cave.
