Oh, and @ metroid1117 I played with mudkyp (Charles) for like 12 hours just last week and he thinks I've gotten a lot better. I'm coming for your spot as best Ike in Illinois.

Charles is a cool guy. He gave me a ride to get Taco Bell at SMYM.

As for best Ike main around Chicago (without Metroid up here obviously lol), we're gonna have to play for the title eventually.

Dude, I've seen you play on stream plenty of times and your Ike is legit. I want you to know I just talk a lot of game and you'll probably body me. (I did go pretty even with Charles, but I know he doesn't play PM very much) As for the lack of Ikes at EXP, I'll be showing up there so you'll have me, and I'm very dedicated to Ike. Probably not this week, but next I'll be there and hopefully pretty regularly after that. I used to go every now and then like November/December last year, but I haven't been for a long time. I'll keep my eyes out for you.

Charles is definitely better in Melee, I agree with you there - he does have the potential to go far in both games though.

Awesome to see more dedicated Ike representation around here. Looking forward to getting some matches in man.

There's a lot of ike secondarying around here and it works pretty well
I do it as a wolf main, a pit (melee falco) does it, and a pika dabbles in him
We're not overly committed to him but that raw basics game is solid and fun
Of course we have this guy naus who shows up and he's probs better than us
But we're all slowly playing him more and more because he's working well too

The better I get with Ike, the more I realize MK is more of a crutch then a sub.

Still need something for Link/Zard, but I think I'm gonna solo main Ike now.

In 3.5 Ike will be buffed to the point where all of his attacks turn the entire screen into a hit box. On top of this they will all instantly kill any opponent, and break through any shield, counter, or dodge. To balance this PMDT will allow only Ike mains who have mained him prior to 3.5 to play as Ike. All others who were not Ike mains, who are identified by their genetic signature(weak and unfit for the glory of Ike), will have their Wii's instantly implode upon selecting Ike because they will never be ready to wield such power.

Rumor is that Ike is essentially the same. May or may not still have wall jumps however.

But then you look at a lot of character's and their nerfs...it's good to play Ike.

I teach high school science at a town southeast of St. Louis, but I stay back in Chicago during the summer; I probably won't be at another EXP tournament until their monthly in December.

I know this may sound silly, but does anybody think that Ike should only attack out of quick draw with the b button, rather than holding the A button? I was thinking this because I know a lot of people that think PM is too easy.
Ike is a lot of fun to use BTW.

I don't really use it anymore, but it's not really bad to make the game more appealing to newcomers.
We want the ceiling to raise, not the floor.

Agreed. It doesn't matter how easy a game is at it's base level as long as it has massive room for growth above that basic level like PM does. All it does is offer a better environment for the game and community to grow. At a basic level, Ike can look extremely powerful; even overpowered to people with no experience. But when you get into higher levels, Ike is an exciting character that requires an intimate knowledge of his moveset, spacing and mind games.

This is why I like Ike. we like Ike we like Ike

I don't personally ever use the hold A QD attack option. That's because when I'm going to QD attack, I know I'm going to do it, and I know when I want to press the B button to make it happen. But it's always possible something could change from the time you start QD to the time your hitboxes can reach the opponent, and I sure as heck don't want to get stuck with my thumb glued to A.

OK, having some peak issues. I haven't been able to make steady improvement since this. Outside of the deep thing (working on it) I'm not entirely sure what to do to improve. Anyone able to help?

Anyone else here go to Big House? I only saw one other person play Ike during the tournament, and that's because he was in my friend's pool.

I went even in pools. Would've gotten out if they hadn't changed it to top 2 last minute, but I had no control over that. Lost to VS Seibrik and this DK player who thought Ike was fun, but too hard to play well. Got 2-0'd by Seibrik but brought it to last stock each time. Should've beaten the DK - went down to last hit.

Oh yeah DJ. Of course he did well - I never actually saw him play.

There were only 5 of us in the pool, so beating two others is decent I suppose.

I like Hector Ike. I look at it as a better version of Ike's design in Smash 4. I don't really like it that much, but it'll probably grow on me in the future.

I can't get over Ike's hero design in smash 4 and how great its recolors are. It hurts since smash 4 sucks so much.
