Probably cats as they would at least bring some amusement and I see them often enough that the power would be in use. However, I feel that the problem with the hypothetical situation is that the animals are most likely of too little intelligence to have cohesive discussions with. Maybe animals that are renowned for being smart would offer some extra ability in the area but I see dolphins so rarely that I would never get the chance to test it. Most likely if you could talk to a dog it would repeat the same thing over and over or something similar.

By the way if you want to talk to animals you should try to teach a gray parrot english as they are able to learn it to some extent. Interestingly enough.
