Before anyone says anything, I know the thread title is pretty stupid. Just hear me out.

Identity. It's always been a problem on With Anyone. What if we could change that?

People on SmashBoards have posted about multiple matches with anonymous players on Wi-Fi. They often express disappointment that they'll never play with that person again.

What if we had a signal to let people know that we post here?

My idea is that at the beginning of each match, we do a set action that lets someone ID us as Smash World Forum-goers. This way, there's a remote possibility that you may be able to find the person and play them again.

Up-taunt > crouch > up-taunt.

Of course, this idea would require a thread dedicated to helping people find one another, but this would definitely help in the persistent issue of anonymity on Wi-Fi.

Closer to you than you realize
A regularly colored Lucario
CONSISTANTLY play as Lucario no matter what
the ability to B-Stick (though I don't use the ability as much anymore)
Consistantly voting for Spear Pillar as the stage for the match
When on Spear Pillar, instantly head for the cave below and camp
On more complex stages (i.e. New Pork City), usually camp far away from the fight
Charge an Aura Sphere in the time spent camping
Often crouch and stand rapidly and repeatedly if camping for a while
Hyrule jump at least once every match on Temple (often for no reason)
Often spring cancel with my Dair or Double team when a spring appears
Often rely on Dair to try to decrease attack knockback

I posted that in my "Meet and Greet" thread (which no one responded to :()

I wonder what my sign can be....

Or maybe that's enough?

Stuff like this has been suggested before. While it is an okay idea, not very many people from smashboards go to the online board, and even less play "With Anyone" frequently.

I use Black Captain Falcon and default-colored Ganondorf, and I alternate between the two between matches (I play one match using Captain Falcon, then one with Ganondorf, then one with Captain Falcon, then one with Ganondorf).
Usually spam the following moves: Captain Falcon's Neutral B, Captain Falcon's Side B, Ganondorf's Neutral B, Ganondorf's Down B and Ganondorf's UpTilt.
I taunt quite often, but the only taunts I use are "Show me ya moves" with Captain Falcon and the spinning laugh taunt with Ganondorf.

Green Ike, uses dthrow to upB sometimes.
I haven't seen another green Ike do that, and so I guess it's just my own combination.
I have a distinct playstyle of approaching with fair and nair, never dair.
I almost always jump out and try to gimp you with dair.
I tend to ledgedrop and upB.
When sent flying, if anyone is near me, I do an aerial for the kill.
Also....
I crouch taunt a lot.
I fsmash someone right after I respawn.
I smash often, but I don't dsmash often.

I also play a light blue Marth.
I fair to many things.
If you get me in sudden death, I double fair, and then....well, can't tell you my strategy from then on.
I always try to gimp with dair, and I fair you to keep you offstage.
And, if you suck (sorry if this has happened to you), I SH fair fair SH fair fair, repeat until you're past the edge, then I Double Jump dair for the KO.
It's an attack chain that people rarely break, basically because they don't know how.....

And I play a red Falco.
I only need to use him in one-on-one, because online, people screw up all of my techniques.
You'll usually see me in team battle, but I go to basic brawl then and now.

What I was suggesting is that we all use one universal sign for every character that lets people know.

Up-taunt > crouch > up-taunt.

What if we did more with this code to make it more specific and complex? Like utaunt, crouch, utaunt, dtaunt for a specific board goer, member, or somethning?
I was considering that.

Maybe up-taunt > crouch > up-taunt can be the universal "I go to SmashBoards."

If you want your own sort of signal, I'd base it off that.

"I go to SmashBoards."
Up-taunt > crouch > up-taunt.

"My name is *yourname*."
Down-taunt > *move of your choice*.

This could get a bit confusing, however. There are only 32 moves and 4 grabs. That means that some would have to double up on moves to differentiate themselves.

I'd just use the universal ID.

I spin around in circles.
No seriously, I make my character turn around repeatedly.
You'll know it's me, 'cause no one else taunts like that.

Dash Dancing rapidly might be to post in the thread dedicated to finding players you played with.

@Sad Panda323

Doing this would most likely make more smash boards members play on with anyone.

I play red snake and mortar slide constantly

I fooled around last time I was on With Anyone as a regular King Dedede, side B spamming, and Kirby crouch and taunt spamming.

I will VERY RARELY DO THAT, though. Read my signs on the previous page.

I always enjoy a good taunt battle. I play as a White/Pink Peach, and I sometimes switch to the Ice Climbers (White, Nana leading).

I'm a bit confused with the With Anyone community...is it large or is it small? One time, I exited out of a match and quickly went to find another one, but when I finally found one, I ended up in the room with the same people I was playing earlier. They were playing as their same characters, same costumes, everything. It only happened once though, so maybe that the room I was just in was the only one open at the time?

Oh well, here are my signs if I ever decide to use them :

Up Taunt (Parasol)
Up Smash
Up Tilt

Many people here over-exaturate its size.

But in that case, it seems that either you were the only non-full match, or Basic Brawl was near empty, and Team Battles were more popular.

I wish I had that luck with these lucarios I keep meeting.

Especially this recurring black and white one

Going to Gamelon. I'm taking the Triforce of Spag
Here we go, though nobody would want to play with me, as I'm probably the worst player on all Smashboards:

Purple/Blue Zelda
Purple R.O.B.
Blue Wolf
Black Pit
Blue Pikachu
Purple Toon Link

Random howling if playing as Wolf
Rarely change to Sheik
Usually the one sucking the most
If lag gets terrible, I just abandon the game until I get DCed

Oh cool, I've always wanted to try this while playing With Anyone online. I will try the universal ID today. I usually start off in this order:

Red Lucas
Red Zelda (I don't use Sheik)
Red Peach
Green Snake

I pick FD, Bridge of Eldin and Shadow Moses.

This won't work. Before the game was out people were talking about double crouching when the match starts but no one ended up doing it.

Not really the place for a first post but oh well.

Character: Diddy Kong (Green)
Stages: Battlefield, Final Destination and Smashville.

I camp and spam the down taunt, when I'm hit, I use the side taunt and then I start fighting with the person that hit me.

Keeping board records with Red Koopa.
Characters:
-Blue Marth (not normal blue, the light one)

-RedWhite IC
--Uses side b and down b the most.
---Uses side taunt mostly.

(NOTES: I rarely grab.
Killing spammers is my priority.
I act as a bodyguard for Smashers who are not there at the moment.)

I choose Pictochat often.

I'm often times playing teams.

If you think you ran into me, send video or describe the match.

Creating your own language or identification purposes prove pretty useless when someone happens to do so online without realizing it. That and when you consider how few people on With Anyone visit this specific board.

...In short, please just use the Friend Finder to get friend codes...
