Hey, Solreth/Blue Here, I've been maining mac since the release of the 3ds. I work hard in the competitive community. I Thought I'd bring a recent piece of my lab tech out for you guys, in my opinion mac has to be evolve for offstage gimps or will remain trash tier. This is of course very time and character sensitive.

First, Classic forward air gimps weaker recoveries like ganons. Second: Running fastfall down-air kills vertical recovery from characters like robin and shulk. (It goes without saying this gameplay is not without its risks, prepare to tech potential stage spikes). Third: On regrabs, or intercepting a returning fox, dashing off stage and side-b'ing as a return will stage spike them to death. Fourth" There's the old school neutral A to dead combo, and as a matter of fact you can fifth: forward air to footstool at low percentages. The most prized gimp however is sixth: Back air is of course a natural option, but I prefer to use it tandem with footstools for greater effect:

Never forget your lag-cancelled forward airs will strip opponents from the sky for free smash combos. Mac must find air game to stay relevant, even if its merely incredibly opportunistic.

I hadn't actually fought a Sheik before in bracket, so this was interesting. Never knew she had a windbox on her up B on landing. I'd attribute a lot of the screwups here to lack of experience.

How do I matchup, guys? I've talked to others, and utilt seems to be a viable option against Kirby. I think I just got too impatient, and that ended up putting me in trouble. The 62% death didn't really help my mentality, but I barely pulled it back.

Man, that flame choke takes time to remember how to tech it. I made a lot of silly mistakes here. Don't remember what I was doing when that last hit happened. Also, haymaker is a bad trade move, but both times I used it, I thought I'd win out. More smashes and shielding required. This was the first round I'd lost in three weeks, and I made it up the next round.

I straight up told him either he could pick first or we could do double blinds. I was hesitant to go back to Mac if he was going to pick Dorf. He said he'd stick it out with Robin, and I feel that wasn't the best call. This match went really well. I even armored through a levin fair that surely could've meant an easy game.

So there you have it, all the games I haven't had a chance to upload. If you can, give one or two a shot. I promise that there's at least one successful KO punch somewhere in these videos!

I used Mac all day! I really love him as a game one choice usually, but I used Rosalina/Peach/Palutena as well in some other matches. Pivot walking with him feels so powerful, not sure why.

i agree, no one has really been exploring mac's air game. its not non-existent, its just hiding under a rock. a rock the size of jupiter.

there is no such thing nair to dead though. sadly, nair cannot connect with anything. your opponent is probably just trying mash jump only

you can actually combo the fair multiple times. wall of pain style. dtilt > full hop fair > fair > double jump fair > fair or fastfall jolt haymaker. (amount of fairs is char dependant ofc) i posted a gif of dtilt > fair > jolthaymaker guaranteed kill.

just practice it in training mode, youll get used to the distance

He has contributed a lot of time and tech that I have never seen a Mac use as greatly as he has. He is the reason I believe Mac is very much viable. So look out for him.
