I Think We Have Our Initial Roster

First of all, I'm sorry if I unnecessarily made a new thread for this, or if this was discussed before.

But anyway, I think they may have already given us Brawl's starting roster. If you'll notice, the box art Nintendo 64's Japanese Smash Bros. game showed 8 characters. These 8 characters turned out to be the initial roster for the game.

History then repeated itself as the box art for Japan's Smash Bros. Melee included 14 characters, all of which made up the game's initial roster.

So if Brawl follows suit, i think we've been given the game's starting roster (assuming that the box art image on Japan's Dojo site is the final box art).

This means that there would initially be 11 characters in Brawl:
Mario, Kirby, Samus, Pit, Meta Knight, Picachu, Pokemon Trainer, Peach, Fox, Wario, and Link.

Im suprized I hadnt put this together myself. Lol. Its a Duh, thx for poiting it out, man. *thumbs up*

Does make sense though, doesnt it? But only 11? On the other hand it would be pretty cool to unlock so many characters. ^_^

How could I not see that. When I looked at the thread title, I was ready to see another fake roster, but this makes sense. Nice find.

I'm pretty sure the starting characters are everyone on the DOJO with the exception of Sonic, Snake and Olimar

hmm, its strange that theres no bowser
he was one of the first confirmed characters
Maybe you unlock the baddies via playing SSE. That would make sense because Dedede isn't on the cover as well. (Okay Wario and Meta Knight are there, hmm...)

People have been saying this since the cover was released...

And I honestly can't tell you how SICK I am of the starting roster speculation...

WHO IS GOING TO PLAY WITH THE STARTING ROSTER ANYWAY!?!

You're going to unlock most of the characters within the first day or two anyway... the FINAL roster is all that matters...

Well, the Snake and Sonic Coro Coro cards have a "hidden character" tag on them not found on any of the other cards which includes people like Yoshi and DK who undoubtedly will remain starters...

Haha, it would be funny (But really really stupid) if Japan gets the opposite starting roster of us.

EX: entire roster is Sonic and Mario. They get Sonic first and Mario last, than we get Mario first and Sonic last.

Opinion:

The only reason people are so concerned with the initial roster is so they can say, "Look at my prediction skills, I predicted the initial roster..."

Honestly now think for a minute... what purpose in the WORLD does knowing the starting roster have?

The ONLY thing I can think of is the effect it has on the SSE... but we know so little about that... so it's impossible to even tell anything from a starting roster...

I doubt it. It's even less than Melee had. Only 11... wow, I really can't imagine this.

The boxart theorie is okay, and if they showed us more I'd maybe believe it of say it might be true, but there are only 11... only 3 more than SSB64 had... it can't be true.

Why would there be less starters than what Melee had?
Because Sakurai wants us to unlock alot of characters. He did say on the coin launcher update, "I'm gonna have you play every inch of this game".

DK and Bowser missing IS odd, but I think this makes sense.

I made this point in another thread but it's gotta be on the 3rd page by now.

I REALLY don't think so. In Melee, none of the character from 64 were unlockable. Both DK and Yoshi are not on the cover, and I doubt they're unlockable. Either this isn't the final box art or Sakurai went crazy...>_> Anyway, good find. ^_^

No... Yoshi? No... Yoshi? NO YOSHI!?

What isn't Yoshi doing in the front cover? I just noticed that now! If Yoshi isn't an initial character, or in the cover, then something went wrong.

Nice observation though.

In a world where there is no Sakurai. Only Link...
Nice observation? That's ******** - you really think no one else came up with the same idea when the boxart was first released?

Without playing Brawl, the only way to know the starting roster is read the instruction booklet. Also... DK, Yoshi and Bowser might not be on the front because they're too big, or they wanted the box to varied, or... they could be on the back...

Have you ever considered that they might not want the entire starting roster on the cover this time around? That isn't the starting roster, and why is everyone doubting all characters on the dojo (besides Sonic and Snake) that not all be available from start? Why did everyone think Sonic and Snake would be starters? Seriously, who the **** cares?

EDIT: A lot of games have the unused alternate cover for the instruction booklet, it is possible there is an alt. cover and the entire roster could be on that. BTW, I think they decided not to put the entire roster on so as not to spoil future updates.

Do you guys expect them to put THAT many character on the back? Lucas, Ike, Diddy, Yoshi, DK, Dedede, Ice Climbers, and Zelda would not fit on the back. So, are these guys unlockable or can they fit 8 more characters along with the text and screenshots on the back?

DO ALL STARTING CHARACTER HAVE TO BE SOMEWHERE ON THE COVER?

Seriously, is it a rule or something? You can't be a starter if you're not on the cover?

Ummm, we're going by what the original poster said...No one said it's true, in fact I'm trying to DISPROVE him. -_-
I realize that, and I'm working at convincing people that not all characters have to be on the box in order to be starters.

Eh, odds are that the characters featured on the box art are in fact starters. Whether it's all the starters is left to be seen but I highly doubt Nintendo would show characters that are suppose to be "secret" on the box art.
