They wouldn't show secret, but it doesn't that's all the starters on the art. And to whoever said, they can fit the other 11 starters (maybe 12 if Sheik is in, but she and Zamus might not be on the box at all) *ahem* 10 starters on the back.

Corocoro confirmed Sonic and Snake as un-lockables...Common sense dictates that this means the remainder of the confirmed characters will consist of the starting roster.

^ Haha, that's exactly what I was saying. They're not gonna put the other 10 starters on the back. ^_^
Sorry LOL, but I do think they can fit them all on the back, or the alternate cover for the instruction booklet (I hope there is an alt. cover, I love it when the do that with movies and games). They probably won't put them all on the back, but it's possible. But I really don't think it's necessary to have the entire starting roster on the cover (front and/or back). That IS what alt. covers are for.

No, the starting roster likely consists of everyone currently on the Dojo minus Sonic and Snake. As stated by DreamFiend, there's never been any rule stating that if a character is not on the box art, they cannot be part of the starting roster.

And as an aside, I highly doubt Pikmin & Olimar would be secret seeing as how they're the main representatives for the Pikmin franchise.

YOU win, cant believe no one thought about this... especially with all the consirporacy theory things and such, this is by far the best logic of them all
*Everyone* has thought about this. After that, we thought about what worthless theory it was.

This is why the characters on the cover ARE in fact starters but definitely not all of the starters.

I thought about that, seems like it's 50/50. Either the box art is the answer, or just everybody on Dojo minus 3rd parties. We'll just have to wait and see... personally, the more unlockables, the better.

It's most likely more starting characters. PT is a starter while Dk/Bowser/Yoshi/Ice Climbers/Zelda/Ike is not? Heck, there is only going to be 4 starting newcomers? I don't think that is going to be the starting roster.

There's really no need to argue about anymore with the latest Coro Coro. Sonic and Snake have been confirmed as unlockables, but no other characters were mentioned with the unlockable tag. End discussion.

ITS A good chance because all the characters are in the first even matches or in the beggining of subspace

If a new character is updated this, or next week...I will definitely be certain they are now updating unlockable characters...

I'm already sure Olimar is unlockable

The logic is there, and I've definitely considered this myself. However, not only is 11 a small number, it's less than half of the revealed characters, and many vets are not shown. I personally feel the boxart pattern is going to end with Brawl because there will be too many starting characters to fit comfortably on a box.

It would make sense that Bowser is unlockable as he is involved with the Ancient Minister. I'd expect Wario to be unlockable too in that respect.

11 characters is pretty neat though. I'm sure you could have around 20 or more by getting halfway through Subspace.

Amazing, I can't believe this hasn't been pointed out yet. Assuming that the characters are easy to unlock this is okay.

While it's hard to say who is and isn't on the starting roster, and there's little reason for it to be such a big deal, the idea that the game will start you off with 21 roster spots(22 or 23 characters) is unlikely unless the game is really, really large.

I think after three demos with only 14 playable characters, 14 is a solid number. Assuming Sheik is back and Zelda is on the starting roster, we're at 16 characters actually on the starting roster. Plus, that screams of the title having 35 or so characters.
