I think Sakurai is holding some big suprises until the holidays.

Yea i was just thinking. What could he possibly update dec. 3rd with to subdue millions of angry/depressed fans? Because Dec. 3rd looks to be a day of mourning among the smash comuunity. Who won't be thinking, "man, today's the day i was supposed to have brawl" *Dramatic sigh into violent suicide*

It'd be interesting...I'd love for there to be a alternate costume update for Halloween (Just too perfect), but I'm...fairly sure that's not recognized in Japan...so...yeah, heh.
Still, I expect at least an acknowledgment of the former release on the 3rd, and maybe something to make up for it. If we're lucky.

I would expect that their would be a huge update on Christmas. I can see Sakurai's first comment being something like 'Merry Christmas to all who celebrate, or not'
December 3rd, I dunno. Since Brawl's not releasing that day anymore, I don't see anything special about it. I don't think Sakurai and the team will give us anything too big on that day.
New Year's, maybe. I'd give it more credibility than December 3rd, but being so close to Christmas would probably hurt chances for a huge update.
So chances of huge updates on these dates in order from top to bottom:

I think it would be awesome if we were told how many characters there were.
or how many stages, or if we got to see the outline of like 3 new characters

Christmas in Japan has absolutely nothing to do with religion. They have merely fallen in love with and embraced the rampant commercialization of it all, without giving a **** about the religious connotations we attach to it.

Don't forget that he could easily just get his updates done early and release them on a holiday.
He may even do that now, and be completely finished with updates, but is just spreading them out! /tinfoilhat

I doubt it. I don't think Sakurai really puts a schedule to his updates. That's what makes them extra epic when they surprise us.

Yea, we don't really know. I just thought that, like, by then we'd be like totally over the fact that it wasn't released that day. Nothing else special about it. I actually kinda thought that the Sonic announcement was to make up for it
Ok...but it's still not stopping an update... I'm sure it doesn't take that long to update in the first place.
Remember that that list was just in my own opinion.
Isn't that what Christmas is worldwide, nowadays? It's sad really.

Do they really have so many updates to keep announcing things until the new release date, and still have "hidden" information on the release date, or is Sakurai going to start skimping out on updates to every other day or something?

To everyone who says that he should have a major update on Dec. 3rd, he'd also need to have a major one on whenever the original Japanese release date was.

I thought about that, too. I thought more that there would be a hiatus on updates. I would think that it would last for 2 weeks, sometime before Christmas, or in mid January. There would be a double update on the Friday beforehand telling of the hiatus and maybe a sweet update to keep us along for the wait time.
Truly, I think that Nintendo could do it without giving everything away, I just really believe that here will be a break of some sort.

Oh, I assure you its far, far worse there. Hell, Christians only make up .8% of the population in Japan. (Just looked it up because I couldn't remember the specific number...)
They were doing about, 1 character a week, which was awsome
but they will probably have to slow that down, along with levels... more so.
More items will probably be announced, and assist trophy's, but nintendo will probably want to keep the game surprising.

People don't celebrate Christmas because of jesus or any christian belief anymore. They simply celebrate it for a holiday break, and gifts, or "New Year".
It feels contradictory to see an atheist celebrating Christmas, but that's how it is. They are probably going to just say " Oh I was celebrating the "New Year".

You'd definately find people who'd disagree with you there, but it does make for a interesting discussion I think. Though this probably isn't the place for such things.
Many tend to take the Japanese PoV of it and celebrate 'XMas' for its commercialization and 'spirit of the season.' At least, that's what I do (I'm atheist).

why would they make it big for only the north american release date? theyd have to do that for everywhere aswell...

Sakurai originally inteded to have some big thing happen at this "end" that he refers to. He is saving something "big" for this "end". I think Sakurai is going to have a new trailer that will have a big impact, like the E3 2006 trailers...maybe not 5 newcomers, but we could see something big like that happen towards the end of Brawl's production. And fighting.

I guess none of you have realized December 3rd will be a 3rd party character update. It all makes sense considering that it's a 3rd party character and it will be on the 3rd which was the original release date

Oh of course! It all makes sense now! Its the 3rd, for a 3rd party character, in the year 2007. 10 - 7 = 3. All 3's! Plus according to the Dead Sea Scrolls... Nostrodamus' predictions... the alignment of the planets... IT ALL FITS! How could we have been so blind!?
