I think Sakurai is holding some big suprises until the holidays.

ive always thought it would be cool if the last week of updates were all epic updates (can you imagine seeing FIVE new characters in a row?!?)

Christmas is suppose to be a time with your family and to remember Christ's birthday. As a christian, I don't find it offense that other religions or beliefs celebrate Christmas as long as it makes them happy and gives them a time of relaxation and remembrance.
I do get offended that St Patrick's day has turned into a drunken rave when it is suppose to be a celebration of a saint.

If it were up to me, the Cracker Launcher would have been given up on July 4th since they missed the Chinese New Year.
I don't know if Japan even recognizes Halloween (with all the cosplaying they do, you'd think they would) but it would be excellent to get either Costumes or something "scary" (like Ridley) on Oct 31st
Something big for Nov 21st? Thats Melee's sixth Japanese birthday...
I believe Dec 3 is Melee's 6th Birthday in America...
Like someone said, it would be awesome if Megaman was released on his Birthday, if he's in.
Some sort of present from Sakurai on the 25th of December or the 1st of January? (Both weekdays)
And of course, the climax of the updates will probably come leading up to and after the Japanese release date. I'm just not sure of Japanese holidays, and if any updates so far have made a nod to them.

Haha, it would have been supremely amusing for Dedede to have come on Christmas. I doubt any of the smashers would be more Santa-like than him.

I tought that sonic was going to be announced around dec 1, but NO! I WAS WRONG!!
then, seeing that the delay was inminent,the revelation of sonic was a logical way to balance the hords of angry fans.
otherwise, if an apple fell of a tree on this game, it would be sideways. an very horrid way to say, don't use your mind! its' useless!
that unpredictability that's what makes amazing the updates.
maybe holydays will have some anuncement. maybe, only christmas.
december 3rd? nah, unlikely, most fans already accepted the fact that is delayed, and those who haven't, wont be pleased for any update, even one as great as megaman.
actually, it seems that the vast majority of updates will be music. or download stuff, or those minor thingies. other than maybe 6 characters, (ridley, krystal , ganondorf, sheik, you know..) I don´t think that most of the people would be interested on the coding used to achieve the Zero-Lag online, the only thing being done.
and I'd bet my left arm that noone wants spoilers about the super extra cool unlockables , right?

I can't think of anything that would top this update for stage builder...Except maybe custom skins, or more alternate costumes builder, or new character.
This update was MASSIVELY amazing. I had almost 90% doubt this would not be added. But man, was I wrong.

I do get the sneaky feeling that you're on to something. I kind of figure those days will have to have epic updates.....that is if Sakurai celebrates those holidays.

btw christmas actually has nothing to do with christs birthday. It was a pegan holladay that the romans celibrated worshiping false gods. Then the emperer named constinteen changed the nation of rome to a christian nation, telling everyone that if they did not switch beliefs that they would be killed. To compromise he declaired they would still celibrate the same holliday but they would change the name to christmas and that the false god they were worshiping would be now be called St nick or santa clause. the tree decorateing and presant giveing would stay the same. Then constinteen declaired that it was also jesus birthday. But acording to the bible the animals were grazeing the field when jesus was born therefore makeing his birthday sometime in october.
Anyway lots of people add meaning to holliday therefore creating several other hollidays. Look it up its all 100% true, please excuse my horible spelling.

Christmas is not that big in Japan, they are mostly Budist and (oh what was that other religion??)

Really now, Animal Crossing has christmas as an event. Other japanese time based games use christmas. So it's not to farfetched.

I already know things that sakurai didn't know he spitted up.#1: Sonic's special combo. I know it, and its easy to preform: First, use spin dash when their HP is 50%, then jump with that Spring u use, then when they jump on it, just use a Aup move, works everytime... oh yeah by the way... I think Chirstmas will hold a new character... i think anyways...
