I finally see why Japan likes America so.

You see it mucho in their culture - American figures, resemblances and honours. I used to see it as them being naive, as I thought America was a big bad guy who stepped all over and made a big mess, but I'm over it. Japan sees America as its liberator after WWII - they aided them in rebuilding and helped to build a more democratic society, as they did in South Korea.

Too much hate is directed towards America; a lot of good things have come from their struggles, everything usually can be blamed on the country, unfortunately.

I'm British btw.

Thank you for realizing this, we've only had a brief period of an 8-yr decline into hell, thanks to corrupt business owners and Bush's mistakes, not that he's a bad politian, just bad a international affairs.

But otherwise, I love the U.S. Loud and proud.

The US does get a bad rap from people around the world, as do many countries. It's just ignorance and selfishness. Send them to America and they'll love the people there, but oh well, people just like to remain ignorant, because it's rather blissful.

Most countries hate the US because we are imperialistic and hypocritical. We demand all countries switch to democracy when we, ourselves, are not a democracy. It's pretty funny that in the last Iraqi election with Saddam Hussein, they Iraqis only had one choice less than Americans legitimately have (Saddam was the only choice, and we only have a choice between Republican parties and Democrat parties who have an actual chance).

Every time I have seen jack-***, when they do party boy in Japan, that's the kind of stuff that I see that makes other countries look down on us. Like this is all we do, screw around and other things like that. When I went on an ambassador trip to New Zealand and Australia, I definitely had some bad feelings at times on what we were doing (mainly when we were just screwing around), they thought of us like that all the time. I honestly, as an American, get embarrassed by what some other Americans do in other countries to make us get looked down on.

I also like to think our government contributes to this, because they just don't know how to stay out of others business all the time.

This is correct, because of only the 'Big Two', the political state is more of a fascism then a democratic nation.
only within the two parties do we really get a democracy. And even then, becuase of the electoral college it isn't 'True' Democracy.
But, really the U.S. isn't that bad, it just need to work on its.

1. Foreign policy(A.K.A - Wars) - Move to funding defense instead of invading countries. Mainly, because no one would even decide to invade the U.S, and it would make us look less like hypocrites.

2. Popular votes - Use them, the electorial colleges are not democratic, the popular vote is.

3. UN - We should listen to them and actually become aware that we arn't alone.

Of course there are more to improve but these are the big ones.

I love the US, just not it's 8 year leader.

America has done more good to this world than most. we helped reconstruct Europe after WWII.

we created freedom never seen before, ever, when the constitution was written up. when we created the constitution, we made it as an ever changing document that fits the country as it grows.

we have liberated people.

we control most of the world economy through the buying of consumer goods.

I love this country, sure it has flaws, but which countries doesn't.

I only hate the ideology of America being individualistic..... If every world leader disappeared... America would be the first to crumble, because we are so selfish and greedy...

I could go through and provide examples of all the times America's done the opposite of what you've said is so great, but I don't want to sound like a jerk.

Not saying America sucks, just saying it's FAR from the holy grail of countries.

Lol, because we didn't want Europe to fall to communism. Furthermore we helped them reconstruct themselves in no way did we give them everything. Western Europe united themselves becoming a social democracy in many areas.

Not only that they became our allies because of it. We didn't do it out of the niceness in our hearts.

we created freedom never seen before, ever, when the constitution was written up. when we created the constitution, we made it as an ever changing document that fits the country as it grows.
The presidents of old America are far different then the ones today, they didn't use freedom as blanket statements to go to war.

we have liberated people.
We never go into a war with the sole purpose of liberation you're naive if you think that. We usually go to war to protect our interests, if that happens to liberate a people good.

we control most of the world economy through the buying of consumer goods.
In doing so we imbalanced the gap between poor and rich countries even more so then what was already happening.

Not only that NAFTA has had negative impacts on Mexican Corn farmers.

You don't become a super power without slitting some throats. You either have to toss aside ethics and do the right thing, or became a ******* and do what ever it takes to get ahead.

Honestly, the older I get, the more silly it seems to hate America or blindly love it.

I'm very happy that my country has given me all the options and opportunities that it has, and I believe I've taken advantage of them very well. I'm glad I've been raised in a country that gives me the rights and freedoms I have, but I'm also aware that there are many other countries that could have given me an upbringing just as good.

I do love America, but more than that I just love the modern world.

Exactly. Most people blindly think America is a perfect country that has never done anything wrong.

Japan likes us?

I'm puzzled by this, seriously, I always thought it was the other way around, I mean c'mon I live in America and I would love to live in Japan due to their advance in technology, butI guess they must feel the same for us, I don't know.

The whole world is a cesspool of corruption and lies. There's no point in arguing for the greatness of any political power, because they're all scum. The real issue, is whether you affiliate the people with their governments, which you shouldn't.

I do not hate America, I do not love America.
I love life, and I love living however.
I do not hate freedom, nor do I deny we are the most free.
I am not nieve, ofcourse, and do believe just because we are the 'most free country' will i accept the label of living in freedom.

Just like I will not accept a decient job, when I can excell, and do an amazing job at something,

Our country does not want to admit that just because we are labeled the best, that the best is only relevent to how bad it is everywhere else.
We are less and less a people of vision, and more and more a bi-weekly paycheck, and afternoon television programming.

While I don't want to sound like a jerk, and as if I am attacking you in any way, there are some points that I do disagree on, and would like to state my opinions regarding them:

America has done more good to this world than most. we helped reconstruct Europe after WWII.
While yes, we did reconstruct Europe after WWII, we also vaporized cities in the same war. Not millitary bases, cities.
We are the cause of a world-wide financial crisis. Everyones economies are about to get real ugly, and it is because we are printing too much devaluized dollar bills for more and more illegally waged wars than we can afford. We are occupying Iraq just as the British did us centuries ago.
We keep selling our enemies, and other countries whom are considered problems or violent natured countries large ammounts of missiles, weapons, tanks, and offering millitary training to them.

So yes, we are doing some good.

The good we have done sticks out like a tree, in a forest, though.
we created freedom never seen before, ever, when the constitution was written up. when we created the constitution, we made it as an ever changing document that fits the country as it grows.
While we have created freedom that has never been seen before, that age has past. Homeland Security is restricting our constitution. Things such as 'freedom of speech zones' are popping up to replace public free speech. Our rights to bear arms is dwindling, as is the vision of the country. We no longer desire to be free, just wealthy and popular.
Ironically, less and less both are becoming more unlikely.
we control most of the world economy through the buying of consumer goods.
We don't control the world economy by buying all the worlds consumer goods--we are slaves to it!
What if the entire world stopped trading with America?
We would wither and die.

We are outsourcing everything, and buying from everywhere.
We are entirely a self destructive, and confused giant, and we have lost our balance.
We started a financial crisis by printing money that didnt exist, then loaning out more money that didnt exist. So to solve that, we outsource all our jobs, buy all non-american products, then print more money that doesnt exist.

America controlls the economy just like a true winner punches the jenga tower.
It doesn't, it ruins it.

Japan also forgot Pearl Harbor. They don't have any of it in their school textbooks.
There are a number of things that aren't in Japanese textbooks. I can't speak for the Japanese, but I think they need to put those things in. They may not be proud of it, understandibly, but they need to preserve this in memory to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Anyway, personally, I love the US. It has made its share of mistakes. Although I'm not one of those that are super patriotic, I wouldn't want to live in anther country if I had the choice.

Why can't we ever have a political topic without bringing in Lincoln

Lincoln was obviously a savior, if it wasn't or him blacks would be in chains and mongols would rule America

Yeah, regardless of whatever his intentions were, ultimately slavery was canceled. Sure, even then the Emancipation Proclamation was only for states that stayed in the union, but now it's spread to everywhere. It's still funny to hear how he wanted to send all the slaves back to Africa on a boat, lol.

He freed the slaves but it took another 100 years for the Blacks to get rights. If he truly freed them he would of given them rights right after the civil war.

right?
Lincoln DID NOT free the slaves. He was adamately against abolitionists and actually fought, as a lawyer, to imprison runaway slaves.

Has anyone here visited an Indian Reservation?

I really wish people would stop equating the government of a country with its people. Russians are pretty cool, but they haven't had a decent government for over 1000 years.

Well, it's a good thing most Japanese people can get over WWII. A lot of Chinese people hate Japanese people coz of WWII.

I lived there but they don't have much of a clue about America sometimes.
