Butters Stotch
Smash Ace
This could probably fall under the Arts and Creativity category, but I'll just post it in forum games. By the way, this is purely just for fun. I know something like this is impossible.
This is an idea I've had in my head for a while now. It's one inspired by some mockups and parodies online, plus CN Punch-Time Explosion, Nick All-Star Brawl, and a few threads on this site. This would be an alternate universe where, instead of being made by Nintendo and starring its characters, Smash is created by another company and features cartoon characters (or one where this and the original coexist with equal success).
Starting with the first game, since this is a third party project, it would probably get pitched to another company. Due to licensing fees and the project being more ambitious, I'll assume that it gets a larger budget, one big enough for it to be developed for the Dreamcast instead of the N64 and/or PS1.
Super Smash Bros. (Dreamcast/PC, 1999)
For the sequel, I'll assume that, again, there's more development time, especially since the original Melee was developed as a GameCube launch title, whereas this version would be multiplatform and one of the consoles it would launch on, the PS2, came out in 2000. There would be just enough extra time to polish the gameplay and add one more unique character, totalling the roster to 21.
Super Smash Bros. Melee (GameCube/PS2/Xbox/PC, 2002)
In addition to the first game's cast returning, we have...
Goku's addition here might sound strange, but remember that Melee was intended to be the final Smash game, so staying true to this, I'd have him as sort of a last hurrah for the series... until Brawl, Sm4sh, and Ultimate, all of which I'll get around to doing eventually.
If you want to take a stab at this, here are the rules:

If you want to take a stab at this, here are the rules:
- You're allowed to add an additional unique character over Luigi in 64 and the clones in Melee, as these games would likely have more time and money put into them. You can remove clones from future rosters, but you can't add unique characters in their place.
- Unless you're adding promotional picks, which is what I did with SpongeBob in the first game, characters, at the latest, must've debuted one year before each game's respective release year.
- Anime, webtoon, movie, and adaptational (as in someone who debuted through a different form of media, but appeared in a cartoon or one of the former three) characters are allowed. Characters from live-action cartoon adaptations like Melvin Doo are also viable.
- Characters from in-universe shows are only allowed if they're from a normal cartoon or one of the above (like Mermaid Man and the Crimson Chin). If the in-universe show, even if it's animated, is from, say, a sitcom, they won't be allowed.
- You can have these games be on whatever console you want and, if you really want to, have console exclusive guests added.
- Sakurai said that he would've done DLC for Brawl if he had the chance. If your version of it is for consoles compatible with it, then you can add a total four extra characters.
- BONUS: I'm using the original series name as a placeholder, but that doesn't mean you're obligated to as well. Feel free to come up with your own.
