How Will Luigi's Tier Position Affect His Metagame?

First of all, I consider this different to The Official "ZOMG Luigi's Tier Position" Thread, if you disagree, don't post here, and this thread will die sooner than if you do.

Well the title says it all:

Will Luigi's position bring in more mains for more metagame progression?

Will other people look into the Luigi matchup more -taking away the "element of surprise" that sometimes comes with maining Luigi, hurting his game?

Or maybe it will make no difference at all, and Luigi's metagame will continue trudging along.

[These are not necessarily my opinions, merely examples to help spark discussion]

Voice your opinion, or any other relevant thoughts you may have on the subject.

FIRST POST! But I honestly don't think this is going to change Luigi much at all. People don't avoid Luigi because they think he is a bad character so much as they avoid him because they don't like his personality/character design. He isn't cool enough, or hes just so cool people can't handle it. One of the two for sure. Anyway, I don't think much will change... ever....

(he alone dont tell me partners in time ) even in the brawl cd box i mean you dont see him do you ? front ? back? nope hes not there come on pit has a spot and luigi doesnt? i know hes new and all but how many kid icarus games do you actually remember PLAYING ?

I think most people don't play Luigi because of not being used to his weird traction.

Luigi's slow aerial speed is why I think he's neglected. People who underestimate him often exaggerate how slow he is.

I wish Luigi received more respect. Much like Toon Link, his popularity is what affects him. He's not "cool" enough for them.

Luigi's metagame will be affected more by mainers mastering his new and also undiscovered techniques than by what people perceive of him.

Well of course...how does a narrow perception of Luigi help his metagame? Techniques don't have to be brand new and something earth shaking, they can just be the different applications of things Luigi already has. Finding ways to use moves that are often looked over, and overcoming inabilities to do things that other characters take for granted (like his unorthodox dair spike, i mean if someone gets that 100%, that would totally rock the metagame). I'm also talking about his other spikes too, his dtaunt might be the most powerful in the game. Pushing the metagame means not leaving anything as "impossible", but rather working around it. Hell, WIGI repes with his dtaunt.

Having a low user base is never a good thing, as I have come to realize. Sure, I thought the element of surprise stuff myself, but the more people who use Luigi, the broader his metagame will get. I don't see anything about Luigi to bring in more people either, he has a steeper learning curve and people would rather use other characters and get better results faster.

well just have to make the wigi boards more atractive i say if people saw us kicking *** through tourneys we would surely draw much desired attention an atleast someone would check into luigi , i just playin know and have faith on him , remember until now there were no "spikes" in brawl only meteors , however i think luigis dtaunt is actually a spike ive never seen anyone recover from it.

I think some reasons why people don't play him is how dead these boards are.I just started playing Luigi last week and I thought I could go on this board and get a wealth of information on Luigi...........boy was I wrong. You guys are doing a respectable job, but there is just not enough of you. The video thread is as good as dead and that's what I wanted to learn from the most.

Donkey Kong's board is less active but that doesn't stop him from placing well.

Luigi was in a game known as Mario is Missing. That was his first sole starring role.

As far as Luigi's placement in the tierlist, he's much higher up than I would've expected him according to how many people actually play Luigi, but the tierlist won't be enough. It's gonna take one of the more dedicated Luigi mains to show off what Luigi can do. It might also take an undiscovered AT or two, but Luigi is too good to go unnoticed for the lifespan of Brawl... he'll be discovered...

some day.

I was really disapointed about the tier I think Luigi and Peach deserve to be high tier and sonic mid tier. I'm a Luigi and Peach mainer.

Uhhhhhh no. Who on earth would they be passing up to get in high tier?

Its kind of sad how there are like a million AT's for Sonic on the official AT sticky, but there is only one for Luigi (that lame infinite tornado thing that doesn't really do anything except look cool).

Ya and Luigi is still far ahead of Sonic on the tier list, so just imagine if Luigi players found some tricks that he could do.

Wishing Apex 2012 happened again.
If it wasn't Luigi awesome moveset and character in general he would have been in low tier along with Mario for sure. But if there just abit more ATs that make a ground-breaking change in his meta-game and more people that used him in tourneys, he would have at least been lowest of the high tier.

Most ATs are not practical in a real fight and are just gimmicky. Gimmicky ATs don't advance the metagame. I don't think Luigi needs a special AT. He's already good. It's just that no one except Boss has really tapped Luigi's potential. When you watch his videos and compare to other Luigi videos, there's a big difference.

It will advance. Anyone mid tier usually is a good character to experiment with, since they have potential to move into the big leagues.
