I'm dead taking all of the advice from this thread and use it. I'm getting lonely in my house and pretty damn tired of sitting around little and older sibilings who speak scrub talk because they're not good at the game. I don't know what I'm waiting for....I need to drag my *** to tourney. I also getting pretty tired of people doubting me. I'm afraid of defeat though it feels good to play and be destroyed by someone better than me. I got my *** handed on my first tourney, but this summer I'm going in focus mode and at least try to go to as many tourneys as possible. Once I break the nervous barrier its over.

M2K dominated with Fox, then Marth and Sheik. Not the same.
Who cares dude. Mango & Hungrybox (2 jiggs players you are referring to) are just extremely smart players. Just because they win tourneys with Jiggs doesn't mean she's broken.

Well you have to first fix your apparent mindset right here.. don't be afraid, just go out there and lose your *** off x100000 times if that's what you need. Learn as much as possible. Destroy your weaknesses! That's the only way opponents won't be able to exploit you anymore. However yes, I like that you are getting tired of all the **** going around.. how much longer can you take it? lol. First, find the problem and then practice until the problem is no longer there.

As for it's over.. well.. you've got a long way to go. =P

late reply but watevs

youre right.
i know

And you must not know much about link, you must be the typical person that follows tiers. If you try hard enough, you can master any character, except maybe bowser lol. Have you not seen aniki defeat ken? Have you not seen lord hdl, germ, and skler? Link isnt the best character, but he definately isnt a bad character. So learn your **** homie...
i mained Link for about four years... what did i learn about him? he ****ing sucks ****... yeah he's cool and all, but he isnt capable of dealing with the pressure of the higher tiers... he isnt the worst, but he's closer to being the worst than being the best.

Really? People still bring up aniki vs ken? Yes, we've all seen aniki beat ken in one friendly before getting ***** in tournament.
The very first thing that i thought about his post.

yeah ive seen em. they don't win nationals because they play a **** *** character
LOOOOOOOOOOL you made my day :)

So by "not getting *****," I'm going to assume you mean "I didn't get JV5-stocked," because placing last in a tournament doesn't exactly fit your description.
OMG this knowledge made this thread even better

Try to get as many stocks off as possible and try to not let them dominate your matches. If you can manage to not get 4 stocked if they're on the mood for some noob pwning, pat yourself in the back for a job well done. =) And also call them out if they're just sandbagging you.

I'm totally predicting half a year from now, you'll be taking good players to their last stock. But you'll still lose to the same people.

Sorry I'm unlynchable BP

:phone:
If you're unlynchable, you can still die to a Daytime Vigilante. You would probably need Bulletproof to survive this attack.

Anyway, I was going to actually contribute to this thread, but then I realized that it's just Ankoku speaking generic truth while people continue to ignore him. Awful pity.

Becoming pro requires sacrifice, dedication, wisdom and experience. If you can get all that to really high level then usually you'll be pretty damn good.. I mean look right now there's a lot of people improving to the pro level, it seems like they are coming closer.

Link is bad, you can't become one of the best players in the world with him. I'd try switching to marth or sheik, they're pretty easy to start out with and they're way better than link

it's really just a matter of confidence. i do really well against silentspectre in friendlies easily nowadays, mostly just cuz i'm confident that i'm good at the falcon matchup so i'm not scared of whatever he does. same against mango's falcon and m2k's marth, the times that i got to play them.

letting go of the fear of their name gets you FAR

and usually that's when they can show you their true skill. can't just say 'oh they beat me cuz they're pro.' no, once i told myself that i could beat them, i realized how good they really were.

the funny thing is though, the difference is not that big. it's always a great realization for a mid-high level player to be able to see that the difference between me and a top pro is not that vast

though, i have yet to play mango's spacies, or peepee/armada.

I find it funny a guy who just started playing is telling people who they can and can't win with.

Bottom line, I could care less when people say, "you cant win with blah blah, they suck". I only surf the smash boards cuz im bored at work allllll day, on a computer with internet lol. So you can continue to tell me who you think I will lose with, but it'd really be a waste of your time.

Yo, I don't know how important you think you are, but I'm going to tell you exactly what you've been just skipping in my past couple of posts to rant about how "all these haters just 'cause I play Link":

- Your character choice doesn't matter... yet.
- You won't be ****** anyone for quite a while.
- Talking big immediately before and immediately after your first tournament ever isn't helping, especially considering your performance at said tournament was "I lost and placed last."

Learn the game, practice, and stop getting ahead of yourself with talking about how you'd **** everyone with Link when you can't even take four stocks off of the king of your block.
