How to approach Peach?

I don't enjoy playing the match up properly (Not approaching.) Matches take on average, an upwards of 4~5+ minutes on Dreamland. I've come close to running out the timer on several occasions, without this even being my goal, and during friendlies, even.

I've decided that at least during friendlies, I should dedicate myself to ending matches in under three minutes. Because of this, I need advice on how to safely approach Peach. The biggest problem is this; Peach players play assuming the Falco player will approach, and time their aerials in accordance to this; Especially their Fair. It's -really- hard to react to this. I've been trying to deal with this but running shield, but I'm not sure exactly how early I need to bring the shield out. I don't think any of Falco's aerials out prioritize her fair, and it comes out in such a way that it bypasses a SHL of any height from my experience.

It's easy enough, albeit tedious to simply NOT approach, but it really takes the fun out of the match up. Fox is at least entertaining when it comes to not approaching. He has so many more options other than lasering at varying different heights, and Fox's punishment game is most definitely better. Hell, even without approaching, my matches on dreamland hardly ever went longer than 4 minutes, often ending a little over three minutes.

Still laser when approaching. Go from there.
Fair still be beats this.

Fair pretty much beats Falcos entire moveset. I only feel safe when I'm either:

A. Inside her range, rendering fair completely useless, and out-prioritizing the rest of her moveset.

B. Behind her, because I can then do anything I like to the bitch

well obviously you shouldn't use nair.
just keep SHLing and don't make it predictable. then when one hits and you are close punish.
or SHL then run up as if you are about yo attack, then WD back and try to bait a fair/dsmash/whatever

that's all i can think of lol.

I not that good at useing falco but I,m good at being hard to predict. When I play as falco I don't always Shl air attack I like to mix it up with a f-tilt it has great range and is hard to punish when spaced(I can't think of a way off the top of my head how peach could punish it other than toad or turpin throw after hit she couldn't wd out of her sheild very well) . after some time they might expect a f-tilt and will try to react different. Meaning you now have a few ways to get them: DD, wd, random shls, non-random lasers, f-tilt spaced, air approach, and platforming mix all this together randomly it's hard to keep up with and counter act fast. plus you can bait them in to something or try to into their comfort zone and just mess with them.

Again i,m not good I just have ideas that could work.

Lasers, you have them so that you can make a better approach. If she's still floating above you while you're shooting lasers, it's clearly not safe at all. If Peach is timing the fair exactly as you approach, then something is wrong. If you really want to just blindly approach in friendlies, then be prepared to lose many of them. I've cleaned matches quite quickly, but I don't always approach because getting hit just slows down the game of Falco winning. Falco is all about high risk high reward with his offense.

Against a Peach, I assume she'd be floating above your lasers and at a good spaced range OR shielding/spotdodging/ccing like a Peach. If she's floating above you, try shooting lasers at her via platforms or some weird double jump lasers or try to approach with uairs or nair -> utilt. If she still hits you out of these, then bloody wait for her to commit to her float move, then punish her. Empty hops -> grab, laser -> grab, shine -> grab, mix those up with shield pressure and you'll have a very confused Peach. It's just a matchup that you don't take lightly. You'll learn the moves you need to combat Peach through experience.

You need to do one of two things.

Either

1. Predict where she will float / jump relative to your laser spacing (this has to be a split second read) and run / wavedash past her > SH bair. If done correctly, this should hit Peach from behind as she's descending with fair. KirbyKaze, or someone, posted awhile back about how this is a good thing for Sheik to do against Peach. I believe you can apply some of this to Falco, though, as well.

In order to make this work, you have to overshoot your approach pattern significantly. As a result, you will surprise Peach. She won't expect you to duck past her spacing so quickly.

Or

2. Make it look like you're going to approach. Fire your laser accordingly, but pull back at the last second with a wavedash or waveland backward. Be precise, as Peach's fair often goes farther than you expect. But in baiting her fair, you can usually just punish her with fsmash / grab / dair.

1. Sounds interesting

2. Was posted twice, so this is probably the correct method of dealing with Peach's Fair. What should I do when they catch on?

Laser them a lot. They will get desperate and fall back into their old patterns / limited ways to deal with blaster spam.
This unfortunately falls under boring/tedious/not approaching, which is counter-productive to my current goal.

Don't shield the fair. It does more harm than good usually, because of the shield stun you're left with. If you see her floating waiting for your approach, try to laser her out of the float/sh as you move towards her. Alternatively, coming from above could help. Peach has an amazing nair, but I'd bet it wouldn't beat Falco's dair coming from above. Use platforms and deep SH->double jump fakes to land them. Try not to use nair or to roll too much. Stick to low nairs if you have to use them (to avoid CCs) and well spaced bairs for the same reason. If you can laser her and pressure her enough to throw out nairs out of shield, or general FC moves - you can run under her and utilt or bair.

I understand where you're coming from. Camping works and is vital to a good Falco game, but it does get boring alot of the time. Baiting her is your best bet to force out openings for you to work with. If you can play around with platforms a bit, whether with lasers, wavelands, etc...it would probably work to your advantage. Luring her onto them and keeping her above you would make 'approaching' less difficult. She has terrible priority on her aerials coming from above, so utilts weird DD/WD stuff to grabs or fsmashes as she comes down..

Sorry for the rambling. Hope I provided some decent input. Good luck, this is one match-up I have problems with too.

If you're averse to sitting back and camping, at least make it seem like you're going to camp from time to time. You can't let Peach get used to your mixups. She just punishes too hard.

The key is to adapt to the changes in her strategy. For example, if you wavedash back every time she FC's a fair, odds are she'll start dash attacking frequently in that situation, to catch you as you slide back. Once you observe this happening, you can counter that strategy by CC'ing her dash attack to dtilt / fsmash at high percents. Or you could shield and dair out of shield. Anyway you get the point. Lol.

Go Sheik.

edit: In all seriousness, her Fair takes a year to come out. I completely believe you can find time to punish it in either cool-down or start-up.

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
bleh, just shoot her, it's peach for god's sake!

if you really have to approach (you don't) and she's just jumping above you and fairing, just approach under her with uair, but even though this works with the right spacing, it's still less optimal than keeping her on the ground with lasers so that she can't jump above you and fair in the first place. if you want to approach, it's still key to use lasers to keep her grounded and out of that area between your short hop and full jump where Peach can **** you.
