I'm just making this thread as a character analysis. I'm curious to see the mechanics of MK. I went through the stickies and only found tid bits of info on them like how much damage they do and what they do exactly. I more or less want situational info like how does MK usually start a battle or how one should start a battle as MK. On stage and off stage choices: what moves should be used. I want to better understand MK though your eyes, instead of calling up for a match up discussion which only tells me who will win and why this move powns this character. So if you guys can randomly list situation for onstage, off stage, in the air, etc, I would be greatful.

=D

MK's metagame has been explored very thoroughly, so it wouldn't really be possible to convey it in a thread. Just watch as many vids as you can of the good MK's. Start with the video thread thats stickied.

Nah, there's variety. There's a lot of trends, though. Most MK's will be looking to approach with Fair, get you into combos out of dash grabs, and get Dair gimps, for example. Other than that, you see differences. Some MK's play defensive, trying to keep you spaced on the edge of their sword, others go for an all out blitz that leaves you helpless.

Check out M2K, and DSF for sure. If you wanna see the contrast between offensive and defensive MK's, look at Infinity and D4ba. Infinity plays a more defensive style, while D4ba is more aggressive.

You can tell if they're good if they grab you alot and do combo.
And if they rarely use Tornado, and Dsmash.

The tornado is a great move so why wouldnt a player use it, dont get the idea that the uses the tornado less and less makes you a better MK quite the contray in fact

They're both good, but should be reserved for the right circumstances. When you see an MK use them at the right times, rather than spamming them, you know they're good. If you see an MK spot dodge then Dsmash twice a lot, he's probably bad.
