Recover with firefox above the stage

sweetspot with double jumps and forward B's

Kill fox 4 times before he can shine spike you.

don't recover, EVER

just die when you're off stage and then come back and death combo the Fox.
lol. seriously when you know you can't avoid the shinespike just do this. falco's recovery is really bad. the best advice is to sweetspot, and avoid being predictable.

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
right, well, I mean, being unpredictable and sweetspotting is like good advice and stuff but if you want to completely stop being shine spiked, you need to stop trying to recover because it's giving them opportunities to shine spike you, whereas if you always just don't even double jump, they'll have a much harder time trying to shine spike you. Whenever you recover vs. Fox, you run the risk of getting shine spiked, learn to live with it and just do what you can to limit the # of times it happens.

Avoid using the firebird whenever possible. With no charge up hitbox, you are basically just target practice for the Fox. There is a chance that you may get a Fox who can shinespike you out of the phantasm. In that case, just don't get knocked off.

You can also activate your shine when you get knocked of the stage in order to switch up the timing of your recovery. By messing around with the timings you can avoid getting shine spiked this way...

If Fox is for sure going to be above you, try to get in between him and the wall. Tech the shine spike, try to get back before he can respond. You have to keep in mind it is super easy to shine spike Falco. He has no hitbox during his firebird start up animation, so you are helpless out there. Also, learn the firebird sweet spots from above the edge, and how to shorten your phantasm.

Press B after the *ping* of the phantasm. When you hit it determines how short your phantasm is. Learn the timings for the different lengths.

I have to learn how to tech the shine spike actually.

That's a must.

Thanks for reminding me. :)
