ssb64 for fun as a kid. All I remembered when starting melee was that Mario's back-throw was broken.

Some kids (GREV) said I looked like PC Chris (used to have long hiar, and suppossedly I looked like PC Chris).

They called me PC Chris for about a month and always shouted PC for president at me. SO one day, I went with them to watch them play at lunch, i played one round as link in a free for all, and got intimidated so I just only watched from then on.
They said I had to use Falco (PC Chris) so I did.

First YouTube vid I watched: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuREBIwqbu0

My first tournament was a playntrade brawl tournament, I think Connor won. Then my first real tournament was the last Aznfroce right by my house.

Everyone on SmashBoards liked me because because I looked like PC also, even Mango, he gave me a hug, because who doesn't like PC Chris??? Then I cut my hair and everyone hated me (still, for the most part, actually I don't know, all I know is Kira is cool), and Mango called the cutting of my hair not legit, but at least I got girls cause of it.

I saw HungryBox's puff and all those crazy backairs, so I tried her out once, and I kinda liked her, then I saw King and I liked her more, then I saw Mango and I KNEW I liked her. So I mained her. (Messed around with a lot of other characters after I always kept winning, and I also switched from Falco cause too many people used him between the six of us).
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you were that pc chris guy
i remember that
i think you posted better back then

edit: i guess not?

Inside the hitbox of Falco's Up-Tilt.
I posted better in the middle.
Half the things I post now are things that only make sense and are funny in my head, but I skew it trying to write it down, then realise I never should've posted it in the first place.

Yeah that was bad.
My old sig said like, 10pc's on it, and had ten different of those faces...
I wasn't that good with forums and stuff, swf was basically my first.

And my Hungrybox avatar just added to the obnixousness of my posts, he looked too matter-of-factly.

I've been playing Smash since the first day of SSB64's release, but I didn't take it seriously until I started winning at local Melee tournaments. In '04 I went to the V-Games (some of you might remember that lousy tourney). I got like 6th out of 64 people and the people who placed higher than me were like Cava, ChuDat, Azn, Chillin, and one other I think. I also met TheCape there.

After that tournament I watched a few videos on youtube and practiced like crazy. Cape and I traveled around, trying to go to any tourney we could make it to so we can learn. I came up with the idea "Why travel when you can host?", so I did for 4 years straight. I want to start doing that again actually.

And that's it! Now I'm in Cali, no longer in nowhere WV.

I wanna share my scrub story! =D

Been Smashing since it came out for the N64. I never actually owned 64 but whatever. I <3 Legend Of Zelda so when I saw Link I was like, WHAAAAAAT. So I've mained him ever since 64. Then as Melee came out and I saw Link looked sooo ****ing cool. So I tried him out and I loved him even more. I remember now that I went to a Smashfest when I was like 10 or something and I played Link and spammed the **** out of Up-B on Venom and thought I was good. I started to play 64 online and I got a control just for it. I would see people ****** and **** and I just began to love it. Me and my friend got our hands on Melee and a Cube so we just played it endlessly. I mained Link and him Marth. We were neck and neck until finally I looked on youtube for smash and I stumbled upon Aniki and Germ. I was just AMAZED at how they made Link look. So I continued to try to become a good Link just like them. So as we entered High School he started getting into Weed and **** so since I was just ****** him due to him not shedding the scrub from him he just started hating Melee. I found out there was a Teen Center down the street of my High School so I went down there. There were like 2-4 people on the Melee station and everyone else was on Brawl's nuts. I started playing Brawl and I kept Link as my main and I just didn't like him at all. I liked how his Arrows became better and all but whatever. So I came to realize that I didn't like the Brawl community as I went to some Tourneys with the best dude there. So I came back to Melee. Fast foreward to Summer of Freshmen year I was going to go to Genesis. So I was training since it was my first Melee tourney and I knew it was going to be huuuuuuuge. So my parents took me and I just got ***** and I actually won some of the friendlies I played. I got to play some Link Dittos with Germ and that was just amazing playing with my "Hero". But yeah I'm here now struggling to get to some tourneys and stuff. I guess my story isn't very spectacular. D:

lol P don't become a philosopher your theories won't stand

I somewhat agree with pockyD...except if it is a random person, I do the first line or two of it and if its entertaining I continue.

i just saw this thread, it *****.

anyways, i played 64 a ton w/ friends and was always the best of all my friends. one day some guy brought 64 to my high school and i realized hella people played it (even though melee was already out at the time).

i was liked melee, but i never had a cube so i played sparingly with friends. i went online (gamefaqs) and was eventually lead here. i used to main doc, so i just read up a TON of doc stuff, but i never actually got to practice any of it cuz i played maybe 3 times a year, even though i could still beat my friends. i used to beat most of my friends mainly due to everything i read online, i just kinda thought it in my head when i would read and just apply everything i could the next time i played.

anyways, about 2 years ago or so ( i don't really remember, its around 2 or 1 1/2 years ago) i hear that theres going to be a Melee tournament at a play n trade really close to my house. so i convince my friend max to let me practice at his place every day for a week since i still didn't have a cube/melee.

i went to the tournament, and met a buncha locals. i ended up doing REALLY well, getting 4th outta 30 something kids. SFAT was there w/ his friends, and i ended up beating a lot of his friends actually, i ended up losing to I think SFAT and one of his friends who played Marth.

i then didn't play for several months. at my community college theres a Marvel vs Capcom 2 machine. I played it like every day and I would beat EVERYONE except for a certain asian kid named JUSTIN SIA. We would just play, but never actually talked until one day (around the time of brawl's release) we started talking about smash and he told me he was good. I thought i was good at the time since i did pretty well in my first tournament so I asked him to play me.

Falcomist then ***** teh **** outta me and made me change mains lol.

I would play like once every few weeks when I would call friends from the area who played competitively (SFAT/PewpewU/Falcomist/Nario). I ended up hosting a tournament and thats where I met a lot of norcal (Jeff/Zhu/etc). Then last year valentine's day my gf at the time gave me a copy of melee and her memory card as a valentine's day present, so i started playing a lot more consistently for once.

I played like off and on ever since Brawl came out, but just recently started going back to tournaments again.

So quick summary.

Never played melee, played a lot for a week for a tourney, did really well (met SFAT and his friends), met FALCOMIST at my school, he taught me how to play, got a copy of melee from my GF, then met a buncha people through fmf and a tourney I held.
