Brawl will last a long while. Things are STILL being found out nearly every month. And with recent upsets like ADHD and ally beating m2k, it helps encourage others.
As for wifi, out of the HUNDREDS that play wifi only a HAND FULL have ever done amazing on wifi and it transfered over to offline. Its what you would call "exceptions to the rule"
