all VR means is that they placed 6th or better thew majority of their races. doesn't really mean they are good so dont let it mess with you. just learn the tracks and find a kart build that fits what u r looking for(top speed/accel....ect)

Yeah, VR means absolutely nothing other than how much time you have spent playing. People have over 20,000 VR...max is probably 99,999.

There is no best character class. Every class has potential to ****, though lighter characters are easier to use because they have more flexibility with parts imo.

Part unlocks are random...you have to get 5,000 to get all the major ones except gold ones...but those are pretty garbage anyways. Obviously, always have 10 coins, unless you have to go out of the way to get them. The payoff is worth it.

Obviously trick whenever you can. Some are obscure.

Just find a balance you like. Speed and Acceleration are always important. Handling depends on the stage itself, but anything around 3 is good enough. Weight isn't really important overall, so you can sacrifice some since you use Bowser. A few stages are considered completely off-road and slow you down a little, but you shouldn't worry about this stat too much for the most part since you shouldn't be traveling off-road on other stages unless you have mushrooms/star.

Have to learn shortcuts as well. Some are herp-derp obvious, some are more obscure. Don't forget about the glitch ones for the two Wuhus in case you meet people who spam them...

After that, it all comes down to luck. Sometimes you have bad luck, sometimes you have good. Just have to deal with it.

My favorite part of playing online is definitely trolling people by only picking the Bowser stages.

IMO if you are good you wont be getting hit as much so you would have no need for accel/off road(aka light weights). So id say that since you dont get hit much you wanna go as fast as possible and heavies grant you the highest speed.

I use bruiser kart+slick tires+paraglider and my character is WIGGLER(mid-heavy). My handling stat and off-road stat is GARBAGE(i dont plan to be hit/go off road often) but my speed is almost maxed out so i can literally out race light chars even when they have boosts/drift boosts.

Im pretty sure the fastest thing in the game is Metal Mario+gold kart+gold wheels+gold glider. The problem is your off road/handling/accel might be near ZERO so u had better plan on not getting hit/going into grass/mud.....ect.

The only time there is a CHARACTER tier list was in n64 where all chars had the same kart and in mk64 yoshi was the best. The rest of the games its mainly kart+characters that make the tier list.

in mkwii it was flamerunner+ yoshi or something that was the best.
in mkds it was drybones+egg1
in gcn im not sure.

^Pretty much this. If you max out speed and get 10 coins you'll be unstoppable. That being said, realistically you will get hit by Blue Shells/Red Shells/Lightning Bolts/dumb stuff, and it will take a bit of time to get max speed back. Just experiment and see what happens.

Don't focus too much on the sea/sky stuff, because you will be on LAND for the most part.

I know a pretty decent build for Heavies is Bruiser+Wood+Paraglider-type. Everything is good except Acceleration.

also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to time trials and use the "7" option. You will race 7 ghost(at the same time) with varying difficulty. Some of those ghost are OBSCENE and will teach you secret paths/short cuts as well as perfect drifting. All of this will help you gtet better.


if you just wanna unlock stuff FAST just go to 50cc/banana cup and grab 10 coins every race. In one hour you could do about 120-200 coins.
