Oracle[Lucas] vs. Darkgun[Lucario]
Had a long smashfest, played a lot of lucario. You'll have to skim through the matches if you want to find the lucario ones, but they are all high level matches against amazing players so they are pretty fun :p:

2.6 Videos:

1-2 Vs Mango. Took the first game, but lost the remainder.
I have so much johns though; for this tournament in general.
Below personal average performance, suicides, sick/tired, controller issues, nervousness, screen glare (which Mango would have had too, so that's fair), and PMBR dev build playtesting (Not having much time to play 2.6 bcuz of my developer/playtester duties). To Mango's credit, I think he's had almost no Lucario experience.

Still johns are johns, so it is what it is. Just makes me more determined for the next event.

Here's a few matches of my Lucario:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08PZjJEj8vM <-- This is the most recent one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRN9UyanqU0 <-- This was from WHOBO V a few weeks back

Hey guys, I've been playing Lucario for awhile but never posted here or looked up videos of other lucario or anything so I've been looking around enjoying the videos. I just had a long play session with Metroid and some other good players if anyone wants to skim through the footage for some of my lucario matches. Feel free to critique, first lucario match starts around 8 minutes IIRC and they are kind of spread out sorry.

http://www.twitch.tv/metroid1117/b/471665555

Best games probably start around 2 hours 32 mins.

2.5 Videos:

I'm surprised that a bladewise vs eggz match isn't posted here. G1 is kinda a stomp but g2 is awesome. Eggz is a naaaasty player from what I've seen and the ways he plays the neutral game helped me out a ton.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gE1tQVjmSoE

Also I think this is 2.5
Here's a match that I get my butt whooped by my bud using Lucario. Check it out.

Here's a fun lucario video. It's not a match but yall may like it.

One of the recent tournament sets, the only footage I've had recorded of my Lucario

Eggz (Lucario) vs Vish (C.Falcon)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=-I8GQoN5BTs

What I've gathered from this set is
1) Take my adderall sooner
2) Dash attack less
3) Neutral air is filthy and should be used more
4) I gotta get down and dirty on side b-s

My notes are way ****in deeper than that from what I've taken so far, but thats the gist of **** I've noticed on my own

I'd like any observations anyone has that could help me steeze more
Here is a video of me playing against Reflex's Ivysaur.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT9zyxto2b0

This was my first tournament. I didn't really know the match ups or have experience playing others, so please tell me anything you believe can help me improve my game.
So now that Gimpy has uploaded the last gameclucks, we've got another batch of Eggz to snack on.

Kaiten's Videos:

Heads up, these are friendlies so not the most serious matches. Though there is always something to be learned, even from these. Help me out... All of these are sets too by the way.

Vs Falco - This was by far the most annoying match up of my collected recordings from that week. Falco has the SHL which hindered my mobility by a good margin. It was good match up experience though.

Me vs Zeros 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaFEKC4dxXQ
Me vs Zeros 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXsBmOuDoyw
Me vs Zeros 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYZtNuI5u4k

Vs Marth -
This match up felt like a battle of close spacing and tested my patience, something i still have to work on. I am a falco main in melee so this is a new adjustment for me as far as being more patient than i already was.

Me vs KenJT 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_1i1Icz644
Me vs KenJT 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mpu8YKq2oBc

Vs Fox -
Fox felt considerably easier than falco, since i was not hindered by a laser every half a second. However, foxes ability to get in and out of harms way (lucario) proved annoying as well as you'll see in the second set.

April 2012

The introduction to Lucario - This was the month Project M was released. A lot of people were excited about it and many knew they wanted to try lucario due to the belief that he was going to be broken. A number of people thought that he was rather easy to use, this is what is now called the "Day 1" lucario phase, meaning lucario appears overpowered in way to many aspects compared to the other characters in the game. It was a new match up for a lot of melee vets and new in general for newcomers. Opponents of lucario did not know how exactly what he could do or how to avoid it, thus making it much easier to combo.

I'd recomend not even showing 2.1 lucario since he's so different now. It'll just make people depressed over what can't be done anymore.

Well, I'd like the OP to be a semi-archive post too, showing how Lucario has changed since the beginning. He might not be as easy to use but he is still viable and who knows- he may even get buffs to other things (or in the best cases, reverts) before the Demo phase is over. Like the PMBR says, everything is subject to change.

True, but the majority of the videos are 2.1 and older, so I'll add spoiler tags after we get more Lucario videos to make up the 2.5 section. Forgot to quote Reflex in that section before, my bad D:

This is pretty bad play but here's me getting owned by Axe from a month or so ago.

Hopefully I can get next weeks tournament recorded, I have some cool stuff to show.

EDIT: On that note, does anyone know what a good laptop for recording is? I want to start a local PM stream and am not sure what to look for.

Basically any with a good processor and a good graphics card. Generally good laptops go around $700 or so in general but you might be able to find some on sale for $500. Personally I'd recommend an HP, Toshiba, or Lenovo.

Honestly I think you might be more worried about the internet connection speed than the laptop if you're doing a stream. Of course, any laptop $400 or below (not including sales) may or may not be a good idea if you're wanting to stream, due to the cutting down of memory and power. If you're on a tight budget you could research the top processor models and the top graphics card models and try to see if you can find a laptop at a good price with decent models.

Your notes are right on. I have no doubt that adderall makes Lucario slightly easier to handle, heh. Also, before I make any other observations, I'd like to say that you showed a lot of good character knowledge and I was overall pretty impressed, so keep up the good work.

Side-b is especially useful in JC usmash > whatever combos. What kind of combos you can do out of usmash is extremely character and percent dependent, but you can almost always get a side-b meteor in there and it's almost always worth doing so. Also, you missed some dair l-cancels. Dair is such a good move and being able to l-cancel it consistently helps a lot. Also also, cancelling into and out of down-b is still good, especially for edge guards, eg: fair > down-b > jump > nair > up-b to edge.

Apologies for the double post, but I would like to request that the name of this thread be changed to something more humorous in light of the other character boards' video thread titles. It would be a shame to let them outdo us in this.

I propose "Hot Furry Footage: Lucario Video Thread."

Hey guys, I'm from the IdahoSmash scene and I was maining/am now second-ing lucario ever since 2.1. Here is a friendly of me: Ziggz (Lucario) vs. J$ (Marth). J$ mains Sonic but is currently Power ranked #1 in Idaho. Now, remember this is a friendly; not much (imo) tournament-grade play here. But there are a few cool tings that I thought I did well. I plan to convince Qraqrs to upload some more soon! Enjoy :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZnaKVHF0OM

For the individuals that haven't wandered into the thread over in General Discussion, Gallo produced a Character Highlight Video of Lucario. There are quite a few tricks to take note of here, even if some of them are pretty situational. Also, the segment at 2:11 shows a great demonstration of a tech chase from a Force Palm above the stage (watch for opponent's DI, as it will reveal the direction they are teching.), which was part of a discussion several months back, if I recall correctly.

Also, all helpful critiquing would be greatly appreciated! Especially if you happen to be a PMBR member... or Eggs lulz
I would put some form of critique out there, but I can't find much you did that needed any special attention. Though I must say that 1:07-1:09 was... well, I'm not sure what your plan was there, but it looked darned awesome. Personally I would have followed with a retreat to below the platform when Marth jumped.

Heres me re-acquainting myself with PM2.6+Lucario. I spend all my time play-testing and developing for PMBR, so i tend to lose sight and passion for current releases. Im working on changing that. I want to show ex-Lucario mains that he's just as rewarding and has as much depth as ever. I'll be attending Pound5.5

I also dont care for the thread title, but thats small potatoes.

I play a bit of Lucario in between Link and Mario, myself, and I enjoyed watching somebody else play him. I find myself doing dashing A's into the first two parts of his jab into u-tilt, where I see you approaching more often from the air with Lucario. Any particular reason for this? Is approaching from the air a better option in general for Lucario players? Was it just the Ike x Lucario matchup? Or just personal preference? At least, I felt like I saw you approaching from the air more often, with shorthopped attacks.

Also, how in the heck do you manage to get so accurate with Lucario's recovery? I have such a rough time trying to nab ledges with it.

I feel like I approach more on the ground than I do in the air >_>, I just approach in the air sometimes from reads or other things. I think approaching from the ground in general is better.

I'm accurate with his recovery because I try to never wall-cling unless I absolutely have to. Since I have so much practice aiming for the edge it comes easier. Just takes practice really.
