Hi!

The Zelda boards are currently discussing specific character moves such as Meta's tornado and Peach's float approaches and how Zelda can deal with such tactics reasonably well. It's Falco's turn and we want to discuss his Dthrow followups and also his lasers.

The thread can be found here: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=203266

What we'd like to ask you is:

- Is attempting to Dthrow Zelda viable, or are there better options?
- What are the general followups from a Dthrow, and how can Zelda avoid such followups?
- What are the benefits of lasers? And what followups lead from a hit laser?
- What are Zelda's scaring moves as you move in to attack?
etc etc etc etc....

feel free to discuss more if you want and we would greatly appreciate any contributions on the thread ^^ This is not a matchup discussion (we've just done that with you guys) =p

Thanks very much!

Lasers up close can lead to jabs, grabs ,ftilt, shine, and boost (up)smash.

At long distance, you could neutral b to reflect our lasers to mess up our momentum, unless we predict that and time a laser to hit you rigght after your move.

Attempting to dthrow chain zelda ends up with an aerial in the face, so we often don't do that.

However from one dthrow we could boost smash, or get our own aerial in if we avoid your aerials.

Your most scaring move is your down b..... just kidding.
Your sweetspotted bairs and fairs hurt like crazy. Your upsmash hurts ALOT if not DIed correctly.
Din fire chains quite well (note that our shine can "reflect" it).

I haven't played any zelda mains, so I don't have much to say.

I guess:
Never try to din's fire falco when both of you are on the ground. (Lasers will be quicker and will interrupt you).
Don't let falco be right above you in the air(dair spike), or right under you if he is on the ground.

Try to airdodge the lasers, reflecting them at close range hurts you more than falco.

You shouldn't worry about the down throw. You bounce too and far high to be grabbed again, and have ample time to get a fair in if we try to approach. Exceptions may include a SH rising shine, or a boost upsmash.

^Falco can SHDL immediately into a reflector, allowing him to completely outcamp zelda.

Upsmash beats out our Dair, so Zelda DOES want us directly above her.

Dthrow leads into DACUS, nair or IAP, so she does have things to worry about from the throw.

Sorry, I just wanted to point a couple of things out since I get to play Zelda's on a somewhat regular basis.

Be very careful using SDI at higher percents though. The SDI of her USmash is tricky and only easy for certain characters such as ness to get out of. Because Falco is fast-falling, he'll have a hard time.

If you don't escape and SDI upwards, she will send you further upwards, killing you sooner.

As Kata just stated Falco has a very hard time DI'ing out of Zelda's Upsmash, me and my friend were both trying it (in each direction) for a long time a while back and neither of us could get out of the Upsmash a single time. DI'ing out of her Fsmash is doable but still hard unless you are already at the tip. (and when I say hard I don't mean it's hard to do, just it's hard to react fast enough mid match to pull it off)
