Hey! Let's talk about life, but more specifically, your own. Tell us a little bit about yourself, whats up and hows it going? Any neat stories you wanna tell? Any neat hobbies you like to do? What about any weird facts about yourself? Doesn't have to be very personal either! You can tell us how you can across the boards or how you got into competitive smash! Let's here it!

I guess i'll start:

[EDIT] Okay, so I totally added more to my paragraph. ^^

Sup? My names Victor and i'm of Chinese/Vietnamese descent. I'm a 16 year old Junior in High School. I'm an honors student, but i'm actually pretty lazy. I'm actually surprised i'm pulling honors at all to be honest. I found out about Smashboards from Nintendo Power back in 2005 and started going to tourneys the following year. I spend my time speedcubing and smashing. For those who don't know what speedcubing is, it's when you solve a Rubik's cube really quickly. Go ahead and search it on youtube, it's a pretty big thing and maybe you'll be interested enough to start yourself. It's also great to acquire arthritis. For those who don't know what smashing is, I don't know what you're doing here. :p I currently do not have a girlfriend which explains why i'm spending my afternoon on a video game forum lol. Actually, it's because my dad wants me to concentrate on my school work. No johns though, so I got one anyways but I got caught months later. How? He saw us making out after school in a park nearby. I really miss making out. I enjoy organizing lockers, having staring contests and eating. I'm a really small guy, only 110 pounds or so, but i have been able to out eat everyone i've met. I also love having a high metabolism. The one thing I hate the most is picky eaters who waste food. Oh, and Brawl. I like Melee more.

Sup?

well I guess I'm second, I'm 19, just gonna go into college this fall, currently I live with 2 roomates who are total dorks but love to play Smash, well I'm always attending my girlfriend because she's just needs the attention and is spoiled!, as for my hobbies I like to collect Video Games systems, gaming cards, bike riding, lifting weights and of course coming here to Smashboards to discuss Smash, funny thing how I came across this site because I was looking at a MeleeDebug Menu Guide and at the bottom had the link to Smashboards which is how I found about it, anyways I plan to become a graphic designer, if not a possible lawyer which I plan to do in the near future

*sigh*

I guess this thread is good to get some stuff off my chest.
Life has been a rollercoaster for me, I'll start with school. School has been frustrating, I've been getting suspended more frequently, I've been failing some classes... *sigh* I just don't have that motivation for school. I guess you could call me ignorant, but I could care less about what you think.

As for my social life, I'm questioning who my real friends are, a lot of people at my school talk **** behind my back, even the people who I hang out with. It doesn't bother me so much, but I wish they would at least say what they think about me infront of me personally.

I have been having another problem that I'm afraid to tell my family, I've been born and raised in a Christian family, but I have been questioning God's existence. I don't want to say I'm agnostic, but it just feels like it.

Ehh, maybe the stress of everything is just getting to me.

I'm a a freshman in high school right now, and things are going pretty smoothly. I've got a great group of friends who smash every once in a while, but they're pretty casual.

Competitive Melee started interesting me a year or two back, so I started browsing smashboards and watching vids. Then I stopped for while. Eventually the Brawl hype got to me, and I joined a month before it was released in the US.

Oh, and something interesting happened at school today. A nice guy I know who I never thought would be in a gang fled from a fight the other day, and he was confronted by another guy in his gang who pulled out a bandana. I seriously thought he was gonna knife the kid or something. =/

My profile covers most of my personal info, so I'll throw some things out there I didn't have the space to add. :)

I collect Pokemon cards, am an undergrad senior currently attending college, and I went to Smashboards after I grew tired of TrollFaqs. Its been better, but not by a whole lot. :p

I'm a long time MGS fan and I play chess frequently. In fact, I love the game so darn much I actually joined the club in high school. Go me! Speaking of clubs, I'm also part of my Uni's anime club. I've also been known to host study groups. Great way to meet people! :chuckle:
I love to play Smash Bros. with mah friends and I LOVE to mortar slide.
R.O.B players scare me and Pikachu players ANNOY ME!

Of course I enjoy the occasional party too. My favorite drinking game is thumpers and my favorite card game is spades. ;)

Thats about it. I could be forgetting something, but people have places to go and things to do so I'll stop there.

Hm, interesting...why not?

Let's start with the basics. My real name's Eric, but my friends call me E-Dogg or Mr.Delicious. I'm Irish, Canadian, and Native American, but to most people I just look like a white boy -.-. I turned 16 on February 6th. I'm on my school rifle team, which is a great time. For sports I enjoy air soft, bowling, football, and soccer (I can't play, I just like to watch...). I started playing Piano/keyboard when I was 7 I believe and quit that in exchange for guitar when I was 11. I've been playing guitar ever since and still dabble around on the piano occasionally. When I get older I'd like to either go to UCF or do something with mechanics or electronics in the Air Force. Maybe both? As a career I'd enjoy being a writer, nutritionist, or musician. I am definitely an "artsy" person, but I'd say I'm a very driven person as well.

I never really became competitive in Melee due to travel restrictions and parental paranoia, but I'd like to get more into the scene with Brawl, what with online capabilities and me being able to drive soon. I main Lucas and Lucario and use Olimar and ROB as secondaries. Fun fact: I cannot play against Fox or Falco. I've never been able to for whatever reason, unfortunately. But I'm working on it ;)

I'm debating whether I'm an Atheist or Agnostic. I see religion as more of a story to answer the questions regarding the things around and about us than as an actual truth (I mean no offense to anyone who believes otherwise)...being brought up in a catholic family, this has been a bit difficult, be it debating to throw what I've been taught aside or to tell my family. I've told my brothers (they were fine. Or maybe they didn't care...) and my mom (she didn't like it at first but she's grown to accept it). I haven't told my dad yet--he's my best friend and I don't want anything to change with us just because I believe in something he doesn't agree with or find just.

I'm not sure what to think about women right now. Being at the age of 16 I--along with everyone else--would expect my hormones to be going wild. This isn't the case. I don't crave sex or foreplay with a woman, but I don't want anything to do with another man either. I guess I'm looking more for a wonderful, meaningful relationship with a beautiful person on the inside and out. I'm not going in it for sex. This has confused my peers and family, which has been a bit awkward at certain points. I'd love to be in a relationship with someone but I'm not sure high school is the place to find that person right now.

Some trivia about me...I can hold my breath for an extremely long time for whatever reason. Holding my breath for longer than 4 minutes is relatively easy for me these days. Most tongue twisters, save for a select few, do not affect me. I can impersonate many people with my flexible voice, which can be fun at certain times. I'm a speed reader. I'm not sure how to measure this but I do read quite fast--just take my word for it right now.

Aaand that's about it. Apologies if I wrote a bit much.

Life has been frustrating. I don't have a job, I want a job. Problem is i'm moving soon, so there isn't any point in getting one. So i've been stuck at home for a while doing nothing and feeling useless. So it's hard to get motivated to do much of anything. Right now I recently started back up on training in Maya and from there I am going to train myself in photoshop and learn web design and PHP. I'm also probably going to get my GED.

I don't really have any friends, so things are lonely right now.

I suspect my life will improve drastically once I move.

Yay!

Champion thread. I likey.

I don't much like talking about myself, so I'll keep it short and sexier than is really needed.

I'm 16, failing most of my classes than don't revolve around drama or drawing, and don't really have many friends. To anyone who doen't know me, I often come across as in my own world and a goofy and harmless lunatic*. I get bullied by a fair few people, oddly enough, by those younger than me. I'm much more liked by the higher years than I am the lower ones.

I like acting, writing, drawing, anything creative, really. I've never been good with much else. I like toast.

I also have a stupidly large crush on a girl 2 school years younger than me. Yeah. I feel really dorky and frustrated about that.

Also, speakin'o'which, visit my DeviantART in my sig, or I'll kill you and **** your child. Shameless self promotion is your friend!

*Teacher (to me and a friend): Y'know.. you two seem really in your own world.
Me: Question mark!

I have been having another problem that I'm afraid to tell my family, I've been born and raised in a Christian family, but I have been questioning God's existence. I don't want to say I'm agnostic, but it just feels like it.
Agnostic ain't so bad. You get to say "I guess there's a God, but I don't think we know anything about him, or if he even really gives a damm about us" and you don't have to go to church.

We also have peanuts.

Ah, that is a VERY good idea for a thread. It brings us closer as a community :D Thanks Janitor!

I might as well contribute:

19 years old, live in a very boring country as you can see (Luxembourg is pretty cool though, it's just too small to even get to know somebody with the same interests >__>). I'm quite a lazy person, with ADD and Asperger, but don't let that get on your nerves, because I'm still only human. ;) My life is not really messed up, but there have been many lows lately. Sorry to say I'm a very negative and pessimistic person. I might not have as many problems as some of you, but there's a lot of pressure on my chest right now. If I fail at my exams this time (it happened more than once), I flunk school. And at the moment, I haven't got any perspective on life. I'm not going to start with my problems with my boyfriend since these belong definitely in the Relationship Topic and even then, I already talked a lot about him in the other (unfortunately closed) Guys / Girls / Relationship thread. But I know I have a loving family, and some good friends and there's still my therapist who encourages me and whom I can confide in.
Otherwise, I'm pretty humorous, as long as the joke's not on me xD

Well, maybe...
I'm a Mexican-American girl, bilingual, who lives in Vienna, as my dad is a U.S. diplomat and I've traveled quite a bit. Last year of high school, today's the last day 17 years old and 18 in early July. I have Asperger's Syndrome so I don't have many friends nor the interest to make more, and it's one of the reasons I can sit in front of a glowing screen for so long and not get depressed. I'm not that good at school (then again I've gone to tough ones) mostly because I was teased a lot as a child and when my self-esteem and confidence died my grades went down with them and I kinda never recovered from that to get motivation.

I'm an atheist; after traveling so much and seen and studied so many amazing things people have done I've come to the conclusion that life does not need a god to make miracles. I do believe there is a supernatural element to life, and I believe in souls and reincarnation but I don't believe that there's a god saying what and what not to do, aka: I don't believe in good or evil. I also don't believe in human superiority over other life, but I'm no PETA member either, although that's more complicated.

I'll be moving to Vancouver, Washington in the summer.

I play Smash, but more casually than anything else and I can't hold a candle to most players here. I prefer to surf the internet and have a decent social life here on it than anything else. I'm also an obsessive hoarder of images I like and abuse the prntscrn button cause of it. As a good aspie, I like to replay memories in my head to comfort myself, and in that case it often works very well when remembering details. I'm also nervous, anxious and clumsy, don't like crowds and certain noises and tend to pace around and talk to myself irl sometimes. I've also been told I talk like a guy - without girls' fluttery language. I'm tomboyish and like to pretend punch guys and prefer to hang out with them (girls confuse me too), but I have a passion for cute things - although what I consider cute can vary a lot.

Also, one thing that people find odd is that I can take criticism very well for myself, but am quick to defend those who criticize friends or people I admire. I also tend to play devil's advocate in almost any argument.

(I'm also very short (152-153 cm) and envy Mic for being so tall)

Ok then if Reya did this then I should too.

Uhh I'm 18 and fairly tall (6'2" or 187cm for those of us who use the metric system) but I don't feel it since I have some really tall friends. I come from a fairly wealthy family and went to a snobby private school etc but I like to think I'm not like that. I'm currently in my first year at the University of Melbourne doing a double major in Economics and Political Science with a Socio-Legal Studies minor (still not sure if I wanna do Law or Commerce type of thing post grad). I did very well in school and I'm a total nerd like my sister and father.

I have quite a large group of very close friends who I love very much and can always rely on. Coming from an all boys school up until recently I had mostly male friends but since I started uni I seem to have undergone a massive shift towards having more female friends. I'm currently not seeing anyone but I did meet this cute girl I really like the other day so I'll have to see how that plays out.

I come from a catholic family though not strict or anything and I'm agnostic. I like to draw and play basketball, hockey and squash. I've also recently started to go to the gym 4 times a week to try and recapture the absurd level of fitness I had when I was playing squash 5 times a week last year. Oh and while I do enjoy my sport I don't take it seriously and really couldn't care less about winning or losing like some people.

I think it's obvious from the way I post but I'm a total smart arse who likes a good (and pointless) debate.
I'm also pretty shy in person if I don't know the person but change completely when talking with someone I know. And I think that's about it.

Dude. You live in Calgary? Do you realize how great of a community they have? I live in Red Deer but i have a lot of friends in Calgary who are great people. I'm sure you'd love them! Where are you moving to btw?

Hi my names... well, I hate my given name for reasons stated in the Gay Smasher's topic... I'm 19 years old, and I'm a music major. At my current college that is as specific as I can get... When I go to the university I go to (whichever that one is...), I plan of switching to Music Education. I found Smashboards through... hm... I don't even remember! It has been almost five years after all... Probably Google. I spend most of my time outside of classes playing my bassoon (which IS the most awesome instrument ever!), playing my keyboard, playing my Wii (although this may not hold true after MKWii gets boring.), and being on the internet.

I do have a social life, though, it's just my friends have jobs and I don't. XD So we can't always be together... :( But I do have a wonderful friend, one whom accepts me for who I am. She is the best. ^_^

16, been with this girl for almost 2 years now, known her since I was 13.

Love reading, and I make friends easily I think. Daydream a lot too. Love having conversations with people, love listening to other peoples stories, it's good to listen.

Was an above average pupil until about 13, then, due to the fact that I "hold my pen weird", I couldn't write a lot in a short amount of time fast enough. I never complained, I never could keep up with the rest of the class, even though I understood it more than half of them, but it didn't bother me, I just wrote at my own pace.

Teachers thought I was being lazy and hated this, mix this with the fact that I was generally very chatty, and they had a field day at having a go at me. This made me insubordinate, which gave them even more of a reason to have a go at me. Got moved down classes regardless of my grades, which ruined my chances of gaining my ambitions, which caused me to give up and absolutely despise school completely.

Have no grades, so I'm off that distant country America, to California, to find my dad who I haven't known since I was a few months old.

Yeah I live in calgary. Red deer is very different from calgary. I have not had suck luck with friends in calgary. Everyone ended up betraying me and hating me here. I personally think in general that people in calgary are unpleasant. I also don't like the lifestyle, there just isn't simply a lot to do and if you want to do stuff involving water or snow you gotta drive out a long way.

I'm moving to Kelowna, there's a lot more in british columbia.

Thanks for the link, but I didn't like brawl and I sold it and my wii for a PS3.

The majority of us don't like Brawl either. Most of us are still Melee players.
lol. I'm talking about people in Calgary, not Red Deer.

It's too bad you're moving to Kelowna D;
Come to Red Deer, I have no one who smashes here. xD

HAI GUYS!
I am Taiwanese-American but most of my friends consider me the token white guy. I'm a Junior in high school right now. I'm lazy as **** in terms of school but I still manage to pull off mostly A's on my report card. Let's see...what else...Melee>>>>>Brawl. I live in a very affluent neighborhood where most kids drive Porsches, BMWs and Mercedes-Benz's to school. I <3 the environment and punch my Korean friend when he just throws all the plastic bottles in the trash, and then force him to dig the bottle out and recycle it. I hate wasting food and/or resources. My friends are all nerds, even the friend who is a PUA. I like lifting weights when I can, playing violin/guitar and messing around in Photoshop. I also love being single. I got into competitive smash when I joined my school's video game club and met Rebel5120, who taught me all about advanced techs. Now I can't stop playing Smash.

I just started playing Resident Evil 4 and now I'm scared to go into my basement.

Hey this is a pretty cool idea for a thread lol. Life's pretty good on this end. I'm a 21 year old female brawler, currently in England (military) but from Florida, US. Um I was competitive in melee with fox, but my current situation hasn't allowed me to be competitive with brawl yet though I hope to be once I return to the states. I'm in the military cuz I wasn't very good with school, always had lots of extra tutoring and had to go to summer school a couple times and really just barely passed high school. Went to college but into the first semester I had 3 separate math tutors and was still near failing math class so I figured I didn't want to go through 4 more years of h*** and I went military. Before I was in the military my job was training narcotic dogs.

Smash is definitely one of my favorite games, nintendo has always kept me very happy since I was a wee girl lol. Favorite games are Rayman, smash, pokemon, mario kart, paper mario, tak and loads of others.

Umm whats els, my dad played professional football for the miami dolphins in the 80's (linebacker) so yea my family is huge on football and other sports as well. I've always been into sports and stuff since I was a wee child lol.

I pretty much get along with most people and am friends with lots of different types of people. Though most of my friends are back in the states.

My favorite food is corned beef

So I'm an 18-year old guy, and rather sappy and emotional. Yeah, you could call me Emo, even though I don't look like it. I have a serious attachment to my female friend of 4 and a half years. Not totally intrested me anymore, but I don't seem to ever give up on her. I took some AP classes to try out my skills as a student, and wished I had tired Freshman-Junior years. I really don't know my actual heritage, probably some English or Irish. My mom says Irish, but I still want to say English, since I drink tea and love their culture. I'm a weirdo, yeah.

I just sit around and mope all day on these board and listen to Power, Prog, and Quest Metal. I'm not one for expressing excess affection, especially in public. I like having a perverted aspect on things, just to make people get mad at me for it, to get a laugh at myself for a change. I'm pretty much stuck in my house until late August when I go to college. I'm hoping to becoming a mathematics teacher for High/Middle School.

I really enjoy philosophical and relationship management conversations, it let's me vent a little, and hear how some other people think. (If you wanna chat, just IM me and let me know who you are! :D)

My name is Baron, and I'm a Smash addict. *Hi Baron*

I go to middle school, and I'm renowned for my intelligence. I'm not very athletic, I'm not exactly what a girl looks for, and as a result, I've never had a girlfriend. At school, I have a total of four friends (I'm introverted), but I have aquainted myself with quite a few others. Two of those aforementioned friends have had girlfriends. If I had to describe myself with one word, it'd be Fluffy Puff Marshmellows a wimp.

Stamping your library books.
I was going to make the first post on this thread last week, but I didn't have enough time. :(

Anyways, 'sup! I'm Zook, aka Chris, age 15, from good ol' Weare (pronounced 'where'), New Hampshire. I was born in Rhode Island, though. (Warwick, any Smashers down there?) White, 10th grade, yeah yeah yeah. I like to draw, always thought that personal style was better than realism, and never got learn-to-draw books for that reason. Seriously, why would you want to draw like someone else? Also like video games, mostly smash and Nintendo in general, reading, writing, thinking.

I was atheist, but recently became agnostic, leaning towards atheism. I used to think that the very idea of God or any god-like being was absolutely absurd, but have come to realize that any god already defies... science or whatever the term is... and, therefor, is not bound by the laws of science. There could be a god, but I see no reason to believe in it. Otherwise, I consider myself a devout Pastafarian.

I've only had one crush (an overly exagurated one [I didn't spell exagurate right, I just know it]), on a girl 2 years older than me. I waited too long to tell her, and never actually asked her out... Anyways, she'll be gone in a few weeks (Days, maybe? Ugh, I hate time). Which is a good thing, I guess. Although she was one of my best friends... *zooksniffle* Anyhow, I also have the sex drive of a stump.

Pretty lazy when it comes to schoolwork, didn't do any work last year in Advance Algebra, so now I'm in normal Algebra 1. Score high on most tests, teachers get disgruntled towards me for not applying myself.

Personality? Normally pretty quiet around new people, but known for my sense of humor around my friends. I can't take much seriously-- Life is so grand, and people complain about it? El em ay oh! I laugh at myself, maybe a bit too much. I consider myself to be a 'nerd' (though not a huge one), but still talk with the 'jocks.' No one seems to hate me (In real life, I'm not nearly as lame as Zook), and I can't see why everyone likes me.

I love it when people PM me just to say hi!

Also, I miss Uncle Kenny, Heimie and cy... :(

Trombone > Bassoon no contest. Sorry. :) (if you can't tell, Trombone was my instrument of choice)

Anyway.

22 year old, name is Mike. I live in Pennsylvania - finishing up my last semester of college in the fall. I found Smashboards browsing the Melee board on GameFAQs (I'm currently active in the following boards: Lufia II, FFIII-FFVI, the Anime&Manga: Broadcast & Cable TV and A&M: Adult Swim and, finally, the "Older Gamers" board, Time Runner.) I listen to a lot of different types of music, though my preference is currently for 80's hair bands.

Video Games:

I've been playing for 19 years; I started on the NES. As far as Smash, I've been playing since the 64 days - I gave that one up after Melee was released. I've played Melee on and off for the past 7 years. From about 2002 to 2006, I played Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments on a weekly basis and did quite well. At one time, I'd say I was the best/most consistent YGO player in Northeast Pennsylvania (though, to be fair, when you're using a Beatdown deck, it's not hard.)

When I found Smashboards 3 years ago, I quickly learned about the Advanced Techs and started practicing them. I learned all of them except SHFFL'ing in about a month (I could shorthop and fastfall, but I couldn't time the L-cancel.) I wanted to go to my first tournament that fall, but didn't think I was ready. I turned my attention to poker in November '05, though I currently hate playing it. I'm on a break from it for the next month or so.

I've also been playing Pokemon since the R/B/Y days - I picked it up again after watching Destiny Deoxys a couple years ago with Emerald and LeafGreen. During Gen 4 (Diamond/Pearl), I started to fully explore competitive battling (I had done some during the First Gen, but those were a few isolated Nintendo events) and began using my AR to give myself the IV's, Natures, Pokemon, and movesets I wanted. I haven't been able to do any battling though - My last computer wouldn't run NetBattle, and I haven't kept up with the new online battle systems. That said, if there's any tech people here who can help me get the WiFi on my DS to work (I don't want to buy PBR), PM or IM me.

I have to head over to the Pokecenter now to bring this up:

Ok, I was debating on whether or not to post in this.

My name is Ricky, I'm 19. I am about to start at Appalachian State Universit next year. I will be playing tennis there. I am majoring in Physical Education. In High school I played football, basketball, and tennis. Sports are pretty much my life.

Smashboards- I used to just play around with the game. Then when I saw some videos online I got competitive. I found this site. I am really good friends with Dodongo in real life. He introduce me to the pool room and told me about the back room. Right after that I wanted in. I tried everything on the boards. I'm talking everything. Uncle Meat was my wing man. We have many secrets about these boards that would probably get us kicked off now. My favorite people on here were him, eor, zero beat, and Wiki was pretty kool. I eventually grew fond of Uncle Kenny, some other person from the time, and zook was always pretty kool. I grew away from the boards, mostly cause I dont have a computer at all.

Family- I come from a pretty poor family. I have always had to help my mom pay her bills. My dad left what I was 2 years old. I have two brothers and a sister. All younger. They probably look at me as a father figure. My friends are equal to family.

Personal- I'm always trying to be funny, but I have a very serious side. I find it hard to open up to people. This is me opening up. I never talk to most of my friends about my life.

I guess thats about it. I just sounded like a complete little ***** and stuff but whatever.

I just remembered the other person that I really miss. It was dibs!

My name is Tyler. I am 16 years old and a sophomore in a public high school. I don't do any formal after school activities- I quit doing sports because it affected my grades. I am a National Honors Society member, however, I am apathetic towards school and very lazy. My primary hobby besides video games would be tricking and freerunning. If you don't know what they are, you can look on youtube. It's pretty much self taught street gymnastics to generalize it. I am a conservative and a catholic. I like music a lot. Favorite genre would be metal and all it's subgenres. I have no girlfriend. I could have one, but I just don't want to put the effort into a relationship. I have no job but will get one for the summer. I prefer Melee a hundred times to Brawl. Favorite game of all time would probably be Melee or Gears of War. I dislike organized sports and the public school system. I have a fair amount of friends as well. Nothing major going on for me at the moment except for finals in a week or so. Oh, and I love AMP and RockStar energy drinks. ;)

That's me in a paragraph or more.

I don't care if anyone reads it. It feels good to spill your guts and look at your life like this every so often.
