Help against pikachu spamming down smash

You kno that one move where pika spins in a circle and it seems like it pulls u in.. Well im not the best marth out there and my friend isnt a good pika player but he spams that move all day and i do shield against it but whats the best way to approach that move? any tips will help since we are having a brawl tourney at the end of the month

Make Pika come to you. If he decides to spam thunder jolts at you just jump or shield them. Or just fan them away. If pika is spamming his dsmash wait for it to end and punish with the little time you got xD. I suggest dancing blade or a fair, something that comes out fast.

You can hit pikachu while in d-smash without getting hit. Use this to your advantage.

Marth has a sword. Use it. You don't need to get in Pikachu's face to hit him. In fact, it deals more damage and knockback with the tip. So tip more often.

I think you can handle it.

And if you get caught, DI up. You should get out pretty easily.

spacing is your friend. Use that killer range on that sword.

Force him not to use it, spacing is key.

Make him play defensive by poking him with sword attacks(ftilt/dtilt work well), or dancing blade(forward+b). Dancing blade works well to catch spotdodgers, and I'd expect this player to start rolling if he gets caught by it too much.

Really you should keep yourself at an arm's length from your opponent when attacking with Marth. You'd want to hit with the tip unless you're doing a combo of some sort(lol brawl combos)

no no no...here's what you do...if pika does his down smash you can DI out of it by tapping up so eventually when they see that their move is garbage they'll stop or you could fake you approach allow him to down smash and at the last frame tip him with a fsmash

To avoid the Down Smash, stay aerial and space Marths Fair properly. DTilt also helps, and so does FTilt. If you see him whiff a DSmash, hit him with a tipped FSmash, Dancing Blade, or try charging Shield Breaker.

If he catches you in the DSmash, you can DI upwards by holding up on the control stick, Smash DI by tapping up on the control stick or c stick, or do what I do and semi circle the control stick from about 60º to 120º back and forth rapidly. If you practice my method, it will get you out almost instantly.
