That'd be a perfect theme for him.

I'm curious what the fake-out element in a potential reveal trailer could be... They've all more or less had one so I'd be interesting to see what it'd be for him.
During a segment of E3 were they are talking about X and showing various trailers and footage. Most likely at the end of that segment.

Well i finished Xenoblade Chronicles a couple days ago, what a game! amazing in every way!, and i'm here to reassure my complete support for Shulk playable in SSB4, just imagining the content we could get from this game makes me want him in smash even more.
Since the deconfirmation of two of my most wanted newcomers in the past Direct, at this time he's my number one wanted newcomer.

Maybe Iwata could say that his final announcement comes from Monolith Soft and we are expecting to see X footage... but in actuality it's Shulk in Smash! Then immediately afterwards, we see footage from X!
Shulk in Smash and X footage... that would be the ultimate birthday gift they could give to me.
My birthday is actually the same day Xenoblade was released in Japan, June 10. Hahaha. It's as if it was destiny. :p

I heard that supposedly Shulk is going to appaear in X as hinted by a trailer, do you know if that is true?
I have seen the trailers but i didn't find nothing.

There isn't really a "hint" so to say, but there is a guy who looks like Shulk in this trailer (specifically at 1:01 and in the thumbnail).
It's either Shulk or a descendent of Shulk.

Just looking at these trailers makes me really excited for this game! Smash and X are the only games that I really care about that are coming out this year (I'll get MK8 and such, but I truly care about these games).

So i guess this was the only trailer i didn't saw, either way, this game looks so amazing, if i get a Wii U in the future, this will be one of my obligatory buys.

New Shulk Brawl hack:

****SPOILER for those of you who have yet to play Xenoblade******

While the hack is far from perfect, I always like to acknowledge fans who go the extra mile to put Shulk in smash. I think this is the most elaborate Shulk hack I have yet to see. He's oddly tall and lanky, but most of the visual gripes come from being placed over Ike.

Interestingly enough, he used the X symbol instead of a monado like we tend to do.

He went with arts for the specials and buster for the Final smash. The voice over is a nice touch, however the announcer sounds odd when saying Shulk in the beginning. I think visions are supposed to be the down special as a counter.

Dunban over link is cool too and the music choice is one of my favorites.

Note: This is only version one.

The random things I google when waiting for all the amazing games later in the year

Edit: At the very end of the video, Shulk's victory music plays. Not something I'd personally go with but I like the way it sounds

Dude. That moveset (and hack in general) is incredible! I'm actually working on a moveset of my own that uses some similar ideas. Will probably post it...sometime soon.

One thing about that hack. (SPOILS)
The use of Monado III was extremely weird, but I guess it was probably easier than adding in the original, what with its changing size and all.

I would expect the stylized X be used as the Xenoblade series logo, because of how that is going to be a recurring theme with this series.

Hmm...
That hack is pretty good by its standard. I find it odd how Monado Cyclone is Shulk's up special and the animations... ehh... not a fan of them.
Still, it's a nice job to have a hack to put Shulk in the game. Though, in all honesty, I would just use the textures alone for when I play Project M.

I can Xenoblade's logo be either that stylized "X" or the Monado.

What do you guys think about a Xenoblade Stage? and what gimmicks/hazards it could have?
The Bionis Leg had some platforms at the lake part that could work pretty well, with it's breathtaking landscape, plus, it has one of the best songs in the game -Gaur Plains- (though that song gotta be in smash regardless what stage is choosen)

Eryth Sea already has some floating platforms too, or maybe a stage wich involves Bionis moving, making the stage to "transform" and the players have to fight in different locations.

I have three stage ideas:
1. Guar Plains: The design of the stage is very curved or is at least an abnormal structure. The background would feature monsters and the area itself. It would capture the beauty of Guar Plains in HD.
2. Eryth Sea: I was thinking of something like Delfino Plaza where you go on a platform and you move from island to island. Though, I can imagine that we fight on a single island.
3. A completely neutral stage where you see the Bionis and Mechonis fight in the background.

Oh look I changed this
That was a really nice hack, pretty good for what stage its in. Also didn't expect engage the enemy to work as fighting music.

Man I already want Xenoblade content in SSB4 :v

I'm in a similar boat, I can live with Shulk being excluded as a playable character; but if there's a lack of any significant Xenoblade content (stages, items, AT's, and music), that would suck majorly.

Start in a 3 tiered base (non walkoff) battling. Eventually the Mechonis and Bionis come to life and begin fighting, and the stage, still on the sword, is used to attack the Bionis while you fight on it.

It says a lot I am more excited for Xenoblade stage and music than Shulk himself, but I still want him in badly.
You're not the only one, only hearing some Xenoblade beautiful music without playing the actual game makes you support Shulk, and the outstanding landscapes in HD, hnnnnnng! and of course, playing the whole game is the full, amazing experience after all.

But yeah, if Shulk appears in the game, i will really look forward to main him.

I'm thinking Prison Island would be a solid choice, It could be similair like Spear Pillar in Brawl designwise, but offcourse without those annoying hazards. The only hazard that should happen imo on this stage is a boss battle with Metal Face

Major Major Spoilers for Xenoblade

Zanza in the background in his giant vessel would also be a nice touch & Face Nemesis hindering the Metal face hazard of joining the battle would also be awesome.
Maybe its a bit to spoilerish, but Sakurai doesn't really care for that like with Zelda = Sheik in Melee to give an example. Sakurai is crazy enough to implent a sign with an arrow pointing to Zanza, "This is the Final Boss *laughs"

It's a bit different just since Zelda isn't really a story driven franchise like Xenoblade, but I guess it could be done.

Personally I'll honestly say that Boss Battles are going to be my least favorite addition this game so far. Hazards are bad enough, but something as centralizing as a hazard that won't go away if you ignore it just too much.

Yeah. Frankly with a couple of potential exceptions, I'm not a big fan of the boss battles idea. I'm at least glad he opted to give every stage at least an FD version, and still have stuff like BF and Smashville, otherwise it'd just be a mess...

I still think Metal Face popping up could be cool as hell, just because I can play on the FD version after the novelty wears off.

Who's to say the bosses aren't rare occurrences? And who's to say there's no option not to have them appear at all? Sakurai has gotten everything else right when it comes to balance and giving the players lots of customization options, so I don't see why we should start doubting him now.

He's definitely done a lot of things right, but I wouldn't say he's gotten everything right. Plus it just seems like a stage hazard/stage boss switch would've been discussed at about the same time as the FD variants, which seems to be an adequate solution in his opinion.

I'm certainly hoping there's some sort of hazard switch that won't force me into FD, but there's basically no reason to assume it's there if you ask me, so I'm just hoping the Xenoblade stage will be nice and neutral by default.

Would be awesome if "One who gets in our way" starts to play when Metal Face joins the stage out of nowhere, to give you the feeling you are going to face a boss

That reminds of me how that vision song, which was decent but not great, would occasionally appear and just take over "One who gets in our way" and "You will Know our Names." Wasn't a fan

Edit: Here's the song for anyone who is curious

I downloaded a ton of BRSTMs yesterday for Project M. I must say that You Will Know Our Names is incredibly fitting for Battlefield!

I wasn't a fan of that mechanic either. If visions return, I hope that feature gets omitted in X as I found it to be annoying (and it sucks if you fight any Superbosses as that song is what you are going to listen to the majority of the time).

That song kicks ass. The guitar rifts are amazing and I'd love to see it in this game.

I wonder how his newcomer trailer would go. I'd love to see something involving his visions myself.

Honestly I don't know what I would want more. A reveal trailer or just the sheer joy of playing the game, not knowing he's even in there, and having the Challenger Approaching screen be the first time I see him.

I imagine even if hes unlockable he'd still get a nice video included with the game and shown on the site at some point.

I actually thought of a cool set up too. Trailer starts with various Smash characters in first person pov of them, Mario using Fair, Link using his Dash, Mega Man firing a F Smash, Little Mac hitting a KO punch, all in a blue filtered tone. The screen flashes white as you see Shulk look up, while in Shadow, you see his hand grabbing Monado and pulling it out of the ground.

Move scene to where 4 characters are fighting in CG mode as Shulk steps out, you see the nice little banner ("Shulk busts in" or something) then you see gameplay, where you see him countering the various moves from the vision, while also showing some other highlights of his moveset, ending in his Final Smash.

Or something cool like that.

I prefer to see a trailer for him. I just want to see him in action in future PotDs. That and I want to see what his trailer would be like!

I'd like if even secret characters got a little CGI video that you could see once you unlocked them. That'd be the best case scenario for me, though I would love the possibility of seeing Shulk in daily pics. 'Course, with my luck we'd probably see him about as often as we see Marth, so bleh.

I decided to finally play Xenoblade this week, made it to the entrance of Prison Island. I gotta say, so far it's one of the best games I've played and I'm surprised at how good it is. The gameplay mechanic, the bosses, the story, the characters (Riki ftw), the music, and the world is huge.

Shulk would be awesome but I feel he'll be a secret character unless Xenoblade content and stage are revealed. He deserves a trailer, though, be it before or after release.

No way he's going to be a secret character with X being developed right along side smash. I have a feeling it'll be at E3 where most of the unrevealed newcomers will be announced. We only have essentially 4 months till it comes out so they can't keep us waiting forever. With Shulk being one of the most highly anticipated characters there's no chance they wouldn't give him a super awesome trailer (ima watch it like 50 times a day when it comes out). Besides, Greninja got one so I'm pretty confident Shulk will get one too.
