Just checking up on you guys after the big reveal. I hope you guys weren't too upset about not having your hyped up "MonadoMonday."

On that note, how do you guys feel about Shulk's chances now that the Gematsu Leak has proven itself to be inaccurate and (judging by the "enjoy my good friend Shulk" comment) unreliable? Do you still think Shulk will be in the game despite this setback?

I mean, he better be. You guys and your confidence in Shulk's chances made me buy Xenoblade and become fond of Shulk. I don't want to be disappointed.

As a fellow tactician, I always doubted the leak, and yet I always felt Shulk was still a shoo-in. So my opinion hasn't changed at all! I believe Shulk has too much going for him in moveset potential, popularity, and the ability to represent a new franchise that Nintendo seems to be pushing.

Besides that, VA tweets don't hurt our case at all, even if they're not guarantees.

That reminds me, what do you guys think about the Nopon? I've heard that a lot of people dislike them for some reason. I personally love them.

I usually dislike mascot characters in RPGs, but I loved the Nopon. One was a useful party member, later they have an important role in the story, and they don't have an annoying gimmick. Like Moogles always saying kupo. That's right, I don't like Moogles, come at me bronado.

It's not even Shulk I'm worried for, it's a RH rep. Chances of getting a RH rep, Shulk, and Takamaru (three of my most wanted, alongside K. Rool) are lost. We'll only get a maximum two of the three, I believe.

Out of all the characters you mentioned I think it's safe to assume there would be a Rhythm Heaven rep. I mean the sneaky spirit in Smash Run is pretty telling. Like I said before four more newcomers is pretty likely, Ridley is the most popular unannounced newcomer in the West, Shulk is the most popular unannounced character in Japan, DK needs a third rep and a Rhythm Heaven rep seems the most likely of the four.

Oh yeah, true. I guess that completely slipped my mind because it's not annoying to me, haha. And I've gotten into the habit of saying "something-pon" in everyday life.

I'm not too worried, it's been mentioned that there are several factors in Shulk's favor. Going into the Sm4sh speculation season, Shulk was my number three most wanted character. I got my number one and two, now I am waiting to complete the cycle .

Ridley support thread might be the place to drop by. As we saw in the trailer, when Sakurai deconfirms a character, he straight up does it and makes sure we know. The rampant hinting and teasing he's done would be extremely disappointing if it were for Ridley reprising his role as a boss.

Ridley in Shulk's trailer would be awesome. He wouldn't be out of place at all. Especially considering the wide range of enemies Shulk fights.

I think I'm the only one who didn't think it was Monado Purge because I almost never actually used it in-game, oddly enough.

Yeah, I know. My post is more of a nod to the fact that alot of people seem to think that Sakurai really likes trolling his fanbase. He seems like a really cool guy imo.

Despite never playing Xenoblade Chronicles myself (though I am watching chuggaconroy's playthrough of it), I support Shulk. Even with the apparent death of the Gematsu leak, Shulk still has a lot going for him. It'd be pretty much a cardinal sin not to include him in Smash.

I sort of view Shulk as in the same position as Little Mac was prior to his reveal right now, if not moreso. It's true it could not happen, but honestly there's no reason for it, they're popular, (and relevant, even though I care less about that) and just make sense.

I actually kind of think that Shulk is the japan equivalent of Little Mac in terms of popularity and smash requests. May be just me though.

Nah, y'know, I sort of feel the exact same way. Honestly I was looking forward to a list of Japanese reactions full of hype instead of "What?" for Little Mac and Gorilla Buff Ike.

Shulk makes the most sense as the "popular everywhere but mostly Japan holy ****." character. Takamaru could've been the inverse of Mac, but frankly, I think with the addition of Shulk, 9 swordsmen is enough without causing too much ********.

...Lemme make sure my math is right.

Link, Tink, Marth, Ike, Robin, Lucina, Meta Knight, Pit and Shulk. 9 right? That sounds fine by me.

Which in itself is hilariously suspicious! Those Xenoblade directors/writers are following this too closely for it to be a coincidence. I think it also helps that they probably know how bad the Japanese smashers want the Dixon Shulk.

True, true. And yet, I find her much more interesting to play in theory than Marth. It must be that I never liked the tip mechanic, (or Roy's hilt mechanic. That was dumb.) so I think I might actually enjoy her.
