My money is on a Chain Attack Final Smash, actually. That'd be good, though.
Oh, I agree, Chain Attack is better. I was just proposing other options xD

And @ Jedisupersonic Jedisupersonic I would think it would work like it does in Xenoblade Chronicles: Shulk and two other party members do a chain of attacks, possibly ending with Shulk doing Monado Buster for the effect. As for party members, I'd think anyone is fair game, maybe even shuffle it randomly.

Question is, which form would they use for Fiora? Sakurai isn't above spoiling her half-Mechon form, but her pure Homs form is more known, I guess?

Probably would be more accurate but I'd think it would be cool if his whole team came in for the chain.

It would be. What would be cool is if they all did a move of the same "color", ending on a massively boosted Monado Buster (the most likely setup for that would probably be Slit Edge, Hammer Beat, Head Shot, Gale Slash, Spear Break or a Spell, Bitey-Bitey, See Spoiler, back to Shulk for a Monado Buster). Good thing Talent Arts count as any color, eh :p

Fiora's attack would likely depend on which form she's in. Hard to guess xD

What would be cool too is if they threw in the statuses for the attacks popping up just like in Xenoblade

If Shulk has a chain attack finish smash I could see:

- Shulk uses stream edge to initiate the final smash and inflicts break on any opponents, then in quick succession, Reyn uses wild down and Dunban uses Steel Strike simultaneously to inflict topple, followed by Sharla using head shaker and Fiora using cross impact to inflict daze, Melia and Riki inflict chill? and poison?... then Shulk finishes with something intense...

or only 3 out of 7 characters appear and do a daze combo with a finisher by Shulk,

or similar to Mega Man, all 7 characters appear and attack at the same time.

Lots of possibilities with this one.

Well, after quite some time, I think I'm starting to reach the end of Xenoblade Chronicles. After all this, I'm rather excited for the prospect of Shulk being a Smash character. I think there's a lot of potential for him as a unique character, and I would love to see some Xenoblade music and environments in Smash. There's a lot of great stuff they can pull from the game, and I hope Sakurai makes full use of it all. I'm looking forward to Shulk's possible reveal in the future.

And I hate to ask this, but does anyone have any advice on how to beat Disciple #1? That boss seems unusually difficult compared to everything else I've dealt with...

I assume you mean Lorithia? She has a low Ether Defense. I led with Melia and used Sharla and Riki as back-up. Best thing to do is let your back-up deal with Lorithia while you deal with her nebulae. Also try to be level...oh, say...73 or so?

Yeah, that's one of the hardest boss battles in the game, according to a lot of people, myself included.

Yes, that's the one. I heard that she had a low Ether Defense, so I tried using a party of Melia-Shulk-Dunban (I usually use Shulk-Dunban-*Spoiler*). She and the nebulae tend to gang up on me and do way too much damage for me to properly respond to. Melia can do some pretty good damage to the nebulae before that happens, but it's usually not enough to keep everyone from dying. Though admittedly I'm unfamiliar with using Melia, so I may not be doing things right.

I remember that fight. @ MooseSmuggler MooseSmuggler definitely has better advice than me, but I managed to beat it by being on par with the boss's level and defeated her with Shulk in the lead and having Riki and Sharla in the party.
Just be warned that "You'll pay for your insolence." will be stuck in your head...

IMO, the hardest boss battle in the game, not including the bonus ones. The problem is that she's GIANT and the battlefield is small and surrounded by ether and the AI for your party members doesn't recognize "Hey, I'm standing in ether and taking damage!" as a bad thing. One of the very, VERY few poorly designed locations in Xenoblade is the place for that boss battle.

So, definitely lead with Melia. I did Melia/Shulk/Dunban for my party, IIRC. She'll have a few flunkies, take some, but not all of them out. The reason for this is that you can do almost no damage to her until the flunkies start dying, BUT, if all of them are gone, she will spawn more. Leave one or two alive as long as you can. Taking out just a few lowers her defense to a reasonable level.

Above all, avoid the ether on the sides. Good luck.

"Enjoy this battle, for it will be your last!"

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind. Is there anything specific I should be doing with Melia for this fight? I usually just try summoning a lot of bolts and and a few other elementals and just fire them off for damage. That worked pretty well on all the random enemies outside of the boss room, but so far it hasn't been very effective while fighting four nebulae and one annoyingly large abomination all at once.

It's funny because I have to constantly hear her say that every time I get killed and have to try again.

You can mess up the nebulae with a well placed Mind Blast. Hits them with Arts Seal so they can only do an auto-attack. If you get them before they move, getting all of them in a single blast is possible. Requires a bit of luck with timing though.

Just keep in mind that when using Melia, whatever elementals you have summoned will give you buffs until you fire them. So it might be a good idea to keep a bolt or two in the first two elemental "slots" while you use the third "slot" to fire whatever you want. Also, use summon earth to poison her.

Bear in mind that these strategies are only what worked for me. Just mess around with strategies, try new ones, alter mine if you need to... It is an incredibly tough battle. You'll have to find out what works best for you. The only constant you'll need in this battle is leading with Melia. Don't change that.

I never really thought about that for an alt. That would look pretty cool!

That would be an amazing alt. costume for Shulk. Hopefully Sakurai will do that if he has been giving some creative alts for other characters.

And considering today's post with alt Mario and Samus and all of the other ones like Pink Hoodie Mac, i'm sure we'll get it. At least something cool. Jungle armor plz?

Also, Disciple 1 is a PAIN. I grinded super hard and just used Monado Cyclone repeatedly because Melia's mechanics confused me. Shulk, Riki, Spoiler was my team and everyone was equipped with Ether Up gems XD

I was never able to beat that one. :'(

I spent so much time grinding and I still couldn't win, so I stopped there and watched the rest on YouTube.

Also, I think a coloration of that is more likely after today's picture.

Well, I'm only slightly past you, as I've beaten Metal Face, but haven't left Sword Valley, so that makes me slightly more than halfway!

I really need to level up my team, though. I'm getting dominated...

Yeah, probably half way. The game is long. My playthrough was 76 hours without doing many of the sidequests.

Like the others said, Melia wrecks her. I used Melia/Dunban/Sharla against her. I always kept a summoned bolt and wind for more ether and agility, I will keep a second bolt around as well so I can chuck that at Lorithia. I think Ice is the most effective on the elementals. It does tons of damage on them (AOE as well) and chill damage makes it much easier taking them out. When they're summoned, though, you gotta focus on them or you'll keep on taking damage and Lorithia can eventually just make them go kaboom on you. They also give buffs to Lorithia in the same way that elemental summons can give to Melia and her party. This is why I recommend using Fire and Earth as you can still do DPS to Lorithia while fighting off the elementals. Mind Blast is also pretty effective in this fight. I do know that you can topple her, but I have no idea if you can do so with Spear Break + Starlight Kick. I don't quite remember.

Also remember to stay out of the ether. It's such a pain to watch your teammates rot in there.

Oh boy! Spoilersations here we go again! (Major spoilers below!)

On Lorithia, and pretty much for the rest of the game until I reached Zanza, at which point I used Fiora/Shulk/Riki and won, I used the Riki/Melia/Sharla combination. Nothing could ever kill tank-Riki with that many agility+aggro gems, although I had some trouble with Zanza. (I was 82 when I finished.)

Lorithia's minions gave me a bit of trouble, but I never went down with that combo (was playing as Melia) and kept hammering away at her. Same for Dixon.

A bit of verbal irony in the sense that 76 hours is quite a lot of hours, yet it's the shortest playtime I've seen for this game.
Yeah, i skipped a LOT of the game. I rushed it just in case Shulk was revealed at E3 so i wouldn't be spoiled, should they spoil anything. I never even repaired colony 6. Never even stepped foot in there actually. Only on Chuggaa's playthrough did i know it existed XD

Wow. I mean, I understand. I started to rush for the same reason, although I was in the final stretches of the game.

Didn't say prior, but add me on as well. Shulk is the only newcomer I've wanted for a long time that actually has any chance left :urg:

I think the three most likely final smash are Monado Buster, Chin Attack, or Vision of the Future

I'd like Buster to be one of his B's honestly.

Also Chin attack I know is a typo but I had the amazing mental image of Shulk chinning someone to death.

Also if I'm not on already add me to the supporters list
