Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
:D

Hey, I'm a happy camper. I received pretty much everything I asked for, save for a new bowling ball. But that would've been a luxury rather then a highlight.

Some notable things included..
*Sansa e280 MP3
*Guitar Hero 3
*Family Guy Box Set 5
*Jeff Dunham's Spark of Insanity AND Gabriel Inglasias' Hot and Fluffy (Stand-up DVDs)
*Spiderman 3 (collector's edition)
*Salvador Dali's 'The Hallucinogenic Toreador' painting, about 30 by 20 measurment, more or less
*Guinness World Records 2008

Hope everybody got what they wanted :)
Your parents are amazing.

[...]if you really did it out of anything other than obligation you would have been doing gifts all year long, not just when you have a chance to get something back.
But I do give my friends presents all year round. This is just an excuse to wrap the presents up and make them wait to open them.

And I think this Christmas has to do with christians thing is funny. Yeah, Yule, Beltine, the Winter Solstice Festival and the birth of Mithra don't have anything to do with Dejesus. So whats the big deal? Here in America we call it Christmas. A rose by any other name is still fun to party on.

Happy New Years, all.

Adumbrodeus, Christmas is Christmas - who gives a flying ****.

It helps the economy, everyone's happier, eggnog is aflowin', PEOPLE SINGING IN PUBLIC (such a wondrous thing to see..man, everyone in a large public place singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is like..what!), and people give gifts because it's fun to do. You can also place Jesus's importance on it, but you don't need to do that to celebrate Christmas.

Christmas is about spreading good cheer and good will towards men (in physical form - gifts - and otherwise).

If you don't like being happy, shut the hell up and go elsewhere ^___^
I think it's obvious that the commercialism attached to it does not make me happy at all. It does quite the opposite for me.

What makes me happy is that brief shinning couple of hours on Christmas night that I get to spend with my family and close friends. Sure, the presents are nice (both giving and receiving), but was it really worth all the aggravation and preparation I had to go through in order to purchase them, and forcing others to do the same for me?

Not really. Christmas has always been that way for me, just those couple of hours of good cheer with a horrible, stress-filled lead-up. All too often the stress of preparing for Christmas bleeds into that period as well, ruining the night with petty squabbles that would've been avoided if the day had not become so commercialized.

Again, I'm far from alone in this opinion of the holiday (think about Festivus, even though it was started as part of a TV show, it's gaining strength because people are fed up with the commercialization of Christmas).

My parents depended on me a lot, so Christmas didn't mean presents for me, it meant constantly working and mom and dad getting incredibly stressed. Truthfully, once people reach a certain age, they seem to take my view, work and stress.

Sure, it's great for (most) kiddies, and people at to a certain age (usually mid-twenties), but once you get past that point you really can't wait for Christmas to be over.

I have no issue with most of the traditions, merely the extravagance that they have been taken too, primarily because they have become the reason for the season in most people's minds.
On one hand, Christmas really helps the economy, and on the other hand, Christmas is the time of year in which most suicides occur from stress.

I dont see anything wrong with the way we celebrate Christmas now. I would definitely prefer if it was strictly religious, but I think the way it is now has many benefits as well. Christmas and Easter, for some people, are the only times in the year were they will attend church. Christmas opens many doors for these people.
