I got some Falco recorded usage from a recent tournament. I mostly went Falco/Robin with some Bowser and Rosalina at this tournament but here you go. Commentary is weak sauce.
Ran into a pretty Awesome ROB on for glory. Ive never actually played a good or even decent ROB, so that first game WOW did I get Bodied. Kinda figured him out then proceeded to continue to do what worked to win. He wont accept my friend request lol I'd love the practice.
Edit 2: Edit Harder: AC's Falco and Sheik vs. CDK's Fox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7njcy7cYdI. AC's usage of walking is very interesting. Early on, he also makes use of Side Smash to anti-air Fox (0:50).
Nom's Falco vs. Technology's Meta Knight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfAxTYr0HC4. Pessimistic, but I agree with the "matchup inexperience" deal letting Nom take this... This was like watching a more mobile and obscure Ganondorf punish a player for not knowing how strong he is, what he can do, and what the player should have done.
Edit 5: A Good Day to Edit: Cyro got clobbered by J.A.P.A.N's Little Mac.
[Set 1], [Set 2], and [Set 3]. Set 2 had the calmest fight I have ever seen. It was weird and interesting. It wasn't like watching AC be calm and CDK be all frantic, but 2 players just taking it easy and looking for openings.

I was waiting for this to be mentioned, lol.
Yeah, I got demolished in those matches, BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND IT WAS 2 A.M.!
That deviant also conveniently left out the ones where I didn't get bodied.

Really? Eh, lots of stuff that gets uploaded usually involves the uploader winning unless it's really weird and they're looking for answers as to why they lost or why something happened like if a rage Smash killed them because they were charging a Smash by accident. Maybe you could ask him to send you his replays of you winning and you could upload them on your channel.

I was kidding, I don't really mind. I saved like one because I got a funny footstool, but I don't really think it's worth uploading.
Usually, I just like to upload something close or intense as far as matches go, to give suspense to the viewer about the actual result. If the match was hype I would definitely be willing to upload my loss, though.
Apparently this dude was able to play against Keitaro and Zucco; DK Knight's Falco vs. Zucco's Mega Man: [Part 1], [Part 2], and [Part 3]. Mega Man vs. Falco... Probably not a matchup that happens often.
DK Knight's Falco vs. Keitaro's Falco: [Part 1] and [Part 2].
We got a Falco in the Netherlands! Rahx's Falco vs. Wreck-It-Mundo's Wario: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt9qUWwUHMI. I hate Falco's vertical recovery (Fire Bird) so much... Also, when he clanked Wario's Bike with Up Smash, I'm pretty sure he should have been hit, but he didn't. I'll ask the Wario boards or something.
Rahx's Mega Man and Falco vs. Meru's Peach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr78ShE0DIo. Rahx's usage of Up Smash is great in both sets, but he needs to not Dair on-stage. I don't know why he does that; maybe it's a Mega Man habit since he was able to get on-stage Dairs on Meru a lot, but not with Falco.
Hi everyone I am new to competetive smash and was hoping for some advice on my falco play and any tips fellow burds may have , please watch some of my gameplay and tell me what I could improve on any advice would help.
P.S: srry for the potato quality I am a poor college kid without a hdmi capture card.
P.P.S I have only been playing for about 2 months on wii u and am not used to the gamecube controller so alot of smash attacks are supposed to be sh aerials and airdodges are too early techs. any advice on controls would be welcome also.
You're playing pretty well for only playing for a short time.
You don't have to learn how to play with the GC controller if you don't want to, many players still use them because that's all they've ever used. I at least use it for that reason. If you still want to us the GC controller that's cool too. Eventually you will get more used to the controller and you'll know the layout like the back of your hand.
Anyways, I can see that sometimes it looks like you're getting shaken up or just unsure what to do next mid-battle and just hold shield. Always keep moving, Falco isn't very quick on the ground but he's got enough juice to get the job done. Staying mobile makes it harder to be read and creates less openings to be punished.
As always spacing is super important, you were okay on that for the most part. Good spacing on Falco's bair and fair are paramount, so be a little more careful on approaching. Another thing to be careful on are the laser and reflector use. You didn't get punished very hard before but a really strong player can take advantage of how much lag they have.
Keep playing and you'll be a low tier hero one day! Welcome to the Lombardi boards!
Your combo and punish game is pretty good. Don't forget how good jab is as a punish. The major thing I saw, espeically in the second game is that your neutral was lacking. And really when it comes down to it, that's a fault of the character. Falco has horrible matchups against characters with a strong neutral game (Sheik, Rosy, Fox, etc.) One thing, never, ever use lasers. Its just too punishable especially against fast characters (Shiek, Falcon, Fox, etc.) I would recommend side maining a character with a better neutral. From your play style I would recommend Falcon or Fox because of your strong combo game. Luigi is also an interesting choice because of his absurd punish and neutral game.
Keep an eye out for buffs on Falco, though. He is really one of those characters that is one good buff away from being a real threat. This would be auto cancel lasers coming back (wishful thinking) or better aerial follow-ups.
Really liking your use of nair and fair through platforms. This imo is key to Falco's pressure game and catches people often off guard.
Yoshi's spin dash can be shield grabbed on hit. It's a little trickier to put off online of course but offline should be easy. It's hilarious to do since most Yoshi players reactions are like 0.0 basically a free punish imo. I did it during a tourney and spectators were like ohhhh shnap.
He grabbed the ledge twice towards the end which should've been punished but reaction to it takes some practice. I usually do a run off ledge bair and if they tech then follow it with a phantasm at the ledge for a possible spike.
All in all I gotta say nice flaco. I took a break may get back into playing I give you a 7.5/10 Noice!
Bravo! to Bravo, a South Dakotan Falco player, taking The Smash Mine #2 with Falco. Couldn't find a challonge or bracket for this. They have a League of Legends bracket made ages ago...
Bravo's usage of Side Smash punishes, foxtrots, edge play, and neutral highlight his play style. Bravo's cautious and commits very little. Also, his lack of Bair usage is interesting to say the least. Most people spam, fish, and rely on Falco's Bair like Ally, but Bravo uses Bair only when its necessary and when he knows he's going to land one.
These are patch 1.1.0 videos of Keitaro's Falco at Shequinox. He's the only player I know that uses Falco's Up Smash at the ledge. Pretty sure you can do this with Utilt as well, but considering the active frames both moves have and their coverage, maybe more Falco players should use Utilt and Up Smash at the ledge to cover normal getup? and jump options at the ledge. Keitaro took 5th: http://hitboxarena.challonge.com/ShequinoxAutumn2015WiiU1v1.
Keitaro vs. James's Luigi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV4XhIg6k-M. Wondering how the Luigi MU plays now with the change to Luigi's D-throw... Considering Falco's jab 1 and 2 recovery frame and rapid jab's transition shenanigans... Better, but still silly and not in the funny way.
What's up guys, I recently got 5th at a local tournament and fortunately I got to play on stream. I would really like some feedback from you Falcos if you have the time to watch the sets !
For anyone who is bored! Help support this new monthly in PA, and watch your boy Dark Falco at this event going solo Falco http://www.twitch.tv/local_gwj
Bravo's Falco vs. Schwing's DK and Captain Falcon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rSrlhYpm4I. Bad day for Schwing? Last uploaded grand finals, Schwing had a much stronger showing.
And if you really want to watch an unfortunate soul get demolished... Daybreak vs. amDream's Fox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSSKwDJLlt4. First tournament for amDream?
If you want to see B-reverse and wavebounce? laser usage, then watch Marss ditto ATARi for the first round of their winners quarters set; Marss's Falco and ZSS vs. ATARi's Falco and Ness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpumYdL-ifQ. Oh, the misinformation continues... Ignore the commentator saying Falco's Uair can't kill; Falco's Uair does kill like Captain Falcon and ZSS's... In other words: it kills late the lower you are and kills better higher up.
Aye. Also yea I think it was that guys first tourney, I had never seen him at anyone before that. And that tourney was the day after I was like really getting comfortable with uair into Bair so I tried it every chance I could, that's why I used it so much.
Also I made it out of pools at Big House 5 using Solo Falco! Still need to consistently get higher than 17th at weeklies tho.
Well do you mean Waves or Phases? There was several different waves across the day to get everyone fit in, but 4 phases of the whole tourney. There was Phase 1 pools, Top 128, Top 32, and Top 8. I made it out of Phase 1 Pools onto the Top 128, where I lost to a Diddy player named Sai from Ohio. So I got 97th out of 516 if I remember correctly.
Lol at first I thought u were talking about the local then I saw you meant big house so that's why i edited it.
I have been rocking Falco with a flavor of Kirby in my local scene for about 3 months now, I have some videos on my recent matches that have been uploaded by some of our peeps in our scene, and I'd like to share them so you can critique my falco/my general playstyle a bit. This time in our halloween tournament I managed to get to the losers semis before being knocked out by our DK player when I decided to go Zero Suit Samus for no reason, don't comment on my ZSS 'cause I know she needs lots of tuning lol.
SPOILERS : French commentary is included in those videos, We are french canadian here so yeee. Also the sound could get a bit annoying, I believe we still gotta find the right settings to adjust it right. My tag is Baj btw.
That's a win for me, tho I gotta love that second match where I switched to Kirby to see if I could have an easier time even when I won the first match and got style'd on HARD. Usually my Kirby's better I swear lol
Played him earlier in our pools matches and went flawless. He adapted real fast from our first matches I'd say, he gave me a real hard time this set. I choked REALLY HARD on that last match, made a misinput that lost me the game, y'all see why.
THAT set is where I feel I played at my best in this tournament. I got some good plays there ! I dunno why he counter-picked me to Duck Hunt on the second match, I LOVE that stage for Falco. The matches were sanic fast, and thus I move on to my last set this tournament.
Jesus that DK made me lose my focus so hard. He punished me way too often, and he is pretty much the reason why I got back here to ask for help. A really close game 1, but I lost. For whatever reason I lost my cool and decided to yolo ZSS it, I got hard-read when I did one of my Flip Jumps, should have known he was ready for it when he was charging the punch :t
That's it so far ! Our scene organizes a local tournament each 2 weeks, And I have a regional (not sure if considered one) that I'll attend to this weekend that might record some matches (Keyword : MIGHT), Can't wait to go there and smash it on !
I might consider training as Villager for some campy match-ups, what are your thoughts on that, since Kirby is only there for a couple niche match-ups (Sheik, ZSS, Capt. Falcon and Fox namely, so I don't get beat up as hard as my Falco does) and my ZSS clearly isn't that good ?
TKBreezy's Falco vs. Zamboni's Lucina: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_OfOfwbkX8. Really on point with those Bairs. Also, maybe TK was trying to figure out what move to do, but I think it would have been a safe option to just Nair right after a ledge canceled jab.
Got a set on stream on Thursday at Smashfield Weeklys!(Michigans main Weekly). It was a pretty big upset and I played decent I guess except for those 10 seconds I was fishing at the end(idk what got into me haha) but I'm glad I got it on stream.
Daybreak(Falco) VS Nibble(Mario)
Footage of FOW's Falco which I don't remember seeing since the 3DS days. FOW's Villager, Falco, and Lucas vs. Z's Samus, Palutena, and Mewtwo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVUs4Y5LmgE. In general, thinking FOW should try to incorporate Dtilt more and just full jab Fox and other faster character who can mash out of his jab. Also, really liking how he uses wall jumps as part of his gameplay, especially wall jump B-reversed Blaster. Cyro and FOW come to mind as the only players who uses wall jumps a lot with Falco.
FOW's Falco vs. SK92's Fox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Skjjj_GmTUw. I distinctly remember hearing the commentator say FOW picked up Falco to deal with Rosalina because Ness's recovery is pretty much nonexistent against her and in general, I think the MU is advantaged to Rosalina, but severely when Ness is off stage. That said, he has Lucas who could just not use PKT2 to recover and use Rope Snake instead. Also, Villager might not be a bad idea against Rosalina... Eh, just some musings on the commentator's comment.
This is a set between me and AC. (Number 1 player in Tijuana and has pretty good results as a Falco main.) You see Falco for the the first two sets with one of the sets as a ditto. This shows how good a patient Falco is.
I dont know the Olimar MU at all lol and that SD at the end of game 3 didn't help. Speaking of which that Bravo guy from South Dakota and Eshura from Colorado was at this tournament as well so more Falco rep.
