assume that you're using modified DSR so you can't pick the LAST stage you won on. so if you win the first match on yoshi's story, you can counterpick it in the 5th game

I'm a noob regarding tourney/mm rules. What's the reasoning behind neutrals only? Is it because, since it'll be a marth ditto, if someone could counterpick a stage, the opponent wouldn't be able to change character if they're bad on the stage?

you can mm anything with someone else

neutrals only when you're doing set characters makes sense because you dont have a chance to try and 'even it up' on their counterpick.
ie: for fox vs peach, they can't go brinstar/mute and force a broken counterpick [and fox can't go poke floats or cruise or green greens or whatever gay stage]

As for the rules of the MM...

If it's 3 out of 5 (Marth ditto), just do neutrals only with both players being able to choose the stage they last won on. 1 reset for both players. That's it.
