they have confirmed brawl is being delayed in japan until january 24th, nothing has been said about the US release but on the brawl website the release date was changed from dec 3rd to TBD, so thats not good.

I don't see why the tourney would be pushed back just because the game got pushed back. The only reason would be because we don't have a pre-release brawl for a prize or something. I think that is a minor detail when working out setting up a venue and a weekend thing...but then again, I am not spikes, so I won't say much other then that. Either way, I will be showing up with the usual people.

they didn't mention any release date except the japanese one at all at the press conference, but i think them changing the launch date on their site to tbd is a good indicator that somethings up.

BAD NEWS GUYS the cost of insurance alone was $4,500 for the entire weekend. I guess that's what it costs to insure a 2.5 million dollar property to a bunch of kids. Seeing as how Brawl was delayed though, maybe this is good news? I have a few other outstanding venues to look into, all of which would have been a lot cheaper than the expected price for Golf Central, just not as big and more restrictive in some senses.
But I remain wholly optimistic. I'm going to give myself one week to find a proper venue. Failing that, falling back on Grace Chapel as a backup venue is an option. If nothing looks good by next Friday, we'll have to cancel! Until then, just like Brawl this is TBD Unless there are any suggestions on venues or dates, you may resume bickering!

The chapel, was that the place used for HJ4? I had a blast there, I'd say go for there and delay until right before Feb10 (new confirmed brawl date)

That might work... if people can live with getting their pre-ordered Brawls on the 11th. (Overall, I think hosting it on the 10th wouldn't be the best thing we could do - unless everyone pre-orders from the closest store to the venue >.>)
The sooner everyone gets their copies of Brawl, the sooner more people can become accommodated at the tournament :D
And yes... after reading your post, it seems it WAS mis-communication between us that got out of hand, Spikes... you thought I was saying it couldn't be 3 days, I was asking if it was 3 days... but since HJ5 is likely to be moved back some, I think that entire fact now is moot... I've gotten over that now, and I just want to move on.

How do you know that there's gonna be such a tourney so far in advance? And is that going to be IN brawl itself? It's not going to be exactly the same as Melee, y'know...
...now I'm torn up inside... whether or not to preorder Brawl or try finding a tournament to win one... o.O

no it's not canceled, I'm finding a more appropriate venue. If I find a good one, HJ5 will be this year and hj6 will be brawl. If I can't find anything, we can have another FBT and HJ5 will be Brawl.

.... its going to be the same enough to the point that the basic winning strats are going to be the same... and the basics are all it takes to beat most scrubs... so i really don't think i will have much problem...
