This thread was begging to be made.

Umm...

Right now we're lookin' at August 10-12 (maybe we could fit in that Thursday?) at Reeve Memorial Union at UW Oshkosh.

If we get help from a school organization, we can use the building for cheeeeap and get $1,000 for prize money and stuff from a school sponsor.

Nnnn....

I wanted to make shirts and posters or bumperstickers or something cool this time.

I'm looking for new, fresh ideas and stuff so Steve and I can make this tournament tons better. The room in the Union we want to use for gaming is a huge freakin' ball room. We want the open gaming room to be better, too, now that next-gen consoles are out. As far as food though, we're not going to be as extravagant 4, sorry =P we'll work something out.

Otherwise, that's all I have for right now. I just wanted to make the thread to say Jett is still alive and breathing somewhere.

.... All I ever heard about HJ4 was good things... HJ5 has one more number than HJ4... that must mean EXTRA good things...

I'm pretty sure this will be my first OOS tournament, because I'm pretty much going to make it...

Holy man, not even 24 hours later and there's quite a number of posts. Glad to hear lots of people are interested and want to go

The Thursday would probably be just for gaming and wouldn't cost anything extra, another idea that was tossed out there.

Tongji, for posters, I had something in mind. I wanted to draw up some characters in a cell-shaded style with a black background and each character has a little pinstripe with their face on it. Or something. If you have any ideas, if you could PM me the images or ideas, that would be cool too. I'll draft something up in Photoshop within the next few days or weeks (I'm busyyy, boo.)

I'm going to have to make some fliers too, huh? Only AFTER we confirm the date and location... don't want to print those out and find out everything is changed, heheh. After I get some fliers/pin ups made, if anybody could help spread the word by printing and posting them or just telling people about HJ5, that would rawk.

Oh, I can edit my first post about this (just cos I can), but we wanted to rent 10-30 TVs for the event. They'd all be the same or very close to the same so there's no johns about 'my TV lags' -- that and no LCD/super expensive TVs. Just decent, large sized ones that have no lag or eww stuff.

OOS'ers are always nice. Bring your OOS'er friends =P

It's still tentative, we'd rather not announce a date or even confirm a location before we're sure it a) is available, and b) works for most people.

Speaking of which, like stated in the first post, we're looking at June 8-10. This is the first weekend of the summer for most school districts. The other date we were looking at was August 10-12, but that's a backup date. We want to steer clear of July for FC. We don't want people to have to decide which big tourney to go to.... including us, we want to go too
Anybody have any feedback on the date?

Also with food, like stated in the first post we weren't expecting to provide as much food. Even though HJ4 was an amazing deal, we had staffing issues and for HJ5 to go smoothly we probably can't risk the whole cooking thing again. BUT on the first floor of the UWO Union, there's a Burger King, a Subway knockoff, a pizza parlor, a baja mexican grill, and a full cafe, so you'll be free to accomodate yourself food-wise whenever you want. We'll be sure to have snacks and drinks (think sponsors ) but barring any significant changes, the above description will be the likely food situation for HJ5 if we have it at UWO.

Sometime this week, or next week, Airy and I are gonna try to schedule a meeting with some UWO faculty to try and make this work. We'll post and edit when stuff is confirmed... we just haaad to announce it, though; we couldn't keep Jett in his cage forever!!

One last thing -- if we get the $1000 University Pepsi Fund group sponsorship, that will not be the pot. That will be the pot bonus.

I had an idea for the poster. I wanted to have some people draw up certain characters in a kind of fighting pose, then fit them all together on the poster with "Handsome Jett 5", the date, location, and what not on the bottom. For the fliers I wanted to have 4-5 characters cell shaded. For the shirts, I really don't know! I'll get an example within the next few days.... as I said earlier. Wheee~

We will still need people to bring setups and other games. We can try to get Game Crazy to help out again so we will need to know what games and consoles to snag.

What about....... we do a State Crew Tourney? If the money is high enough, we could get oos's here, and then, it would be amazing.

So those dates aren't verified correct? If they are then I wont be able to make it since those are the last 3 days of school for me and I'll be doing a senior project then graduation.

But if they aren't then I'll have a high chance of making it to this, it would be my first major tourney or something like that.

The dates are not verified but that's what we're trying to go for.

I posted about HJ5 on Bemanistyle.com to see if anyone would be interested if we tried to get arcade machines and Bemani machines there. The arcade machines we can try to get for freeplay are things like PPP 2nd Mix, DDR 4th Solo and DDR Extreme, Pump It Up Exceed 2, Beatmania The Final, Beatmania Complete Mix 2, maybe Capcom vs. SNK 2, Point Blank, Silent Scope 2, maybe even 2-3 DDR Extreme machines and a Guitar Freaks. It depends on who's willing to cooperate with us. But I would like to make the open gaming room super extravagant, I want people to walk in and go "wow" at all the games and the variety.

EDIT: I don't think we'll be putting money into other things, just Singles and Teams, because if we do other things for cash prizes, then Singles and Teams gets less. Of course, we could always try to do Crew Battles on Sunday or late Saturday to win a bucket full of pride.
