Fair enough, but I've made several posts explaining why this relationship is not significantly different from other relationships that most people would condone, along with addressing individual points regarding why this relationship is harmful.

I guess the unbacked opinion vexes me, is all. I don't mind disagreeing, but I'd rather it be on some fundamental philosophical principle than on one side covering their ears. (not saying anyone was doing that for sure; the post you qouted was basically in jest)

Scientifically there may be issues with inbreeding, but I'm not a scientist so I'll leave that for those in labcoats.

I'm more of a psychologist. Fundamentally, the

reaction derives from our socialisation experiences and perceptions of the family. The family is percieved with affectionate love and not in a sexual manner. To do so is deemed taboo and engaging in incestual relations is in direct conflict with these social norms and expectations. Any sexual desires directed towards the family are meant to be repressed. Classic Freudian territory right now. Of course these socialising agents, our family, our education, the media and so on are all biased and bring their own agenda, but this is a common theme within most societies and cultures. If we were all brought up differently, within different contexts and socialised by different agents then undoubtedly our perception, and when I say 'our' I mean the majority of society, will be shaped differently and maybe such stories wouldn't encite such a reaction. But the fact is we don't and the

reaction is to be expected.

However, that doesn't provide grounds to make out that these people are intrinsically abnormal or whatever. It's not as clear as something else say for example murder. Their perceptions of what is appriopriate is just different and that is what it boils down to the atthe end of the day. While I don't agree with them and I fear for the numerous implications for the child, there are far greater ills in the world.

A shallow genepool also exaggerates useful attributes (profects?) You still haven't shown how much the rate of ****** increases with you inbreed. It matters whether it's like 3% or 30%. Cost vs benefit and all that.

I'm sure a diven dog's lifespan is a function of more than one variable. I'd also think selecting for cuteness detracts from certain attributes that would make them live longer. I'll give you that all other things equal inbreeding is worse than not inbreeding (I've never denied this.) The problem comes that people have no problem with ******* or colorblind or cancer-prone people breeding, which leaves the kid much, much worse off.

Given that you're a *** (rhymes with bag) like me, I'd think you'd be less responsive to the "It's icky" argument.

Edit: I'm not saying it doesn't happen at an increased rate, but you seem to be under the impression that most incestuous couples produce dysfunctional offspring, and I disagree.

I support consenting relationships of any kind, and the limit here is that animals cannot consent.

As for defects, variation in the pool and gene flow, take a standard class on evolution ffs. No I will not "go have sex with my mom" to "prove" anything because I have no desire too at all. I'm also sure that neither of my gay moms would be up for it either
