Inui, dont bother holding tournaments. Literally, the only good thing brawl did for melee was take you out of the melee community (we actually talk about how nice it is not having you around, tbqh.) You coming back is the last thing we all want.

As for the MM, I have no problem putting any amount of money on my peach. All you literally do to beat inui is space stuff on his shield so he cant shield grab u, and he is lost. Literally. THATS IT. yea like i said, any amount of money is fine.

Atomsk was a pretty darn technical player, and used at least 5 characters comfortably, yet still placed horribly in tournaments. All of a sudden brawl comes out and hes a celebrity? Meanwhile Scar comes outta no where into a game that is mad old and starts beatin old timers like chudat. How you gonna even compare the two. Its like night and day...

If you think that being patient is a sign of intelligence than jigglymaster must be a ****in genius. That game is literally who can "out gay" their opponent, which explains why inui's terribad melee habits transferred so nicely into brawl.

i was VERYY technical when i played melee and got ***** repeatedly. you have to be smart AND technical to win in melee, not just one or the other.

While Xzax's comments are completely uncalled for and shouldn't be held any more serious than the words of the great Fred Xenidis, responding by saying you don't have to be smart at all to play Brawl is pretty wrong. Besides the fact that your trash talking a whole community and game that doesn't do the same back to Melee (which is why half of the Brawl players are fed up with Melee vets), it's just false. You have to be smart in either game to completely succeed. Sure you can be dumb as nails and play MK in Brawl and beat people at your skill level and slightly better than you while being devoid of any tech skill or knowledge, but it still won't get him past the top players. Regardless, to reach the top rung of either Melee or Brawl (which Scar and Atomsk have both done in their respective games), it's obvious that intelligence plays a big role in your skill as a player. Now to say one is smart and the other isn't is ridiculously biased, ignorant, and makes about as much sense as Beowulf having sex with Robert Fulton at the first battle of Antietam. I mean when a neo-conservative defenestrates it's like Raskolnikov filibuster deoxymonohydroxinate.

thats actually exactly what i meant. xzax seems to completely disagree though saying in melee, tech skill can make up for smarts. imo, in brawl, you ONLY need to be smart, and in melee, you need both. not just one or the other.

and honestly, im not down talking brawl. really, besides in person sometimes, i dont think i have ever really downtalked the game much on the boards at all. its just xzax. his points are always so invalid it ruins everything.

@ GOTM: Not really, you can play melee at mid-level of play, if you have tech skill and rely mainly on that. Vexs first 2 tournaments he placed like 13th and 9th with only relying on tech skill. In brawl you can't just rely on something to get you to victory. And if you say MK thats not true either since all good players understand how to fight MK so if you don't outplay them you won't win. Top level of play in any game you need to be smart, Zhu, M2K, DJ, Mang0, Spam, VaNz, Jman, and other melee players are mad smart don't get me wrong, but a lot of high and mid-level players don't seem smart to me at all.

@ Scar: Dude, sorry when I watch your matches, its funny. You run into the same patterns, and sometimes you do something dumb, get hella abused, or get away with it. Prove me wrong, sir. I am open to anything, but if iirc you weren't nearly as smart as the way you place.

well then..WENDEL! It sucks you won't be coming by for are annual **** matches. If I get enough money in the next few months I'm considering moving up where they are. I hear they have 2 empty rooms on the same floor. If so you could drop by any time...hell you could even move in!!! Smash from from 10:30 PM-8:40 AM again lol. I've been Improving with most of my characters or at least maintaining a certain level. I still play against Anthony most of the time when I'm not up at my bros place so...I **** him pretty badly. Ever since I stopped holding back playing him is no fun most of the time unless I pick Pika or Kirby.....Basically I at least 3 stock him 90% of the time. He doesn't really like playing me any more so I'm forced to practice on CPU's now to keep my tech ability up...it SUCKS!!! I will be going up there sometime this week hopefully so they'll probably call you when I'm there.

I can't say enough about Brawl....really. I'd leave it up to the visuals. I actually think Brawl+ Is 10 times better because you can actually do combo's and have fun playin....let me show you all something simple.

How about you look at Silentwolf. He has the most techskill out of everybody, yet he seems to always lose. Nowadays he plays a bit slower and smarter in tourney matches and seems to do better. The main reason people probably lost to SW is because they were intimidated by his techskill.

I agree. It's steps. Brawl being bottom step, Brawl+ being a much higher step up, and Melee being a Step so high up that you need stilts just to take it. If some more really good Melee players got in on the creation of Brawl+ I bet they could make it even better. As of right now though Nothing is touching Melee...that was kinda what I was getting at. Glad you noticed it.

Well Brawl+ isn't exactly like melee. In fact some people in the project saw fit that it wasn't. However if you actually could make the game exactly like Melee in every way shape and form then you'd simply have a deeper version of melee with more characters and more advanced techniques and maybe more competition at the higher levels.....however sense that will never happen I don't get seriously into Brawl+. However it's 100000 times better than the original IMO.

Besides Melee is already more competitive then Brawl is at the highest level. I mean Jiggs and Peach were in Grand Finals of a Melee tourney. Who would have though that years ago.

Meanwhile the same people and characters always win in Brawl and the game has basically hit a wall that can't be passed in just a years time...It's about as deep as cup of a sandwich IMO.

Xzax, most of the arguments made are assuming you mean at higher levels of play, not mid-level where no one really knows what they're doing.

it's drawing aspects from melee in order to "improve" brawl. so you get this half brawl, half *** combination where every combo is ridiculously easy to pull off and... you might as well be playing melee <_<

You don't really have to be "smart" in Brawl. You just need to have patience, common sense, and the ability to space. Nothing I did in Brawl could have been considered amazingly smart. All I did was simple **** that should be standard play for everyone ever and yet I did extremely well in tournament.

Mid level play is trash in every game compared to top level. Also, how you place doesn't mean ****, it's who you beat. If M2K gets dead last losing to Mango and Armada at a tournament, that doesn't make him worse than Eazy who places 3rd by beating Oorah, DC, Yes, Alex Strife, Mog, and AngelCX.

In brawl you can't just rely on something to get you to victory. And if you say MK thats not true either since all good players understand how to fight MK so if you don't outplay them you won't win.

So without being very smart you got 13th? So apparently...two placements you say that Vex placed in Melee with pure tech skill that you could never reach in Brawl have been reached in Brawl without being very smart. I can likely bring up many more examples, these were just the ones I remembered from the top of my head.

You said Shiz wasn't smart because he approached Jason at the ledge and lost the match because of it. Let's try to think what else he could have done. Camp lasers is definitely an option. Of course, Marth can stand under a side platform and still throw a space animal off the stage from there and tipper fsmash the center of the stage so you obviously aren't going to want to be in range of either of those. That leaves camping under the platform on the other side of the stage, which happens to be very close to the ledge. Having played Jason a good amount in the matchup I know he is BEAST at doing dash powershield tipper fsmash/grab. Either one of those would have killed Shiz, fsmash would have led to edgeguard and grab would have led to techchase/platform combo ending in death. Marth also has counter and can dash attack between lasers. What is Falco going to do, NOT shoot lasers? Approach without them? Good luck trying that. Hindsight is 20/20 so we can all say it was the wrong decision for Shiz to approach Jason at the ledge. I personally wouldn't have approached Jason in the situation and many others wouldn't have either. However, there is no 100% guaranteed victory option for Falco in that situation. Eventually you have to do *something* to try and win or you're going to lose. 5:15 is far too long to camp Jason out on Yoshi's Story. All he needs is one good read and it's done.

You think tech skill is how Scar places high? Stomp knee, dthrow knee, upair knee, OMG SUCH TECHNICAL COMBOS! Or maybe Falcon's terrifying pressure is how? Nevermind, Falcon pressure is mediocre at best. Now I wouldn't say Scar is a fawken genius but he's definitely smart. Too bad I'm gonna **** his **** next time we play.
